Mega evolutions killed it because it made the series no longer feels like it could actually exist in real life. Who didn't imagine how cool it could be if you could ride a charizard to school, or find a beedrill in your backyard?

That can't happen anymore because mega stuff makes pokes feel more like generic magic video game objects than actual animals you could encounter.

Mega's are already horribly balanced, and the guy who directed it is the guy who made ORAS, but eh. Was thinking that they might do a huge overhaul, and it looks like they are, but it look's like it's competing with Yokai now rather than just being it's own thing and ehhhhh.
