because you fail @ life

You can't even name one objective flaw

+improved visuals
+explorable overworld

~more gimmicks than dkc2

-mostly boring DK coins

I dunno

Thats not Tropical Freeze.

>tropical freeze
>being good at all
GET OUT NORMIE

-music is shit

I hear David Wise redid the soundtrack on the GBA version though.

>music list
Dkc3 > dkc > dk2

I think you mean
Dkc3 < dkc < dk2

I don't understand why people like dk2 music so much

Now you're on drugs.

Because there is something seriously wrong with your fucking ears. DKC 2 literally has one of the best OSTs out of the entire SNES library. Only shit like Chrono Trigger can touch it.

I understand if you compared dk3 with CT but not dk2

>Music is shit
youtu.be/UbGDDNL26VA
Sure

That sounds like ass, there's no melody there at all

Finally someone that gets it

It's not.
It's really fucking great, though, and I love the overworld.

I'll add my 2 cents.

+Some of the best visuals on the SNES (Seriously check out that fucking lake in the first level)
+Explorable overworld
+RPG elements aren't in your face and help keep the overworld from being a glorified map screen
+Level design is a tiny bit more polished than 2
+Bosses are kind of neat. Actually require more than just throwing a barrel at it.
+Best fucking bonus theme youtube.com/watch?v=DwZo98SIGw4

~Northern Hemisphere themed game is either love it or hate it
~Music is iffy but there's some gems in there

-Gimmicky level designs
-Ellie is pretty shit and her water gimmick is woefully underused
-Kidde is apointless additonn and would have been better with DK
-Needing everything to get the best ending is gay
-Fuck the Simon Says Banan Bird caves
-Final Boss is supremely shit
-Whatever the fuck Squirt is

>-Needing everything to get the best ending is gay
>-Fuck the Simon Says Banan Bird caves

It's the worst by a large margin.

But it's better than the SNES ones except 2, which it's on par with.

- hideous art style
- kiddie kong
-no diddy or donkey
-k rool looks dumb
-shittiest music of the series

>thinking that can even hold a candle to this.
youtube.com/watch?v=wYyMNXM8Kgg

nah, dude's right. dkc2 it bitchin. so radical. so spooky. so forbeodding. memorable tunes. makes my nuts erect

What's you 2 cents about dkc2?

To get the final ending in DKC2 all you needed to do was get the bonus coins (To gain access to the secret world)

In 3 you need to do every Brother's Bear Quest, get every Bonus Coin, Get every DK coin (For Funky's final vehicle) and every Banana Bird Cave. It's just too much

originally it was supposed to be donkey kong and dixie kong but they decided to make a dk reskin for some odd reason

You cant here the beat? How do you enjoy music?

Plus you can't even cheat in coins the bear calls you out on it if you have too many coins.

Great Music
God Tier atmosphere
Above average level design
I hate paying for saves
Final Area is the coolest looking shit in a SNES game since Chrono Trigger

Should i get it on my 3ds?

It was a lazy sequel. DKC 1 and 2 are god tier games, DKC3 is a letdown

>You cant here the beat?

A beat isn't a song. It's just a beat. If it was enough, any retard who can tap their foot can please you.

It's just sound effects and motiffs. Like what you would start out with to establish the atmosphere of the level, then come back later and make it worth listening to.

Im sorry you can't hear melody

This doesn't even come close to DKC 2 music.
youtube.com/watch?v=BkRvgb27xnU
But I love DKC 3 too, just not as much as 2

We did listen to the same track right? Even denial has limits.

Nothing can compare to the best of the best tho
youtu.be/CAMVWQjrPcs

Sorry OP. DKC1 and 2 are better

You have to baiting me. You're the only one who thinks this

Nope, I think this too. Shit music man

>samefriending this hard

It just sounds like generic rock music to fit a level. Doesn't even come close to other DK entries.

Is pretending to like DKC3's soundtrack a meme or some shit? I have to know

time to blog:
>dad works nightshift
>come home form school, fire up DKC1 to try for umpteenth time to get to and finish the boss
>dad walks past and says he finished it

Good times

Have you even played DKC3?
I found Nuts and Bolts to fit perfectly with the level

That's what I'm saying though. It's just generic placement music to fit a level. There are OSTs that go well in-game but you wouldn't listen to outside of that. I'm not saying all of DKC 1 & 2 had stellar compositions, but they're much more memorable and a lot of more time was put into it.

