Realistically speaking, which of these three companies do you see dropping out of the console business first?
Realistically speaking, which of these three companies do you see dropping out of the console business first?
None. Consumers are too stupid.
Nintendo selling their IPs to microsoft and making mario, donkey kong, fzero and metroid great again
I'll give you a hint
It will never ever be MS
Microsoft first
Nintendo second
Sony will be the last good game company standing
>Sony
>Good
>Sony
>Games
>
>sonycucks are this delisional
Microshit of course.
but microsoft shut down their mobile division
>Sony will be the last good game company standing
>Sony
>good
Wow, Nintendo is doing pretty well for only making (barely) games
dang MS can literally buy sony on a whim..
sony is cucked
Nearly everything else except Windows and Office bombs though.
Isnt Sonys gaming department the only one not losing them money right now?
I highly doubt thats going to save their entire company from going under
He said "realistically speaking".
Fucking hell, MS is worth almost half a trillion dollars. I knew they were rich but not that rich. They could literally buy Sony and Nintendo several times over and still have some spends left.
So outside of gaming:
Microsoft has a monopoly on computer OS's so they will never go away basically
Sony is apparently not doing too hot aside from the Playstation brand.
And Nintendo is gaming only. They have seen better days, but they can relatively easily print money when they want to, e.g. with toys like amiibo
did I get all that right?
Sony. PlayStation will be bought out by Google or Facebook and their autistic fanbase will go along with it and claim Sony won.
Can't tell if this is bait or not.
Microsoft, as they have the means to fall back to fall back to PC development.
Not Playstation, even in Sony's darkest hour it does well for them.
Nintendo don't even consider themselves as anything to do with the others and produce their own console so they have complete creative control over their IPs which is where the real value of the company is.
but instead they'd rather waste billions buying worthless LinkedIn and Nokia
I doubt Sony would be sold to a non Japanese company if they were to go on sale.
Microsoft are already making the Xbone useless, and after Xbox Scorpio there probably won't be another Xbox.
Nintendo depends on if the NX bombs harder than the Wii U or Virtual Boy.
Sony will never think of discontinuing the PlayStation brand, because it prints money. If they fuck up however, they could end up leaving the brand.
I can actually see this happening.
Probably because Sony and Nintendo don't wanna sell. I bet they've made Nintendo a private offer in the past though, I'd put money on it.
They will sell off the Playstation brand. Also Sony doesn't identify itself as a Japanese company anymore.
MS literally is going to stop making consoles.
Sony is in massive danger of going bankrupt, PS is the only division they have that doesn't bleed money. Its not enough to keep a massive conglomerate afloat.
Nintendo is the eternal tortoise. Slow and steady and will always surprise you when everyone else gets arrogant.
Nokia had a shitload of patents and talent that M$ wanted.
Would Nintendo be done for if the NX was like this?
MS.
Their E3 seemed like they just want to make pre built window 10 gaming PCs. The 360 audience now own PS4s and all of their exclusives are dead or on life support.
Sony relies on the PS because they are fucking up with all their other divisions
Nintendo will be making portables forever and Mario/Zelda/Pokemon is normiebait
wtf they spent 26 billion on linked
what is even linkedin
they could have made like 500 AAA games with that
I wish I could beat the shit out of retards who make these stupid images.
In a traditional sense? Microsoft.
Their next "console" will just be a prebuilt Win10/11 machine.
Microsoft has a ton of money, but Xbox still operates at a loss.
Microsoft. Many people are saying that the Xbox Scorpio will be their last console, and Microsoft is giving pretty major hints to that as well.
Anybody who saysi Sony or Nintendo are just trolls.
Would you like some fries with that (you)?
>Their E3 seemed like they just want to make pre built window 10 gaming PCs.
They want the pc and console market. It's not that complicated. Console users who only listen to marketing will never build a pc.
Everyone loves to hate on Sony but they have the best 3rd party support
It is like Facebook for professions.
Are you the faggot who made the image? It looks fucking stupid and you're not clever or creative. kys.
Maybe because they dont have a first party to give support to
LinkedIn is a like social network for business. Though basically it's become an online resume site.
