Umbrella and zombies have given Chris meaning.

He saw Jill jump out of a window to save him from Wesker, and thought she was dead. He dealt with the anger by lifting.

You can't get those kinds of gains from just lifting.

He fought a super human twice before RE5. He needed enough strength to at least roll a boulder by punching it.

Meanwhile in RE6 he dealt with his survival by drinking.

The only recent big change to one of the character designs that I don't mind.

Leon just gets sexier as time goes on.

Even though it could be fun with a friend, it just wasn't Resident Evil anymore. RE4 was an interesting new direction for the series in spite of it's focus on action, but the shift to focus on co-op really soured the franchise.

This. 4 isn't scary but the tiny FoV and high chance of Leon or Ashley being OHKed keeps you on your toes. Plus, the Regeneradores and cultists can be pretty spooky
