Steam and Metal is good for its price, i recommend it

I looked at the games on sale very briefly and I the piles of weeb shovelware made it hard to see anything good.

I only got AAC because of Woodsie's video on games to play with the Steam Controller.

It's pretty good, especially if you like tons of bullets on screen

Add Kamui to that list and that's pretty rock solid.

Which ones have online co-op?

I don't trust the boxes on the side of the steam shop, When I click on that shit Metal Slug doesn't even show up.

Crimson Clover, Eschatos, Sora, Mushihimesama, and exceed 2nd/3rd are all good.

Oh I forgot to mention, they did release some new ones a year or so ago. They're a lot higher quality (and more expensive). I don't think they did so well in sales because they stopped making them right afterwards. Look up Shooting Game Historica Reboot if you want to try and find them. I'm hoping figma makes some.

If you really like fish and horis, yes.

2nd is an Ikaruga clone but it's a really good one. It's very fast paced and plays more like a traditional shmup despite the bullet absorption.

1st one isn't very good.

imo touhou is around the mediocre-to-good end of the scale for me. That said they have a rather unique style as far as shmups go so you might like them more than I did.

It's not bad. The biggest problems is ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING IN BLUE (except bullets) and so it's hard to tell enemies from backgrounds from irrelevant moving stuff from incoming moving stuff. The rotating the screen is interesting but hard for me to deal with at times, due to not knowing what's happening a lot of times.

I got into shmups through touhou and like said they are kind of different from what you'll usually find on the market.

Not a typical vertical scrolling shooter (free-roam with some inertia physics and minor stealth mechanics), but is is pretty decent. Your ship can turn into a robot after you unlock the upgrade, similar to Macross ships.

Touhou tends to change the scoring mechanics with various games so you are doing different things each title. Also, enemies and attack patterns are different each game, so you get a fairly decent variety even if they are all "dodge the massive bullet waves".

Jigoku Kisetsukan: Sense of the Seasons stood out as one of the most "Touhou" Steam games I've run across so far, or at least the one I remembered most distinctly. I didn't play into it very far, though.

Luftrausers is pretty neat. Not a traditional shmup but it's really fun when you get gud

Its a pretty unashamed Touhou clone, but its also free and the boss stage music is really good imo

It is an excellent game. Lots of content, and the arcade more is very well done. It has some of the best shooting music and bosses of last gen.

This will be my chance for Eschatos and the _ZEAL games. I don't know if it is on sale, but I recently picked up Mecha Ritz for like $5, and am really impressed with how well-made the game was. Lots of cool designs and art and music; I believe it was all done by one person.
