I don't see what's so good about the "Renaissance" movies anyway. They're all very basic stories with some okay musical numbers and tons of money thrown at the animation.

I think the "era" started when disney stopped shitting out direct-to-dvds and letting pixar spank it, and started making good animated features again. I.E. when Bolt came out.

Really, it happened when Disney nutted up and bought Pixar out. That put Lasseter in charge of features and they've been pretty good since then. Excluding his penchant for cars, the guy just knows a good kids movie.

It's pretty obvious that after Gigantic comes out they're just going to be milking what they already have with sequels. I'm expecting Frozen 2, Zootopia 2, and BH6 2 to be the line up for 2020 onward. Tangled is already getting a fucking tv show next year.

The blanche deveroe tier side heroine was actually the best princess that Disney produced in a long time
The movie had a laid back fun atmosphere that was really enjoyable.
Did not like the fuccboi prince or the fact that they spent most of the movie as frogs.
REALLY wished Tiana had kept the original Maddie name and was related to a old voodoo woman and had to stop facilea(sp?) from getting something that would make him immortal or something and needed the help of the frog prince.

to be fair it feels like whoever was in charge of marketing constantly tried to make the 2D animated movies do bad.

just the name "princess and the frog" was a terrible fucking decision because no boy wants to see a movie with princess in the title. hence why rapunzel was turned into tangled and the snow queen into frozen.

not to mention i hardly saw much advertising for the movie when it came out. just a lot of controversy that a black princess is a frog most of the movie.
