How do you feel about amiibos? Do you like them more as decoration or additional content for a game?

How do you feel about amiibos? Do you like them more as decoration or additional content for a game?

Shittiest, scummiest thing Nintendo has ever done.

Not even close.

>"It prints money!" - Nintendo
As much as I hate having to spend extra money for unlockables, I do like having them on my shelves.

I'm only buying them for the figures. The only one I brought for the "content" is the Dorf.

>Do you like them more as decoration

Most people just get them for decoration or collector's item.

I think that most people don't really give a fuck about the unlockable content.

Decoration.

>I think that most people don't really give a fuck about the unlockable content.

Mainly because they've yet to do anything really good with it. I'm waiting for the full blown Skylanders ripoff

How?

They're still figurines of Nintendo characters, and theres hardly "DLC" behind it. Anyone who complains about them are cry babies

they're nice figures, but that's about it

I prefer it if they make a Nintendo Infinity rip off.

Biggest cancer in gaming history. Made Nintendo worse than EA

Exclusive game content locked behind limited edition DLC

I like having shelf decorators and figures of my favorites. The content is just a bonus.

I hate scalpers and nintendo for not printing them 24/7
trying to buy a rosalina and see only $250+ is fucking hell

Figurines there'd be no decent source of otherwise. I have a few for characters I like, but don't even own a system that can use them.

I've bought a decent amount of amiibos and can safely say that none of the content is worth a damn

It's always been a cash grab.

The quality is low and the artificial scarcity is fucking annoying.

I feel like the dlc stuff that's locked off is always minor and basically ignorable.

As for the amiibos themselves, I like them as figures and have a few just to display on my shelf. I keep them boxed just because I'll never actually use them.

You're probably looking in the wrong places.

The scalping shit was temporary. Only a select few are pricey anymore.

This, it is only good for decoration with something else on the side

I think they should have only made Smash amiibos, but I don't think the amiibo train is stopping anytime soon unfortunately.

Amiibos are good for characters that wouldn't get merchandise normally.

I'd like to get Zelda/Tetra but I don't need another Toon Link so I'll just get the Pixel Link and be done with it.

My advice is to order outside the US.
I've seen stores with FULL STOCKS of nigh impossible to get amiibos.
Doesn't help any that the entire "scalping" is so prolific and Nintendo wastes their time going after stuff like fan-works and ignores crap like that.

The nendoroid is cuter

But I'm addicted to Wind Waker stuff so I'm getting the amiibos anyway

how high does japan import fees go?

true, and these ones don't have different functionality like the Kirby amiibos

The Kirby ones are actually different from the Smash ones, they grant different powers in Robobot

I've opened like maybe three, kept the rest in the box. I'll be picking up this sexy beast on launch.

Most of them have been or are being reprinted. The exclusivity deals are expiring too

$11 you can buy shit from amazon.jp now

I cant believe I'm contemplating buying the 8-bit Link Happy Meal toy.

I have an unopened Rosa I will sell you for $20 tonight.

>mfw possible OoT Ganon beast mode

They said they would for Breath of the Wild

I'm getting this too and then getting Pixel Link since I might as well get them all

Decoration.
But some amiibo content can be fun.

>already have Smash Link
>already have Wolf Link
>can't wait to grab this, 8-bit Link, WW Link and both BotW Links
Help.

That's a weird looking dick he's sucking.

I like the cards.

Give in user, Link is best boy afterall.

It's a GameCube joy pad, you retard.

>tfw It unlocks an 8bit wooden sword in BotW

When they're easy to obtain, made well, and have decent game functionality, they're pretty good. It allowed characters like Mr. Game & Watch and Waddle Dee to get official merchandise as figures. I can see why people would hate them though.

They're printing out amiibo faster than games can have meaningful content for them. There isn't a universal game for them either which is even worse.

I mean, there's gonna be like 5 Links that almost all have different uses over a variety of games and even different uses among the same games, but Shulk or Little Mac or Ness have use with Smash, MarioMaker and shit else. Even if there's applications that would make sense (Shulk/Fiora cosplay armor in XCX for instance), they're not used.

As long as Amiibo content is either purely cosmetic, unlockable via other means or both I'm fine with it. For instance Codename Steam's usage of them was pretty cool but not being able to unlock the 4 FE characters via x amount of medals was bull.

>Original Link isn't based on his art work
>just lol pixels meme

JUST

Be honest with yourself. Less people would buy it without the pixels.

Yeah, they should launch a skylander/infinity game on the NX that let's you use all current amiibo in an adventure or party game like setting

They should do what amiibo festival was originally meant to be. A free game where you paid by buying the amiibos.
