What the FUCK is Nintendo doing?
Shit controls. Shit game. No fucking clue why Sup Forums has such a massive boner for it
it's fun
the characters are entertaining
the music is good
the multiplayer is serviceable
>never played it
>always wanted to
>should i get it?
>if i get it tell me if i like it or not
It's one of the few console shooters where aiming isn't shit.
t. limp-wristed faggot
>brought Kid Icarus back into the Nintendo spotlight
By completely fucking ruining Kid Icarus.
>sold well
Meh, not quite.
more than pretty much every 3DS exclusive
>Shit controls.
The only downfall imo. fucking 1 stick ruined it
Only if you're a lefty.
:'(
The only reason why I wish this game had a twin stick control option is so I could destroy people online while using the default control scheme. Everybody says it would be better but it would be impossible to beat this game on higher levels that way.
No it didn't, a game doesn't sell well just because you like it.
Didn't it sell over a million copies?
probs the most polished 3ds game i've played
it's literally a top-5 3ds exclusive title in terms of sales
PIT
It barely sold over 1 million and the 3DS top 5 all sold over 10 million copies.
source: muh dik
the only 3DS exclusive that sold over 10m is pokemon XY
As the Outlaws strategy guide commented on the difference between playing with a mouse and playing with a joystick...
"Master the mouse, or become a convenient target for those who have."
The same parallel can be drawn between KIU's touchpad aiming and a theoretical dual-stick option. It would indeed be totally inferior. The chumps on Sup Forums would never clear all levels on 9.0 intensity like that.
>the only 3DS exclusive that sold over 10m is pokemon XY
Nope
this is a reddit image
take it with salt
Don't you mean fixing, kid icarus was decent at best, uprising is the best in the series by far.
Sakurai doesn't want to make one, and Nintendo is weird about they handle franchises.
They aren't going to touch it ever again unless one of the devs under them come to them with a concept they approve of, which is unlikely, especially for such a small series.
Probably my favourite game for the 3DS. I have so many games to finish but I just keep going back to it. I've never kept up with how it sold, but if Nintendo released another, I would be all over that.
I've heard some people got sore wrists from it, but I've never had an issue. Maybe it's because I only played when I went on a long train ride?
HADES
The obvious thing to do is hire former Factor 5 employees and let them make that KI game they pitched.
should've been a wiiu game.
I never saw much discussion about that and always just assumed it was fake.
If it was real then they should stay far away because that stuff looked nasty.
do you honestly think they'd let sakurai out of the Smash Dungeon after Kerfuffle?
it ain't happenin' boyo.
he escaped once, but now he's there for life.
I hope if they ever make a sequel the give the option to use the gyroscope instead of the stylus for who I assume are fat fucks.
Given how they're putting some Wii U games on the 3DS, I really fucking wish that they would throw a bone to the Wii U would get an upscaled high res KI:U.
That OST on anything that isn't the 3DS speakers sound would be glorious, let alone surround sound.
Holding the gamepad for that long would probably get uncomfortable though.
>Don't you mean fixing
I don't consider turning the franchise into half a shitty Space Harrier clone and half a shitty third-person action game with terrible writing for both parts to be "fixing" anything.
>t. kid icarus purist
no one gives a fuck you autist, kid icarus nes and gameboy were clusterfucks of different genres mashed together without any sort of consistency, if anything uprising follows that tradition
Really I'm not sure how you would accurately modernize a series like that without just making a bunch of shit up, though I was imagining something closer to Zelda or Metroid back before Uprising.
Do you really want current year Nintendo making a sequel? Make sure you buy the Pit Amiibo to unlock the best weapons!
Nope, I had no issues either. Well, not after playing it for a bit. People who complain about the controls played the game for two hours at the most.
>Make sure you buy the Pit Amiibo to unlock the best weapons!
Too be honest a way to get specific weapon abilities would be an improvement as I didn't like the randomness of it all in Uprising.
