Not really, pokemon is "mainstream" to a nerd level, pokemon go made pokemon actually mainstream (as it was in the 90s), that always spells doom for most franchises.

Pokémon has never been unpopular, but it's not "mainstream" to the extent it was in Gen 1. It's not a global phenomenon anymore, it's just a regular franchise.

If you can enjoy playing a game made for children while putting a braindead amount of effort into it, it says more about you than the people you're criticizing.
