Why is it so bad? What went wrong?
Why is it so bad? What went wrong?
whats bad?
It isn't bad though?
I'm at Irithyll and so far this is the best souls game after BB.
Nothing, Sup Forums is just being a contrarian shithole as usual.
Sorry there's too much "linearity" for you op.
If you don't know why its bad, chances are it is not and you are just a meme spouting idiot.
The game went from careful pacing and planning to an R1 spam rollfest. It doesn't play the same as previous souls games. Skills don't translate, and it's easy to excel without skill.
>memorizing the exact moment you can attack without getting hit and sitting back until then is skill but reacting instantly to whatever enemy is doing isn't skill
Holy FUCK, lads.
No one can recreate the magic of the original Dark Soul's world, stop buying this shit and let the franchise die.
most of their efforts went into Bloodborne since they realized normies will buy anything with the Souls name as proven by DaS2
>neo/v/ actually thinks that ds3 is good
it's fucking over
Yeah FP was a pretty shit addition
Darkmoon Blade. No way to make the guilty pay the price.
DS3 = Demon's Souls + Bloodborne
A Dark Souls game in name only.
>No poise
>Heavy armor sucks
>Armor variety is less than DS2 BASE game, despite copypasting a 3rd of the armors from previous games
>Magic needs 2-3 ring slots just to dish out melee level damage
>FP horribly ineffiecent with damage, ends up causing everyone to use 1 or 2 FP efficient spell like Great Heavy Soul Arrow
>Miracles awful, best and most viable one LOCKED BEHIND THE FINAL BOSS
>awful covenants
>left hand weapons no longer have full movesets
>dual wield weapons are gimmicks
>Straight Swords and Curved Sword are as fast as daggers
>Great Weapons are slower than previous games, and costs more stamina, while barely doing more damage
>1-2 Weapons ALWAYS the best in class, no redeeming qualitys for quirky weapons. In the end less weapon variety than BB
>No animation canceling
>No backstep I-frames
>rolls have too much iframs and cost too little stamina
>bloodborne enemies catered to R1 spam from ss and cs
>hexes gone and dark magic is shit
>19 bosses, a good chunk being gimmicks
>linear level design, less branching options than DeS, DS2, and even BB
>b-but the DLC will save it!
lmfao
>No poise
>Heavy armor sucks
Thank fucking god.
Who the fuck even used heavy armor in souls games?
You mean, neo/v/ think ds3 isn't second best after BB
It's fucking over
literally.
Multiplayer. Everyone being able to flask is retarded.
Poise was always broken but removing it doesn't fix it.
I already played BB. I didn't sign up to a play a shittier, half-finished, version of it
The game is literally a perfect dark souls game. The problem is you retards have spent probably thousands of hours playing the other ones and got burned out by the time this one was released. If this was the first in the series it would be praised here.
Is there a single encounter in this game that requires you to think about your strategy or take a different approach than mashing R1?
FP is fine. The dark souls 1 and 2s magic systems were causing more problems than they were fixing. The problem with 3s magic has more to do with the fact that its not all that intresting as far as spell choices go. For some reason demons souls has had the most varied spell choices so far.
It's considered the best in the series, you autistic retard.
This is objectively wrong
Even normies rate it less than DS2
It had the biggest drop in player base, while DS2 and DS1 at equivalent time had a higher player base
Holy shit that sounds amazing.
Literally everyone. Like did you even play the games online
No, of course not.
>he fell for the souls is a multiplayer game meme
>in a completely different context perceptions would be different!
A+ comment there, user.
>Tfw you will never 'soulsuck' and enemy's level down one.
Bring soulsuck back FROM. Pls
Any if you're not using a straight sword.
>rate it lower than DS2
Stopped right there
B-team shills are pathetic
THIS. I don't know why faggots keeps defending the fucking "le poise is bad and heabie armor was never used" meme but people don't play DS to roll around like a monkey. Rolling doesn't even take skill in this game because mashing it has no drawbacks. At least in BB, mistiming dodges (which actually looked better animation wise and had less i-frames) resulted in taking massive amounts of damage.
Steam charts and game reviews say otherwise
ITS
NOT
FUCKING
FUN
TO
PLAY
DeS-500+ hours
DaS-700+ hours
DaS2-350+ hours
DaS3-50 hours finished, went to NG+, lost will to play at cathedral
BB - 600+ hours
Still play DS2 and BB, never touched DS3 again
As someone who couldn't give less fucks about the multiplayer I really liked it. Not as much as 1 but sure as hell more than 2.
>it's a poise babbys mad that they can't wear heavy armor anymore so that they can just stand there like retards and swing their weapons with no consequences or skill episode
Thank God based Miyazaki got rid of these shitters
>inb4 poise babbys whine about muh """""""" R1 spam""""""""
DS1 - 300+
DS2 - 20 and dropped that garbage
DS3 - 250
Like people already said in thread, its a shittier version of bloodborne
>its a shittier version of bloodborne
Just like all Souls games.
>heavy armor and great weapons aren't viable anymore
>still trying to RP tarkus
this
it's that simple
The other souls games offered variety to both play styles and exploration. DS3 has the worst versions of both.
Same here. Single player of DS3 was extremely satisfying for me.
des: 6 hours
das: 400+
ds2: 300
bb: 400+
ds3: 250
I do that too but fortunately, atleast on PC, most pvpers are scrubs and over extend all the time into myswings so I win most my fights pretty easily. Most people seem overconfident when fighting against heavy weapons
>skills don't translate
They really don't. 3 is the only souls game I've beaten, and it wasn't even that hard. 1 royally kicks my ass.
