How bad does it hurt Sup Forums?
Is this fan art?
Say my name
Not at all. HL2 was already bad so I never had any hopes for HL3 being any good.
Cool design actually
Not as iconic, of course, but I'm a sucker for the mechanical exosuit look
Now I really want a HL3 with the characters having aged along with the real-life time span.
>HL3
>The Boyhood of videogames
It doesn't hurt one fucking bit since I wasn't old enough to know or care about the release of Half-Life or its sequel. I did end up playing both later on, though. Pretty average
>Barney, Alyx and Gordon are now middle-aged and tired
>Eli and Kliener are dead
Meh, there was no one young in that story
Might have the MGS 4 problem of Gordon being old and busted at this point
Hey, you know that movie took 12 years to make? Amazing isn't it. Never been done before. Boyhood is the only movie I know to have taken 12 years to make.
When you put it like that I changed my mind.
What can I say? I have a thing for geriatric action heroes. Old Snake, The Dark Knight Returns and the like.
over it and forgotten
I'd like to see it released in my lifetime, but I've kind of accepted it will never happen and moved on with my life
ya blew it gabe
But Eli is already dead
>yfw the voice of Kleiner will die before the release of HL3
I actually forgot
it hurt until recently that, since every half life instalment fucking changed the face of gaming and, considering the industry today, it couldn't possibly meet anyone's expectations
so I rather have it dead and staying dead
but of couse, if they announced it tomorrow I would certainly lose my shit
I interpret Kleiner as more of a 50-year old in HL2.
It's not like he has a canonical age anyway, so they can probably have him being alive if they wanted to.
>yfw the voice of Dr.Breen will die before the release of HL3
This. I kinda just gave up hope. I don't care anymore. I don't even replay Half-Life and HL2 yearly anymore. Last time I played them was right before Xenoblade Chronicles X came out, and before that it was in 2012.
Haven't play any half-life except episode 2 which was ok. Would give it 7/10. The game is a bit dated now so I don't think it is worth getting into for real since it doesn't even have a sensible ending. Only a cliffhanger.
I stopped caring.
And when I'm reminded, I think of the positives.
Look at the sorry state of Valve R&D. What they've accomplished in recent years.
Exactly, fucking nothing. Not a single great thing. Perhaps one or two half-decent ones.
HL3 would be a remarkable letdown.
The original was Godlike for its time. Still holds up rather well to this day, like Return to Castle Wolfenstein.
Nah, I played HL1&2 at their times of release. And I did enjoy both and thought they were good, but they're not really something I would go back to. And I can't really see what HL3/Ep.3 could bring to the table to shake things up.
HL1 had all the cutscenes and story be in first person in engine and you could move around during them and shit. But that's standard now, if you do an FPS today and it doesn't do this a lot of people consider that as a negative. Even though I kind of dislike it because it usually means I can't skip the cutscene and get on with the gameplay on consecutive playthroughs.
HL2 had the whole physics thing. But picking up another wooden board to place over a gap to make a bridge looses its appeal after the 2nd or 3rd time. Being able to pick up random junk and launch it
Both HL1&2 are impressive games for their times that both helped bring tech in games forward. But the gameplay itself is just too standard now. Even Portal is more fun.
