Yeah but he originally trying to save his son, not make an army of undead. That happened when he was like 4/5ths of the way done
Where is that from? A novelisation or something?
The third game. It shows he was trying to save his son Daniel from a terminal illness but grew crazier and crazier as his research progressed, until he finally lost his mind when he discovered the gene sequences for the Magician and the Wheel of Fate
I loved House of the Dead. I wish SEGA makes another entry.
These games were honestly among the best at the arcade, hands down
Tied with time crisis, Area 51, and silent scope
Can anybody recommend a setup for playing these and other old arcade titles?
I've got my PC with a big screen, but I take it I need an emulator and some kind of light gun?
Are Rail Shooters kill? How do we bring them back attach cute girls doing evil things?
Have you been to arcade lately? It's like all xbox 360 consoles and wii remotes now
This. Although they are kill for home consoles unless VR takes off or Nintendo's next console is successful and keeps motion controls.
HotD was goat. Still my favorite zombie game
They have Overkill on Steam n that ones funny too
The local arcade I got has all the old classic games such as Tekken, Pac-man, Time Crisis, Tron, Donkey Kong, and etc all working in the cabinets.
Yes and no. Real arcade style rail shooters are dead, but casual mobile rail shooters live on.
1 > 4 > 2 > Overkill > 3
>hotd hd collection never ever
>hotd5 never ever
>you will never revisit the curien mansion
>you will never find out who the mystery man is
>you will never fight the devil
>you will never fight the moon
>you will never fight the high priestess
>you will never fight magician one final time

R-R-R-R-RELOAD SHOOT OUTSIDE THE SCREEN!
Sega might return to House of the Dead in a few years.
...
that was kool when they put this stage in Sonic & Allstars Transformed
It's been a while, hasn't it? My friends from the AMS.
>SUFFER LIKE GEE DID!?!
What did he mean by this?
>1 better than 2
It's me. Goldman :3

Go away nostalgiafag. The mansion setting is comfy as fuck.
That was awesome. I totally forgot that exists.

I play HoTD2 regularly. The multitude of routes, the brilliantly realized city, it's great stuff.
did anybody else learn how to touch type from typing of the dead?
Hands down. This has to be one of my favorite games. I don't know why but even after replaying this over a hundred times since I was a child, I can never get tired of HotD 1 & 2. What sort of dark magic did Sega do to make this game so addicting?
You can mimic it with a Wilmote.
AMS agents, OP
What's AMS's purview exactly? Fuck if I know, but apparently it deals with Zombies and such considering how they're practically the First Responders to the zombie outbreaks
See: Resident Evil.
Fucking BOWs got nothing on a bunch of shitty cops apparently.
How can you play HotD 1 on PC? I imagine the original port is a relative nightmare to set up and 2 & 3 can be emulated on Dolphin. I guess the question goes for HotD 4 but I bet that's not possible atm.
Hey now.
STARs aren't a bunch of shitty cops. They're a bunch of shitty swat officers. Big difference
1 can be played using any standard arcade emulator.
4 plays perfectly fine on PS3 through PSN providing you have a Playstation Move controller. Even includes the 2 stage long special campaign.

Most game companies after x amount of years if they are still up and running touch their game series. Like Overkill.
No. But I did learn from pre-zombification Mavis Beacon.
I seriously hope Extended Cut isn't what you see as the "definitive" version of Overkill
>adds 2 episodes with the hooker's point of view which were unfunny and mostly annoying and broke the pacing of the original
>redone cutscenes did not do the original justice
>My face when playing Zombie Revenge and House of the Dead is one of the stages
I liked more frenzied actioners like LA Machine Guns or Jurassic Park better
You could play The typing of the Dead. Same games but you have to type out words to shoot. It's fun and you get to practice fast and accurate typi g
>>redone cutscenes did not do the original justice
What do you mean? I played both the Wii and PS3 version, what did the PS3 change with the cutscenes?
You say the extra two levels broke the pacing. What fucking pacing? A bit part of the appeal for HotD is the fast paced shoot 'em up action, Overkill is slow as fuck and often boring, on the same tier as the Silent Hill on rail shooter. The levels were just as slow as every other one.
mavis beacon was also the shit
I felt really stupid when I found out she wasn't a real person
>Go to arcade that has lots of Japanese games
>Typing of the Dead is there
>Game is fucking easy mode
>My face when I reach a boss and it starts asking questions in Japanese
You guys don't have a local arcade that import Japanese and Korean cabs? What the fuck, even third world shitholes like the Philippines get them.
I've even been to random malls in North America that have a Jubeat machine tacked randomly away somewhere (granted it was a time when it was practically the only machine worth its weight in gold).
>walk into mall arcade
>kid is playing HotD 2 solo with both guns
>we start playing HotD 1 together
>carries me through the entire game
thanks bro. I was never good enough at that shit on my own and I'm glad I got to experience the whole thing.
There were a few PC copies floating around that used the mouse for input.
You can emulate the first one for sure, I assume the others can be as well. It sounds like it's more trouble setting up a controller than actually setting up the emulator.

I've been following the 2 links in that video.
Man, I wasn't even around to play it at its peak popularity, but I am pretty salty that MK8, a low point in the series, got more traction than Transformed did.
Fuck blind Nintendo fans.
>I felt really stupid when I found out she wasn't a real person
They lied to all of us, user. It was the death of our innocence.
sega saturn version is only home console port.
>mfw realizing nearly all the bosses were named after Tarot cards
i still don't understand the stories in this game series
at least Overkill didn't try to have a story and was just goofy shit
Curien was developing a cure for his son Daniel's disease. He went down the rabbit hole and ended up discovering the gene sequences for the Magician and the Wheel Of Fate where he promptly went off the deep end.Goldman holds a hatred for human beings because they exist outside the cycle of nature; constantly taking from the Earth but never giving back. He created the Emperor/rule over/destroy mankind. III happens because Curien had created the Wheel Of Fate in another lab and that game was about destroying it before it could do terrible things.
