ORIGINAL DUKE NUKEM 3D REMOVED FROM STEAM STORE

Gearbox had Duke Nukem classic titles removed from Steam so that they could sell their shitty remaster for $20.

Why is this allowed?

it's called capitalism
suck it up
... or rather suck it down

so you can buy the new and improved Duke Nukem® 3D™: 20th Anniversary® World Tour®™

'Merica at its finest
It's nothing new

I have the megaton edition on steam that i bought last year, and even the atomic edition on gog. Gearbox can EAD

I thought it was because there's some kind of legal tangle going on with the Duke's balls of steel

in either case, >giving money to Gearbox

just let the cucks go bankrupt. Their assfaggot moba looks like they hired literal wu to do those god-awful art designs, and anthony burch is an even bigger memester than nick doerr's Neptune.

good thing the whole 3D Realms Anthology is $5 on Kinguin

yeah you missed the time to get mad like a few months ago. just pirate it or check the retro shooter thread on /vr/

It's been off steam for about a year now

also without the multiplayer and all the expansion packs

How does it feel to be against capitalism, SJW?

It's been off the store since new years.

It was like this since January.
Well, too bad the free market's going to fuck Gearbox over when no one buys this rip off.

Blow it out your ass

It was removed like a fucking 4 or 5 months ago.

same thing happened with metro, only the REDUX versions are available now

Do I get the new dook if I have megaton edition.

No, you just have the satisfaction of knowing you own the superior version.

Good luck for that I got the MEgaton Edition from Humble Bundle for $1 at some point, and is not that bad, just torrent the megaton edition and that's about it.

Still is a fucking shame for the mods.

And I really hope no one buys this new version, Gearbox is getting desperate, after what happened with Blunderborn they are trying their best to gain some money, I really hope the game sells like shit so Gearbox can fucking die once and for all

Thanks randy

The worst part is that the new campaign sounds pretty good. If Gearbox just could put together a good package it wouldn't be an issue.

If you already bought them why would it matter?

If you havent bought them already you were never going to so why would it matter?

Fucking bitch.

...What? I just said Megaton is the better version, fuck the Gearbox shit.

Isn't Redux objectively inferior to the original version, too?

>Stop complaining about getting an inferior product!
Glad I pirated this.

wasn't that the STALKER knockoff? i thought the original had better grafix, but the Redux made the AI less stupid or buggy or something
just wut i heard

Gog gave out Duke3d for free awhile back

Metro Last Light, maybe, but the first Metro 2033 in the original engine is still being sold.

>20 years later we still don't get proper Plug and Pray port

>Ruining Duke with political bullshit
Why

If this port is anything like his singing.....
youtube.com/watch?v=_IPZTRCu664
then RIP Duke Nukem

This is why.

Listen to the link too, faggot. Gearbox are the "SJW's" here.

Nah, just stop complaining like a fucking bitch.

Fucking bitch.

Quick, Sup Forums! Give me a rundown on what exactly the different versions of douk entail!

Including the Megaton edition, that's the one that I have. No, I have not read this thread; spoonfeed me.

Jesus fucking christ gearbox is probably my least favorite video game studio.

Harsh language there, Randy. Still triggered over that twitter thing?

Megaton is the best version for the content, you own the right one.

>remaster
>could be good
>Gearbox
>into the trash
They need this. It's not like anyone wants Stillborn.

Megatron has 3 additional fanmade episodes. World Tour removes those but adds 1 new official episode and spazzy lighting, new Duke VOs.

>Not already owning Megaton Edition

Not entirely. It has smoother gunplay but took a hit aesthetically imo. A lot of prebaked shadows, ambient light coming out of nowhere, exaggerated bloom, pretty much all the ebik next gen features no one really likes.

justa joke breh why you ytriggered?

megaton edition was removed a long time ago

You should see the trailer. They even said it was the exact same engine and everything, only 8 levels, but they now have better sound quality because they re-recorded Duke's voice.

It sounded like the monsters still had shitty voices too.

You made the right choice.

i will probably buy it for new new content and to shitpost about all the changes

Oh, I also have Duke 3D on GOG.

That's assuming Steam doesn't invalidate the key.

Same

Duke sounded kinda tired in the trailer, I don't think I'm a fan of the re-recordings.
He doesn't sound as Duke-ish anymore.

You need to pay more goyim

Really I'm just enjoying the tears of all these fags that didn't buy Duke 3D years ago. Anytime there was a sale the games went down to less than $5 or something, it's your own damn fault if you didn't have it yet.

And gog gave the game away for free.

I own Atomic, but unfortunately not Megaton.

I think that's actually when I got the GOG version. I can't remember. Maybe I bought it before Megaton was available on Steam, I don't know.

Point is there's been ample opportunity to get the game on the digital distribution service of your choice.

Fuck i didnt buy the ps3/ and vita version, being a Trophy whore.

Is gearbox trying to be funny?

I bought the Megaton Edition on Steam before it was removed so I guess I got lucky and don't have to worry about 20th Anniversary bullshit edition.

>Gearbox had Duke Nukem classic titles removed from Steam so that they could sell their shitty remaster for $20.

The old publishing license expired. Gearbox didn't "remove" it. They just never put it back up.