>sells on par with/possibly better than Fire Emblem Awakening
>for some reason Awakening is touted as some massive success
>KIU isn't when there was literally a 21 year gap between the entires
I honestly don't get it myself. Like, does Sakurai have a lock on the IP?
Elliot quest was a better Icarus than this
>random
Fusion is less random than you'd think. I've crafted some fine weapons thanks to the info I gleaned from other users when the online was in it's prime. I'm confident that I could beat most people thanks to that, though there are still plenty of people in the crowd I used to play with that are way better than me.
It's Metroid, Zelda, and Mario put together in a blender and mixed, and it was wonderful.
Uprising is Space Harrier but worse, a bad third person action game, a horrible camera, and budget anime tier writing put into a blender and mixed up, and the result is a trainwreck.
The difference between the original games and Uprising is that the original games used good games as a reference point and didn't ruin them in the process of making Kid Icarus.
KI didn't really go through the same long-term struggle to break into the mainstream that FE did, and FE has Intelligent Systems backing it practically on a constant basis. KI had Sakurai come on once and then he immediately said he was never coming back to it.
>Do you really want current year Nintendo making a sequel?
Yes.
Just saying "it's bad" without explaining why doesn't sound very convincing.
>the original games used good games as a reference point
>Space Harrier isn't a good game
This is how I know you have shit taste you retard fucking Nintenyearold
...
What's wrong with Nintendo is a corporate culture of insularity, one that goes from the top all the way down to the bottom and infects at least the North American publishing arm as well. Yamauchi is dead. Iwata is dead. Miyamoto's admittedly great history of success means he doesn't have to listen to anyone even when the fanbase would disagree with him, he has a habit of making decisions for developers, and it's worth noting that for every time in the last fifteen years that his interference led to a Metroid Prime, there's also at least one Star Fox Adventures. Sakurai is basically just "the guy who does Smash" even when he wants every Smash to be the last time he's stuck with the series. Reggie is constantly jealous: the last guy to sit in his chair got to move up to the Japanese division and become the company President and CEO, but that'll never happen to Reggie because of Japanese ethnocentrism, and so he has to remain content with being a meme and with exercising what power he does have by hiring a localization team who ruin games and are allowed to continue ruining games because the men on top of the company only really care about the Japanese market, and the Japanese market just wants Pokemon and more recently Yo-Kai Watch.
Fact is, guys, Nintendo went to shit because they stopped caring for their longtime fans, especially Western fans. Japanese kids will eat up anything as long as it's full of monstrosities designed as near-parodies of the traits that biology has wired our brains to consider "cute", with disproportionately huge heads and impossibly large eyes and otherwise cartoony, simplified designs, and so Nintendo has focused nearly all their efforts on appealing to that customer, whose urges are easy to understand and just as easy to satisfy. People who want more than that have been barely acknowledged, with IPs like Metroid and Star Fox slapped onto whatever product Nintendo feels like pushing, and other IPs, like F-Zero, have been ignored.
It has one of the worst control schemes of a game I've ever played.
git gud
But seriously, it's a lot better than twin sticks but some people simply can't adapt to it.
Impressive
The game would be fine control wise of you could use he shoulder buttons to control the camera. Using the stylus is uncomfortable for camera control.
>boneitis uprising
You had me there for a second
yet another successful game that Nintendo doesn't try to capitalize on. I guess that should be a good thing seeing as they would make the follow up game shit.
That sounds very counterintuitive when the aiming is tied to the stylus.
It didn't sell very well
Then make it so you control the camera with the shoulder buttons and aim with the stylus.
That's exactly what I meant when I said counterintuitive. You would have to change the camera with the shoulder buttons before shooting to kill enemies that aren't in front of you instead of just draging the stylus to the edge of the screen.
>make cards
>say on the website they'll be available for purchase in NA
>only sell/give booster packs away at two cons
I'm still mad.
>we'll try to make people buy cards for that model collecting shit
>but sir they're just taking pictures of them
>all they need to pirate our product is a scanner
>THIS MUST BE STOPPED
hundreds of mediafire DMCAs later, amiibo cards were invented
Just wait for a sequel, it has only been like, 5 years?