Like most Silicon Valley fraud companies it generates zero profits, and instead has massive losses year after year. There's zero synergy between LinkedIn's products and any of Microsoft's products or services. The acquisition makes zero sense. They're bought a money-losing enterprise with no chance of ever becoming profitable and which doesn't tie into any of their existing businesses. Expect another massive impairment on Microsoft's balance sheet in the coming years.
which is why Microsoft laid off nearly all the former Nokia employees and sold off/impaired the remaining assets, rights? They didn't even get the patents with the deal, they only purchased the phone design/manufacturing business.
>Though basically it's become an online resume site.
Sounds to me like they bought it to access all the info.
>We noticed you profile said you were good with computers and would like to offer you a job beta testing the next version of Windows: Extra Botnet Edition
Sony has no interest in dropping the console business, it's the only thing that makes them money. However, they could go bankrupt and sell Playstation, and that way drop out of it. But if Sony survives, they will remain in consoles.
Nintendo will at the very least last another three years. After that, it's a bit more uncertain if their next console flops. I know they promised they'd never drop consoles, but they are a business, and if they have to, they will.
Microsoft is only in the console business because they can. It has no importance to the company, and they could decide to drop it at any moment.
Realistically, the first one with potential to drop consoles is Microsoft, which could to it tomorrow.
Sony could also drop out relatively soon, but Playstation will persist. But Sony dropping out depends on it being their only choice. They could be bought out today, but I think they'll last at least one or two years.
Nintendo has the latest earliest drop out date, but depending on what the other companies do, they could still end up being the first ones to drop out if their next attempt flops horribly.
I think I'd go with Microsoft, although it could be any of them.
This.
Microsoft regardless of how good or bad any of them do. board of directors hate their gaming platform, and if win10 fails to unify the customer base between their console games and their pc app market then I could see them potentially making one more generation designed to fail, and then dropping off.
microsoft, they're already putting everything on XBONE on PC
Sony is the only one with a real console right now.
MS turned the Xbox into a full Windows 10 machine.
Nintendo is still jerking around with underpowered hardware because they are too cheap to pay for HD dev costs.
I don't see that as a sign they're trying to get out of the console business. Instead it seems they're trying to extend the Xbox brand to Windows 10, and Windows 10 apps to Xbox. Could be a good way to grow their gaming business tbqh. Consoles aren't what make these companies money, software sales are (and increasingly, services).
Console? Microsoft, but the financial decisions Sony's been making lately have been practically suicidal.
so I guess we'll see.
If you've ever been on LinkedIn, it's really about generating sales leads and targeted advertising. Imagine being a huge software company with access to millions of technology execs and leaders...that's why they paid 26 billion for it.
Shit's cheap and it's easier to turn them around to make a profit.
>Instead it seems they're trying to extend the Xbox brand to Windows 10
bull fucking shit. That's exactly what Michael Pachter says and it makes no fucking sense. How the fuck do you extent the Xbox brand with out a fucking box ? Ms is using the Xbox silverware to help boost the windows store and nothing more. It's a sellout move. No one buys Xboxs to play windows 10 apps ffs.
Microsoft. They'll eventually merge the lines between PC and Console gaming on their own.
I doubt Sony nor Nintendo will ever leave the home console or handheld market, though Sony may go the way of mobile styled gaming and drop dedicated handhelds hardware.
Microsoft might if the board of directors gets tired of Xbox, thryve said before jey dont care about it.
Nintendo might if the NX flops since they've realised their IPs are all that they need, nor consoles, see PokemonGo.
The only chance Sony has of pulling out is them going bankrupt since PS4 is the only profitable thing in their entire company.
Overall ewch seem likely.
This is how it will probably play out.
Microsoft can afford to drop out of the console market at any time since their PC market is flourishing. They will likely be the first to drop out of the console market because there is no consequence in doing so right now.
