Is The Witcher 3 the most beautiful game out there? I just took this screenshot during the middle of a low level quest with Ansel.

Yes.

No.

Maybe

modded Skyrim looks way better

Maybe.

Sup Forums

I don't know

It might be the prettiest game when you actually see it in motion. For some reason, a lot of that is lost in screenshots.

No but it had some good art design. The consoles causing the downgrade butchered it out of that position.

Why would you downsample an ansel screenshot to that resolution?

I like that it has weather system, nice foliage and that they took care in copypasting castles without being gaudy like recent From Software's attempts at map design.

That's about it. As a Slav, the game is extremely generic and Westernized compared to what Ice Pick Lodge does.

I agree, when everything is moving it just looks beatiful, also you don't notice the aliasing ingame. But on screenshots... bargh.

Anyone notice a huge increase in load time when talking to merchants since the patch?

Some high res screenshots don't seem to have any aliasing and the foliage looks super detailed. I don't know how they do it. This was captured at 12k or something but still looks kind of bad.

Not the best as far as graphic fidelity is concerned but when you take into account the arty style, design and how it all fits together thematically within such a well crated world I think you could make that claim.

Honestly, I think so. That said, the game can use some ini/cfg tweak because it's stupidly retricted in the option menu

Because Sup Forums has a max image size limit of 4MB.

I think Monster Hunter Online looks better.

save your shit as jpg you fucking mong

.png is no different except a higher bandwidth

the chinese malware that comes with it isn't worth it

So compress your image, you'll lose no quality but you'll have a higher resolution.

Is that game any good?

>png is no different except a higher bandwidth

>sharpening filter
>not even 1920x1080 resolution picture

Come on man. You have the best tools available to you and you blow it.

How do I compress an image without losing any quality?

What are the odds of Ansel being modded into older games that don't natively support it

PNG dont compress the pixels you douch, JPG is the worst of all formats of image, it is just largely used as a fast web loading format.

Isnt this a gameworks thing? So probably never.

Pretty close to zero. People who know how to do shit like that don't usually share their tools, that's the whole reason Nvidia Ansel was developed.
Even in the demonstration the CEO called out those fags who have access to code and know how to use it. He basically pissed on their faces saying everyone could have access to that shit now(for the games they'll support at least).

But other methods of freecam and what not are out there, there is cheatengine, gedosato, reshade, and these cinetools for instance cinetools.xyz/games/

That's a tough question to answer. It's Chinese language only right now, many people need to use a VPN to prevent the servers from dropping you, and it can be a challenge for people to make an account and install the game. These obstacles are usually too much of a hassle for people to consider playing.

Setting that aside: It's like a modern Freedom Unite with aspects from the new games, some MMO features used sparingly like a matchmaking system for hunts and a handful of hunts that are 8-16 player instead of the standard 4 maximum.

If you're disillusioned by some of the changes in mainline like mounting, swimming combat (now axed but you get the idea), weapon styles, ledges and whatnot, this is the Monhun game for you. This game strips away the bullshit while retaining the good things like some of the moveset changes, while making a few of it's own.

>It's Chinese language only right now
Uhh it has an official eng patch though and last I checked you didn't need a vpn.

I really hoped CDPR would fix the weather effects in a patch but they never did. The weather is one of the ugliest parts of the game.

It DID have an English patch, and it wasn't "official". You're thinking of this:
kogath.com/TeamHD/

Tencent encrypted their gamedata to protect against hacking and such and the English patch was killed as collateral damage. They might recuperate in the future but for now there's no English patch.

As for the VPN? Most of the people who play outside of China (there's a disqord server) all use Mudfish VPN because while the game ALLOWS you to play from any IP, if you don't use an intermediary VPN the servers will frequently drop you because of the lag from the packets traveling so far.

The one thing I didn't like about the weather was how it would be like 3 in the morning and it would be bright as day. It really takes you out of the game.

rip

>living in an age where the speed of light is too slow

The future is here, and it sucks.

Toussaint is nice.

That can be fixed with mods but nothing fixes the rain, lighting, or the sound of thunder/wind.

Too much sharpening, but the game does look good

...

I've used some of those before but the only other games I've felt the kind if control Ansel is providing would be Bethesda games, I'd love to see it in games like Alice, Metro, Souls, or even Dragon's Dogma

...

So I just put together a new PC and I'm wondering. Should I play 1 and 2 or just jump right into 3?
Kinda worried about how 1 might have aged.

...

I still struggle to understand what was going through their minds when they implemented that color filter.

The first game is the best in the series but the combat is extremely hard to get into. It's not that its aged, its that it was never intuitive. That said, I highly recommend smashing your head against your keyboard until you like it and playing through the entire game before continuing with the series. They're direct sequels after all.

The Witcher 3 doesn't even look as good as Crysis 1.

Creating a huge contrast to the other regions, setting a warm and fairytale like mood.
It's prefect.

It's a mystery. It doesn't look horrible but if the sky was normal looking I think it would look better.

Modded Skyrim looks outstanding in screenshots, but still same old fuck ugly Skyrim in gameplay.

The Witcher looks great in screenshots, but truly unparalleled during gameplay.

Most decidedly the best looking game to date.

Only Deus Ex:MD, in rooms with lots of glass and mixed lighting looks near as good.