20 more to go.
I just wanted to play the AR battle game with them.
You could unlock almost all of the idols in-game anyway. Just a few were exclusive to being scanned and one never even got released.
Being left handed was a fucking nightmare when playing this, my wrist would kill after half an hour. What I played was pretty great though.
did you use a circle pad pro? i know the feature was there but i don't know how helpful it actually was.
Nah. I was keeping an eye out for one specifically to play this but I ended up completely forgetting about the game. Might try it on the n3ds later and see if the new nub works with it
This and the only other way to had get AR cards was like the few that game with the game, 2 you get from buying the guide book or if you entered that shitty contest that gave you all the AR cards and only one person could have one that.
That was pretty bullshit, I'm guessing they thought it would only have a chance of catching on in Japan so they said fuck it to the other markets.
Maybe it didn't get a sequel because it was mostly made by Sakurai and he was put back into his slavery position where he has to cough up Smash Bros content
This game needs a remaster in Wii U or a sequel + remaster in NX. Fix a bit the on foot sections adapting it to two sticks control and you are done.
>NSMB2 actually hit over 10 million
Why? It's the weakest Mario game in a while
I want to play as Lady Palutena!
Mamma Mia garbage will always sell, regardless of quality, as long as Mamma Mia man is on the cover.
NSMB sells shitloads despite the complete lack of effort.
Not at all. It didn't sell enough to get a Nintendo Selects reprint. Even Yoshi's New Island sold more.
I like the game too, it didn't bomb at all but it didn't sell like hotcakes either.
The first two kid icarus was fucking shit though
The NES game is pretty fun and has good music. Sometimes when I'm bored I'll playthrough it. It's short and I've kinda mastered it by this point. That Gameboy one is some ass though.
Air controls are great, but the ground controls are shit.
I wish they had let you use the damn nub on the N3DS or the second analogue with the pro thingy to swing the camera, but instead they use it for fucking movement and don't let me switch it.
Every other control is customizable except that. For fuck's sake.
it was a sakurai game
sakurai hates sequels unless it's smash, and the team was broken up so no one wants to attempt to recreate the uprising feel
for animu reasons, don't let anyone tell you otherwise. It's just the right amount of cringy dialogue, waifu sprites and your run-of-the-mill story for you're average weeb.
>sakurai hates sequels
When will people stop saying sourceless lies regarding Sakurai?
it's literally the reason he left HAL, being contantly forced to churn out more kirby
casual faggot
Why are they all going to waste
quints don't lie, 's opinions is trashed and invalid.
this
spotted the leftie subhuman
>I don't consider turning the franchise into...
No really, what?
Kid Icarus hasn't had a single thing consistent about it in both of it's sequels.
Of Myths and Monsters plays nothing like the original and carries nothing from the original except Pit, Palutena, and Skyworld.
So are you complaining about every game but the first?
in europe you could buy them in club nintendo
currently you can buy them in the nintendo store on their website
"It was tough for me to see that every time I made a new game, people automatically assumed that a sequel was coming," said Sakurai, in an interview with Nintendo Dream, two weeks after he resigned from HAL. He explained that, "even if it's a sequel, lots of people have to give their all to make a game, but some people think the sequel process happens naturally."
he also said specifically in regards to uprising that he won't make a sequel and that maybe someone else will "in another 25 years"
hey, I'm lefty and fucking loved the game.
Aiming with your right hand isn't hard when you're a lefty.
Aiming is completely different from writing.
>no recognition
I like Pittoo
Fight me.
Just wait for the sequel, a side scrolling platformer on the New 3DS
he should have been a palette swap, not another character
for fucks sake there are 8 characters under bowser jr and yet the pits which are clones are separate
Once you realize that he's still a dork beneath all of the EDGE, he grows on you pretty quick.
>a side scrolling platformer
You mean like the first two games? ;^)
>It didn't sell enough to get a Nintendo Selects reprint.
Why did Pikmin 3 get a Nintendo Selects reprint then?
He's not a dork, he's just gay.
