Forgot this existed, was it any good?
Forgot this existed, was it any good?
No
The best way to describe it would be a good, albeit tedious game with a lot of good ideas that were ruined my Nintendos current philosophies.
>Mario and Luigi Paper Jam bosses
>Petey Piranha
>Big Pokey
>Wendy and Roy
>Wiggler
>Chargin' Chuck
>Bowser Jr.
>King Boo
>King Bob-omb
>Larry
>Ludwig
>Lemmy
>Morton
>Iggy
>Bowser
>Dry Bowser
While the overworld and plot are much blander than the other games and the Toad missions get a bit tiresome after a while, the gameplay is the best the series has ever been and the writing is just as great as always. Not as good as the other games in the series, but still very fun. Gets much more hate than it deserves I think.
It got it's hate from the people who also liked paper mario and hated Sticker star.
Because they didn't bring paper mario to Mario and Luigi. They brought Sticker star to Mario and Luigi.

7/10, toad missions get annoying.
It made me phycially laugh out loud quite regularly. The world was fun to run around in and there wasn't TUTORIALS TUTORIALS TUTORIALS like Dream Team
It's the weakest in the series by far, basically what said.
Also fuck the Paper Craft shit, it's not fun.
the gameplay is fantastic and the music is pretty good, but the rest of the game ranges from boring to tedious and most of the humor is just starlow shitting on luigi
the final boss is pretty cool though
Got any hopes for M&L6, Sup Forums?
Assuming Dream Team was my favorite M&L, will I enjoy Paper Jam or is the lack of creativity too much to bear? I loved the areas in Dream Team.
you'd hate this
I want the Shroobs to return.
Dropped it after the second toad mission
Did it get any better?
Its my most hated one of the series. Everything was completely bland and had no imagination. So much padding as well.
Beyond the bosses & dialogue, not really, you got a lot more Toad missions eventually.
>great combat and overworld traversing
>gives characterization to several mainstay Mario characters, like Toadette, Nabbit, and the Koopalings
>not as horrendously padded and stretched out as Dream Team
>no boring-ass 2D segments
On the flipside
>bland as fuck environments
>if you don't really like the featured mainline characters, the story is totally flat
>Papercraft Battles aren't as bullshit as Giant Battles but way more monotonous and repetitive
>catching Paper Toads break up the tempo in a bad way, though I personally would much rather have to deal with them than the 2D segments
Personally it's my second favorite, though that's more because I don't really enjoy any of the others except SSS. PiT has trash balance in battle and Bros Items are shit, BIS I hate the 2D segments and the game's too short, DT I hate the 2D segments and the game's too long, and PJ's combat is basically the current zenith of the formula they've built on since BIS which still isn't as good as the SSS original but it's alright. Also I'm a fairly big Toadettefag so seeing her get some actual character in a game was really nice.
you'd like the gameplay and writing but you would probably dislike everything else.
>Game featuring Luigi
>Good
The only saving grace of this pathetic display is that it has TWO Marios in it.
Those passages with the papercraft Mario were boring as shit.
Rest of the game was okay.
Its general NSMB blandness is annoying, but on the flip side, it made Toadette and the Koopalings actual characters instead of just 'girl Toad' and 'Seven Bowsers With Hair'.
Which is damn great since it lessens the 'bland' factor of their current overuse.
It's fucking c tier.
7/10 at best. 5/6 if you actually analyze the deep problems with modern m and l combat. Aka compare it to SS
Battles are top-tier
No mandatory tutorials
Faster paced than DT
Levels are more compact
Writing is reminescent of SPM
Too many minigames
Not enough enemy variety
Story is pretty meh and clearly two-three different scripts stitched together at the last minute
PJ fixes DT's biggest issues (it was too slow-paced, it had too many tutorials, the story came down to "oops you got there too late lol" several times) but it doesn't have as much content either. You'll probably enjoy it but it's not a grand adventure like DT was.
The storyline with the two BJs were one of the more subtle and bittersweet stories in the Mario series. The rest of the story was pretty meh, to be honest, though.
>Alphadream removed hard mode for no fucking reason
this shit pisses me off
why do they add it if they're just going to take it away?
>I've been thinking... How come you guys get to use battle cards and we don't?
>yfw
DT's hard mode was fucking trash.
how?
A bittersweet blowjob story, huh?
Sounds erotic
They seemed about ready to blow each other, honestly
Couldn't finish it, the game was just so bland.
and then the game has its first actual difficult battle
It's fun.
>Toadsworth
I still don't know why they excluded him. He was a series mainstay, and he debuted in Super Mario Sunshine.
They should have had a Koopaling pair up with a unique boss to make it better, like Roy + Petey Piranha
Paper Jam and Rio Olympics do Koopalings "right".
If you're going to shove them in, only have the best ones appear/get all the screentime, shaft the shitter ones.
Agreed. Seven is way too fucking many for a recurring character group.