DKC3 also has good tunes
youtube.com/watch?v=uAaWOjhaVCs
youtube.com/watch?v=57FQ_L0lH5c
youtube.com/watch?v=kWzDASEEvTQ

each one fitting the game and underlining the level.
DKC2s msuic was better but DKC3 only falls short because 2 was a fucking SNES masterpiece

I'm not understanding the hate for this track.

DKC1 and 2 have hands down better music. Sorry DKC3 fags but you're literally just being hipsterfags so stop. Still, this track is an example of a really good track from DKC3 and there is melody. It also fits REALLY WELL with the levels its featured in.

>fit perfectly with the level

That doesn't make it good music for listening

You can nail the atmosphere, tone, and theme you need, and produce something that's totally mediocre. This is what I meant by It sounds like a starting point instead of a finished song

Alright user, I see your point and its a good one. A person listening to a bunch of vidya music at random probably wouldn't dig this song unless they played the game and knew the levels it were from.

...but they'd probably love Hot-Head Bop. I mean listen to this shit: youtube.com/watch?v=RByuSJVyu68

>born 94
>my earliest memories are of me being one or two watching my my dad and older brother play dck
>remember watching my dad beat the game
>could never beat it as a kid growing
>dad always told me I'd be able to do it one day
>give up
>fast forward a few years
>dad and i grow apart
>be 17 and dust off the old snes and try again
>dad sees me playing a we dtart to reconnect with each other
>few months later dad got cancer in his lungs
>doesn't look good
>as we're just chilling in the hospital room he tells me to go home and get the snes and dkc
>he wants to play one last time before he "kicks the bucket"
>say sure and drive home to get
>as im walking to my dads room i hear noise that I've heard on tv shows before
>i could feel my face get pale and my stomach drop
>i opened the door
>get on the floor
>everyone do the dinosaur

>first one is good
>second one is fine
>third one is mario 64 castle music

Please tell me you knew that last one right? Also the tolerable tracks pretty much end there. Whereas with DKC and DKC2, the shit tracks are a small minority.

And I'll concede that the music just allowing you to feel an area is just as legitimate as being groovy

Thanks for talking it through user

how has this song not been posted yet?
youtube.com/watch?v=MsWBo13UxJQ

I agree with you OP, fuck the haters.

>WAAH IM TOO SCRUB TO HANDLE KIDDY KONG
fags need to die off. And the ones who ignore the game design because they cant get over the comfy camp setting need to kill themselves

I love the setting user

It's just that the music and level design isn't as good as the games that came before it. I really like the bosses with the exception of the Final boss, but the true final boss is pretty great too.

Warning - Hot opinions coming through.

Gameplay: 2>3>1
Music: 2>1>3
Level Design: 2>3>1
Secrets: 2>3>1

You spelled shit opinions wrong

I bet you think DK1 is better then DK3 even though it really isn't.

>DKC2 is the definitive DKC game hands down
>the hipsters have aneurysms over this

I seriously love watching you guys avoid the truth. DKC2 is the best one. Always was. Always will be.

Best track of DKC1 hands-down:

youtube.com/watch?v=n3Sjr4e9YGo

youtube.com/watch?v=lIDr1FOhpkM

I enjoyed DKC3's SNES soundtrack, but this is the shit right here.

Wise fucked up with the snow theme, though

Yes he did youtube.com/watch?v=PwEzeoxbHMQ

We're talking about good tracks.
Not mediocrity, make a new thread for that

Agree completely...everything good about 1 was improved on in the future games and it was just a bit more shallower compared to the later two...most of the bosses were piss easy as well

Dk '94 is the best Donkey Kong game

youtu.be/EoVcf2sjgYs

This was playing as BGM in an episode of Bizarre Foods, for some reason

Not the one who posted it but it's one of my favourite atmospheric tracks. It sets the mood for the levels it's used in perfectly and when everything kicks off at 0:50, it's just too good.

