Ok, now that there has been some time:
Can we get the outrage bandwagon out of the way for a minute and at least admit it was a pioneering game when it comes to the future of games and game design.
Ok, now that there has been some time:
yes
>pioneering game
Name 1 thing that this game did that no other game has EVER done
No
no.
Biggest buyers remorse of the 2010's
Only when you admit that you're a gayboy
>at least admit it was a pioneering game when it comes to the future of games and game design.
are you 5 years old ?
daily reminder that virtual hydlide had a procedurally generated map and therefore the equivalent of 18 quintillon planets
Space Engine was made by one slav and it AUs better.
Imagine if said slav had bigger budget. but without sony hypemachine, fuck that
Daily reminder that Space Engine simulates the entire known universe and is FREE
been a bigger disappointment that you
I can't wait for Sean to tweet again. I'll admit, from release to now, I still haven't stopped enjoying the game, in a way.
I want to know exactly how this game pioneered anything.
I want a complete list of how it pioneered something, seriously.
Do you have any idea what the word pioneer means in the instance you just used it in?
The game design is the worst part of this game. Somehow they fucked up simple resource gathering and made it the worst experience yet.
>the entire known universe
>epistemology demonstrates that we know nothing beyond our own existence
>an empty black box simulates just as much of the known universe
Space Engine is not a game per se and therefore not relevant to this discussion.
Spore already did all this shit back in 2008
Okay, sure.
I'll be on my way
Funny how a "not a game" is more fun than NMS
it is pretty impressive how it invented procedural generation
My parents are inclined to disagree.
>pioneering game when it comes to the future of games and game design.
I really hope not because the future is looking bleak if that's the case.
It's just a combination of survival/crafting (the most tired trend of recent years) and procedurally space exploration (as demonstrated earlier by Noctis IV and in a sense the Elite series, probably others as well), how is it a pioneer in any manner? Not that I doubt people regard it as some sort of revolution, as the video game hobby generally demonstrates the historical awareness of a goldfish.
you're simply naive and ignorant to believe that this game is a one of a kind. It could have been, but it isn't. And even if it became unique without any lies mixed in, it would be far from pioneering.
Fucking Fallout 4 had more hype than this game.
The planets are still boring, the "diversity" isn't really there when it comes to planet fauna - it's just recolors, the point of the game is literally grinding which makes Minecraft look more developed and in-depth sadly.
But I guess none of this would have stopped you from giving your mom's womb a lethal dose of gamma arrays when your brain was developed as a fetus.
then they're bigger liars than Sean
lying about everything
(you)
you're retarded if you actually think that
As if NMS was the first game to do that.