Sony is the closest to bankruptcy because of how bad they're doing in everything but the Playstation brand but they are resourceful enough to find a way to continue operating, plus they have the strongest 3rd party support of the three. They will likely be either the second or third to go
Nintendo is usually in a safe spot regardless of whether they make more or less money than the competition and are mainly riding on the nostalgia of their customers and the family market. However their recent business practices calls for much concern from their nostalgia audience as well as their investors and 3rd party developers which caused them to lose many support over the years, but they've shown the ability to remain afloat just from their own products as well as investing in other properties. They're the least likely to go of the three however their chaotic decisions may fuck them over one day and they'll probably drop out before Sony does.
Microsoft already has access to millions of technology execs and leaders. They already have an online advertising business (which after many years of losses is finally making positive revenue, unlike LinkedIn). It doesn't add up.
>since their PC market is flourishing
>windows 10 store
>flourishing.
nigga what ?
>sony
>close to bankruptcy
Why does this meme still exist?
This is a stupid comparison since Microsoft makes the most downloaded OS and has lots of other products, same with Sony. Nintendo really only makes games (and toys to an extent).
Microsoft already is. They want to turn the Xbox brand into their own take on the Steam machine.
Sony is retarded but always manages to find a way to survive.
Nintendo isn't going to die as long as they have Mario and Pokemon.
What is a console?
A locked down pc with a custom os made with drm in mind.
All MS wants to do is make a similar os between pc and their xbox and share the same games across all.
All a console is just a pc with restrictions and stuff like paid online. Console users haven't made pcs all these years because there's no marketing and if you tell people it's the strongest machine, they will believe it.
So in summary, MS will continue making games on their environment and also always put a console out for those guys that will never build a pc. Aka console users. They will never leave.
It is not a meme, every single thing they do makes them lose money save for the PS4
>thinking Nintendo will stick with consoles if NX pulls a WiiU
>When the past three years of licensing characters and making apps and merch have been much more worthwhile
>had to shut down laptop division
>android phones aren't selling
>Samsung has greater brand recognition in electronics
>their movies are mostly shit
>digital media is a danger to bluray
>VR hasn't taken off
Sony would be fucked without Playstation.
Not baiting but Microsoft and Nintendo kind of already did.
Microsoft, but they won't drop out of the game industry. The Xbox brand will still exist, but as a PC based service. They will still make Xbox controllers, too
Microsoft. Sony is going to keep milking their successful formula of false promises, while Nintendo has few alternatives outside gaming. Microsoft on the other hand, is big enough to fuck off and just go straight to PC.
Microsoft's lethargy and Nintendo's retardation make this a tough call.
Sony'll be fine since their fans love paying more for less.
>and also always put a console out for those guys that will never build a pc. Aka console users. They will never leave.
Microsoft is making a fraction of the games and is getting a fraction of the third party support Sony is getting on their consoles. The gap between PS4 and Xbox in terms of games is huge now. Microsoft is done with halo, gears and forza 7 sequels, quantum break was shit, what else do they have? It seems after recore they are done investing in games and even developers are beginning to understand Microsoft dose not understand or care about video games, they'll turn every idea into a third person shooter and let shareholders dictate how games are made. Microsoft is a soulless corporate branch and their first party studios are just as souless
Didn't Microsoft and Nintendo just do this with the announcement of Xbox becoming a platform and the NX being a platform?
That's not saying much, 3rd party games in general are complete garbage this gen.
Because when nearly 75% of your divisions are bleeding money, it's very concerning.
None of them are going anywhere for the foreseeable future.
The parrotted answer is Nintendo, but that's not going to happen because despite every single fucking stupid decision they made this year and the last, they have a lot of money saved up in the banks to keep going a while.
The actual answer so far seems to be Microsoft, but that's only because they've been porting most games to their Windows 10 PCs to drive sales. Perhaps they might drop out of the console game all together and begin marketing PCs under a gaming brand, or maybe they'll still put some faith in Xbox and keep it going a bit longer, but either way, they'll be in good finances at the end and nothing will really change.
Sony's hemorrhaging money and imploding on itself like a coked-up sitcom star, but they still got a lot of Playstation life in them. When they finally die, expect it to be glorious.
Mobiles are turning a profit now, movie business is turning a profit. PSVR hasn't taken off because it hasn't even launched yet, it's immensely popular in Asia for some reason too.
Samsung has greater mobile recognition but Sony isn't even competing in the same market space, they make high end premium electronics.