I knew it would be this one

>great song held back by shit GBA sound

Its not because stickerbrush symphony
Its okay though

As soon as I heard David Wise was composing Tropical Freeze, I hoped that he would remake some of these songs, but oh well

Theres too many games you could say that about. Advance wars and fire emblem come to mind.

youtu.be/-7wsO68IwAQ
youtu.be/NSENH7rwy3g

true so true

youtube.com/watch?v=6wPufa3Xu0I

Honestly user, this is my all-time favorite. It corrected every single flaw with the predecessors and added a lot of new things like vehicles, trades, banana birds and Koin enemies which are pretty fun to defeat. The maps are also much better with free exploration and progression rather than depending on coins to hire a plane or save.

I don't get it why everyone hates DKC3. Kiddy isn't a valid reason.

>better than SNES ones
hahahahahahahaha

best songs in each game are
youtube.com/watch?v=n3Sjr4e9YGo
youtube.com/watch?v=upZAxeT416g
youtube.com/watch?v=57FQ_L0lH5c
youtube.com/watch?v=8I5LsMYYL2o
youtube.com/watch?v=WA2WjP6sgrc

a bit unrelated question, but I didn't know much english when I was a kid. was there hints in the game how to find that volcano in the overworld? or how were you suppose to find it?

remember playing dkc3 when cousin was visiting. her father is like "do you want to see something cool?" then he just goes circles around the rocks and a fucking volcano rises from the water. it was pretty cool back then.

This has to be a rhetorical question.

FUCK ya got me

No one hates it. It's just the weakest of the three.

>exploration

You don't exactly get an assload of freedom. You can choose to explore the map to find Banana birds and there is like one or two times in the game where you can choose to go to this zone or that, but for the most part Progression is the exact same + item barriers.

You criticize the prequels for the dependence on currency but apparently have no problem with the bears being gatekeeprs that require you to fetch them ultra-specific one time items.

>Kiddy is worse than Diddy and Donkey
>The music is flat out worse
>Many levels just simply aren't as good, others are every bit as great. Snow, Water, and Rocky Mountain levels, and the treetop levels are high quality for example. Cave levels are aight. Opening levels aren't good imo
>The new bird animal buddy adds literally nothing to the gameplay
>The Squitter the Spider sections are unbelievably and pathetically short compared to DKC2

My jungle primate
>Best world map
>Best hidden secrets
>Nice vertical levels

Why did DK move from getting through levels, with minigames just being totally option for getting extra lives (DK Classic) to "minigames are required to progress through the game via DK coins" (DK3 and DK 64)

DKC is still a better library than DKC2

disco train was pretty good, but I'm more of a flight of the zinger kinda guy myself

>DKC3 had shitty Squitter the Spider sections compared to DKC2

yeah you know what now that you mention it, this is true

They really wanted you to use Ellie the Elephant a whole lot too by comparison. Made me feel like shit because Squitter is simply more fun.

I used to love these things for completionists, I got 102% and 103% on 2 and 3 respectively, although now as an adult I find the idea of trawling through levels looking for things distinctly unappealing.

awful:
music
kiddie kong
enemy (re)designs
bosses
gimmicks like reversed controls
simon says

still a good game but why did they do these things

>DKC1 and 2
>Cool Rhino that tears through everything and is nearly invincible
>DKC3
>Shit elephant that hinders you nearly every time the game forces you to play as her.

These types of games are perfect for when you don't own many games(ya know, like when you're a kid) but when you're an adult with so many options its simply less fun than just playing the levels, you know?

I forgot about that elephant until you said that. Fucking thing turns and runs every time you come across a mouse from memory.

Yep. Sound reasoning.

ya know.

>not loving the reversed controls level near the end of the game

pleb

I mean you're right about everything else but really user that level is pretty fun

ya know

flight of tbe zinger made the hive levels feel way more intense than the other levels.

yea I got like 1 new game/year. so didn't have much choice to just play that game until the next year.

The bear after the second world gives you a hint but i think thats about it.

and i frickin loved it

Of all the great DKC2 track, you choose the shittiest one. Lockjaw's Saga, nigger.

DKC3 is by far the easiest game to 100% of the series. There's a lot of stuff, but it's rarely a challenge until you get to world 7 (and even then it's still not too difficult).