L O L LITERALLY HWO WHT THE FUCK

be realistic though, they were planning on selling this remaster for awhile now and probably expect it to be a perfect replacement. makes no sense to renew licenses for deprecated clients, everyone who already wanted it owns duke nukem 3d and the grp files are fucking everywhere

>needing all this shit for a game that came out during Bill Clinton's first term

What am I supposed to be looking at?

This, they've been discussing a Duke 3D remaster for years.

>those hardware requirements
Did they just copypasta the info from some of their other games, what the fuck
>DX11
OY VEYYYY

Duke nukem megaton has been out of the store for years now.

Which is funny because the workshop is still up, i remember they said they were trying to get it back on steam.

System requirements are higher than expected.

Quade core cpu and a 610 just to run a 50 year old game

>old publishing rights expire

Fine, so what do they do?

>pay the original devs a few thousand to make 8 more levels
>add in some shitty base-level DX11 lighting
>ship it out for double the price of the Megaton Edition

The worst part about it is that people will fall for this shit and preorder it despite "muh original devs" holding fuck all weight in the current gaming landscape.

>I want customers to be confused by the names
You don't understand how retarded some people are. There are people who think expansion packs are sequels and the Wii U is an addon for the wii.

holy shit

I can't believe they didn't do anything to it

such a fucking money grab

>Wii U is an addon for the wii.
That's more Nintendo's fault for being shitty with the names.

vocaroo.com/i/s1Vzg92DMev1

>can run on windows vista
>requires 8600 GT
>requires directX 11
Correct me if i'm wrong but wasn't the 8600 GT made from a time before directx 11 and it supported only 10 at the most?

right because U is so commonly associated with a fucking sequel. not roman numerals, not numbers, not any indication of a new entry in the series a fucking U of all things

The key becomes valid when it is generated. It must be a working product as advertised on the box or wherever/whenever you bought it. They can't have your bought key that is sitting there (even if for years) simply no longer work

Blocking off keys that are on the market (and which can therefore still take part in legal trade) from working will, if it goes to court, amount to a trade law infraction 100% guaranteed. It literally doesn't matter if the EULA for the game says things like "the devs can decide if this particular key no longer works at their discretion :^)"

Only for Last Light, which is like 99% the exact same as Redux, because Redux is merely a porting of 2033 to the Last Light engine

Original 2033 is still there.

Which classic Duke games are you talking about?

The only one I ever saw was Duke Nukem 3D: Megaton Edition, and that's been gone for a long time.

Wasnt the original 2033, a unoptimized mess.

>DX11
>For a game that came out over 20 years ago
Gearbox is basically dead.

I still refuse to accept this.

Last Light Redux was such a sleazy cash grab. They just packaged up all the dlc, added like 2 new weapons into the main campaign, and included a new difficulty mode.

They literally did the same thing with the original Metro 2033 except it was a free update.

It came out when DX11 was a naive, starry-eyed child. Metric fucktons of volumetric lighting, tesselation, etc. It was the new "next big benchmark" after Crysis.

Most modern cards can run it very easily, even the 960, but at the time it basically raised the bar far beyond what "future-proofers" were expecting.

>NEW REMASTERED SPECIAL EDITION released
>it's worse than a previously available version

Every. Fucking. Time.

you know there's dosbox flash conversions of dook everywhere, right? same with doom/heretic/hexen.

Seriously, who the fuck would pay money for a game made before 1999

Duke 3D is justifiable piracy.

I think the worst case of this is the Ubisoft tetris game that ran like shit on every platform. Fucking tetris and it ran like shit how do they even do that.

I meant that I would atleast like to have it too see what it's like. And have working multiplayer

If Nintendo had removed the Wii from stores then the Wii U would've had a chance. This is the same thing.

At least this Duke Nukem game has new content, and presumably it's actually compatible with modern PCs and doesn't run on a fucking emulator like a pirated version. Even so, I seriously doubt it's worth the asking price, but it might be worth getting when it's on sale.

The Steam releases of classic Doom and Heretic games literally run on DOSBox, and it's not even an up-to-date version of DOSBox, and it's not even configured correctly in my opinion. I have these games on Steam (because the Doom trilogy pack was cheaper than Doom 3 by itself and because someone gave me the Heretic/Hexen series as a gift), but I ended up using source ports instead of running them through Steam.

>dosbox
nigger fucking what? use a sourceport, all those games you mentioned and plenty more have sourceports

>i5, 2gb of ram, and DirectX 11.0
>Needed for a game that had just barely managed to figure out vectors without shitting itself

>presumably it's actually compatible with modern PCs and doesn't run on a fucking emulator like a pirated version

So was
>Megaton Edition
>EDuke32
>JonofDuke3D

The "hurr durr emulator" argument is fucking stupid

pirate it?
whats the problem?

How the fuck do you want to pirate it if the game is recalled? The problem is not the price but that it's no longer available.

>implying I don't have been pirating DN since the floppies' age

>pirating floppies
If it's a physical media it's called stealing, user.

Those pixels aren't going to light and bloom themselves now.

>Why is this allowed?

Sure, go and arrest me 20 years in the past

So you only pirate if the game didn't get a physical release?