Yeah but they could've done all that with, y'know, the actual lighting and assets. They literally just slapped a filter over everything, it even reduced the color gamut.

Crysis looks better than The Witcher 3.

Unpopular casual opinion here, but the series gets better with each game. Starting from 3 is fine and honestly I'd recommend it.

Thanks m8s.

>but truly unparalleled during gameplay.
Like said, even Crysis looks better. TW3 doesn't have enough graphics to be anywhere near unparalleled, hell even the animation work is closer to garbage than to good and that holds back the visuals in motion a lot.

It doesn't in reality, but you're entitled to be wrong.

OP isn't willing to actually discuss his topic, this thread is over.

Wow, buttmad FPS fag rampaging through I see...

Maybe you should purchase quality components and try the game at max settings rather than comparing Sup Forums screenshots like a NEET plebeian.

Every patrician knows the first one is the best in the series, easily, just don't be a scrub and quit early because of muh combat, or muh graphixxx.

The graphics outside of characters are still great.

I wouldn't think that was an uncommon opinion.

All were great games but they really did manage to step it up with each release.

It is among fans of the series. It's not among fanboys of a particular game.

Each release was bigger but buggier with overall less polish and love.

>It playing and looking like shit are just memes, and if you ignore those major aspects it's totally fine

I honestly can't even tell if you're serious.

>I honestly can't even tell if you're serious.

Same here, what I meant to say is that, the game might seem a bit archaic if you're someone used to Witcher 2 and 3 or modern games but give it a chance and it will grow on you. It absolutely does not look and play like shit, only people with terrible taste in vidya think that.

I haven't put much time into it so I won't argue about the quality of the combat, but there is no fucking way that it could be argued that the models don't look terrible.

I'll argue it.

...

It's pretty good-looking, but I think Battlefield 1 has overtaken it in terms of texture quality and weather effects.

Witcher 2 has better texture quality and weather effects than its sequel.

>That ridiculous armor and sword
Do people actually think this looks cool?

Part of the reason why I like The Witcher 3 is because the armor and weaponry in it isn't oversized nonsensical fantasy shit

I think it's cooler than TW3.

Which is just as nonsensical in that Geralt has swords on his back and uses magic instead of ingenuity like MH heroes.

That's the Cera Symmetry, in MH games it is often one of the best Greatswords in the game because of its insanely high raw damage. It has nothing to do with looks.

Battlefield 1 doesn't look all that good to me, although it could just be because of the one map we've been playing.

It doesn't.
It has good graphics for 2012, but nowhere near as good as Witcher 3. Fuck off, contrarian.

>that banding

Imo it looks really good, even on console.
Look at the leather jackboots of the Ottoman soldiers, for example, and they look almost exactly like the real thing close up. The texture quality is amazing on many objects.

It doesn't. Not only that but anyone who plays TW3 should get the HD texture pack, too. It looks significantly better.

Question: Is Witcher 3 worth getting even though I haven't played the first two? I have 2 that I got from a Steam Sale. Play that first?

general beg thread:

I'm looking to get into csgo trading but I have barely any skins, could you guys possibly send me some skins that you don't need ?

steamcommunity.com/tradeoffer/new/?partner=364686691&token=oYbZH104

But, it -literally- does. This isn't up for debate.

TW3s weather effects, rain in particular, was made up of white lines drawn on 2 texture sheets while TW2's were transparent particles. It was objectively better.

And so are the textures because they're actually HD and hugely detailed because the world was smaller. TW3 textures are quite bad even for an open world game.

There was also far more attention spent on speculars and the ambient occlusion so you never felt a room or scene was dead like you do in TW3, image related.

The texture pack isn't even that good and TW2 has one too if I'm not mistaken.

You guys, the JUST meme didn't sprout from the darkness, it came from laughing at TW3's downgrade.

Just start on 3. If you like it you can go back to 2.

Meanwhile.

are you using mods to get such a dark nights?

>moon position and barrel shadows don't allign

Hurts my autism.

...

Here's what I use

>TW3 Reworked Project
Gives HD textures
>Super Turbo Lightning Mod
Tries to recreate the 2014 trailer lighting
>Friendly HUD
Allows you to hide HUD elements, adds a bunch of cool functionality to hold a button to meditate (and watch time fly by as you're meditating). Also zooms out the minimap slightly, allows you to fully zoom out the main map, etc.
>Autoloot
Auto loots enemies on kill
>Over 9000 weight
I don't care to go back to town to sell shit every 10 minutes
>All quest objectives on the map
Shows non-active quests on your map. Should be a thing in the game by default.
>Auto apply oils
Saves you the time from going to your inventory and applying an oil every fight.

The technical quality of the assets isn't anything incredible but the all of the little details they put into the environment sets it apart.

>making a valid point

>your wrong im right

Oh, what could have been.

This game is ugly.

The technology is extremely impressive, but goddamn is it ugly.

>truly unparalleled during gameplay.
I couldn't play the game because the gameplay was so fucking bad.

What is wrong with you?

No one would be able to run it outside of the 980 ti/sli tier.

meme

You don't even have the slightest clue as to what the difference in those images are. The performance impact is minimal.
Also
>hurr what are graphics settings?

God I forgot how fucking ugly the old Yen model was.

I'm still pissed they changed Yennifer's model.
