The 'Parrot' in Peru is known as "Kahliv" [Kah-leave] due to how they hunt and use their beaks as tools. Instead of using them to crack or pierce, they use them as a sort of cleaver to get through roots, vines, fruits etc

They chose the Kahliv parrot of Peru as a symbol for the 'cleave' motion.

I thought this was an axe for years not a hand dropping a sword. I liked that they re-used so many of these icons in WoW.

I misinterpreted many of these icons for awhile didn't help the first few years I played both games was on a 1024x768 monitor.

I am pretty sure this icon was introduced in WoW.

'Ruby fly', 'Blood fly' etc, it has heaps of different names, most stemming from the colour of the wings.

The Blood fly is native to southern Sudan in Africa, it's not found anywhere else of the planet. While they aren't an immediate danger, they are known to carry disease and sickness, simultaneously being immune to the effects.

Much like the moth, this particular species of fly is attracted to the colour red.

It's used in WoW though as a placeholder icon, you normally wouldn't see it on a retail server unless something was really fucking broke. Quite common to see it on a shitty private server though.

True, but it was also used on a bunch of testing spells in Vanilla WoW. I believe a square cube model with that face was also present on one of the developer islands before they were removed from the game.

It took me a good minute to see the parrot. It's obviously an axe with a motion blur effect behind it.

The ability is called kick though, and rogues are known for using daggers and small swords, and while they can use axes too, it's not exactly the staple image of a rogue.