These. Microsoft'll drop out, but only because they want to consolidate Xbox into their PC division rather than having actually "lost" the race.
Nintendo sort of HAS to keep going with hardware, although they can subsist for quite a while on being the niche choice.
Sony'll keep going solely out of hype. They know how to market their hardware even if they don't actually have much to offer.
>nintendo
>a lot of money saved up in the banks
Haha, no. It's only a matter of time before they start having to trim the fat. Do you think wealthy people have giant Scrooge McDuck vaults full of gold?
Microsoft.
The PC software brass have fucking hated the whole Xbox brand since it came out, which is why literally every piece of info you hear about the Xbone now is basically just shilling Windows 10 and their PC software.
That being said, the chance of any of these 3 dropping out is at best
Microsoft, they make the majority of their money from PC and their products for it anyway.
Nintendo I could see going heavier on the handheld market, but I don't see them going under any time soon.
Sony is dropping hard in everything that isn't gaming. I'm not so much worried about the Playstation brand as I would be for the entire electronics company.
Nintendo actually DOES have a lot stored up in a backup account, enough to last them at least a decade of zero profit. This is pretty common knowledge.
none
only the low end mobile division, not the flagship
amazing Nintendo is worth all that with just videogaems
>spent 26 billion
Nintendo is worth 21b, fuck my shit senpai
Microsoft will never leave the console market, they need that shit to keep directx the top dog
profiting for 8 years in a row
Honestly I wouldn't be mad if Microsoft or Nintendo drops out. The way things are going, Microsoft is making Xbox controllers for PC and Nintendo seems to be making a controller for Mobile. I feel that I can enjoy both companies games on those devices. Sony will also die and will be bought out. Sony and it's shit fanbase is garbage so it would be better when they go.
I'll give you a hint. Check their video game divisions you autistic shitposter
No matter how much MS has money as whole, if their console division bombs then they are shutting it down. Companies typically don't like to keep failing divisions up even if they had money to do so.
Microsoft. Not because they can't handle the losses but because they are less and less interested in that division of their company.
If not them, it's a tie between Nintendo and Sony. Nintendo is just too fucking retarded in this day and age and Sony, as a whole, isn't doing well these days even if their gaming division is.
>enough to last them at least a decade of zero profit
...What?
That's not how it works, retard. Blackberry did the same thing and it looked real good right up until their shares tanked. If the NX is a blunder Nintendo will be over. I guarantee it.
then why doesn't sony shut down everything and leave just the playstation division?
Sony.
Japanese feeling generally is never to abandon a company's original intent even if it's going down the tubes, hence why they still pump out Walkmen & TVs.
Though they have become more of a Western company nowadays.
The one who thought Cisbusters was a good idea
Then the one who followed on the shitty DLC toys fad
Nintendo's changed what they make like a dozen times though
I guess you could broadly consider it all under the umbrella of "entertainment" though
And then there's whatever the fuck Konami has been doing
Blah blah blah. Shares tanking doesn't affect the ACTUAL money they have stored.
And besides, how low do you expect their shares to tank? Shareholders are panicky idiots, but they're nowhere near the level of the "doomed since 1889" morons.
Nintendo still makes playing cards and wasn't that the original purpose too
The NX comes out in seven months and it hasn't even been announced yet. That doesn't necessarily mean it will fail but unless Nintendo markets like they've never marketed before, it's just not going to do well. Period. And if the NX is another failure, I think Nintendo will drop out of consoles and stick to their handhelds.
Dude, Sony TVs are cool, I have only owned Sony TVs and never saw them breaking down unlike my other friends who buy Korean shit and the like.
>LinkedIn
>worthless
God you faggots are underage as fuck
Konami's main goal has been "entertainment", and that's what pachinko machines are, sleazy as they fucking are.
They're going to belly up eventually though, I can forsee it in their future.
They also made whore houses. So you tell me what their original purpose was.
Not that any of this matters because one company doesn't determine an entire culture.
>Blah blah blah
Sometimes I see posts like this and wonder if the nintoddlers here are actually the meme-spouting spergs that work for NoA and are just desperately defending their bread and butter.