But it's easy to react instantly in 3, just mash roll. 1's slower pace puts more emphasis on timing for both sides, the player and enemies.
All of this, plus no armor upgrading, no powerstance and only a handful of weapon arts being worth the trouble.
At least the online is a bit better now, but i still see sliding people and bosses that dont attack every so often.
It says something that the only game that Miyazaki didnt directed is the one with the most functional online component.
>30-70% roll has DWGR i-frames
>cost 16 stamina (lowest in all games)
>mashing has no drawbacks
>skill
Except they do.
Didn't die to a single boss in DS1 more than 3 times with the exception of O&S and Manu's after playing DS3 first.
It's also amazing people think DS1 takes some careful planning when you can beat 99% of the enemies by circle strafing with a shield kek
I didn't use a shield in either game, if that helps.
>1 royally kicks my ass
Put all your points in VIT at the start of the game, and you're pretty much unbeatable for the first half of the game. In fact, I don't think there's a single Souls game where VIT-stacking like a dirty casual doesn't work.
Id say that 3, because thats what the game expects you to stack your points in to survive more than 2 hits in the later half.
I havent played it since the release week so they probably balanced that already.
Iron Golem is better than all DaS3 bosses
>no armor upgrading
But that's a good thing
There should be a /das2/ containment board for DaS2 apologists. I can't stand sharing a board with those people.
I fail to see how that is a good thing.
Once DS3 starts giving your chunks of titanite, you will have so many you will not know what to do with them, even with 2 fully upgraded weapons and a shield, i had quite the handful, just sitting in my inventory.
NOT
EVERYONE
AGREES
>it's that simple
Armor upgrading is just a pointless waste of resources.
What the actual fuck? They made lightning bolts actually conduct in the water? Thats fucking awesome, need to do me a crossbow build now
It's like half the game is just a chore to play through. Farron Keep, Catacombs, Demon Ruins and Ithiryll dungeon break up the flow of good areas.
How are those areas a chore?
You mean they're tedious?
Are you saying that the previous games weren't didn't have similar areas?
>contrarian
Even the DS3 subreddit is full of "DS2 did a lot of things better" posts.
>people eat shit
yeah we know
Demon's Souls was less linear than DS3.
stop spouting your opinions as if they are facts
it's no bad, it's a very good game
it's just stale because it does nothing new, it's more of the same
Same as this guy but switch the time on DS2 and DeS.
I enjoy it thoroughly. The only thing I would say is off-putting is it is too linear.
As someone who played it as my first (and only) dark souls game, this post is 100% correct. I had a great time and have no idea what people are bitching about.
>leddit is full of shit eaters
>ds2 fanbase is loud as shit and has a horrible taste
Nothing new.
My play times are relatively similar to that (except that I haven't played BB yet) but I still think DaS3 is much better than DaS2, even though I have less play time overall.
I think I'm just getting burned out with the Souls formula, I wish they would spice things up a bit. Improving the ridiculously simple AI could go a long way for instance.
They said DaS3 was the last one I think, I'm curious if they'll manage to make something that feels fresh now while still keeping what made DaS great.
I thought it was really good and I thoroughly enjoyed it but for whatever reason I was never compelled to go back and play it again like I was with the first one and even the second one too.
This image is heavily biased against DS3 as it doesn't count the individual level design as in that aspect DS3 easily destroys the rest of the series.
Or maybe Dark Souls 3 isn't that good.
14 bosses, linear from the start, no interesting covenants, mash roll to to dodge everything, R1 spam to kill everything
They copied BB too much and without gun parries and transformation combos it's just feels like Dark Souls 1 with an infinite stamina cheat.
>Or maybe Dark Souls 3 isn't that good.
Nah it's just DS2 fanboys being a huge crybabies.
DS3's linear world design is heavily biased against DS3, the levels are good but if you're forced to do them the same way every time, they fell like a tutorial.
The early ones are especially long and mostly empty like Undead Settlement.
>its a linearity can't be good episode
DS1 fans also hate it, more than DS2 actually.
DS3 was supposed to be "the"return of Miyazaki's interconected, flowing world design, no warping" and we got the most linear game in the souls series by far.
DS1 fans never shitpost about DS3 as hard as DS2 fans. And that's understandable because they feel disconnected from the rest of the fanbase for liking a cheap fanfic bait and switch cashgrab with severely downgraded visuals.
The level design is indeed great, but the linearity hurts replayability quite a lot.
Blame the DS2 defense force as much as you want, but the truth is that DS3 was underwhelming in a lot of aspects and thats a fact.
>no interesting covenants
Did you even try being a grapist? That shit was money.
>my subjective opinion is a fact
never change Sup Forums
>DS3 was supposed to be "the"return of Miyazaki's interconected, flowing world design, no warping"
It actually wasn't. Strong influence of BB was obvious since the very first gameplay trailer.
>le purple man meme
Its a glorified red phantom with easier kill requirements.
No one even summons them outside of ganks and duels
It's not bad, but there's no point in playing it again since you'll only do the same thing.
Possible first bosses in the Dark Souls series, no tutorial.
DS1: Taurus, Capra, Gargoyles, Queelag, Moonlight Butterfly, Sif, Pinwheel.
DS2: Last Giant, Pursuer, Ornstein, Dragonrider, Rotten, Rat Vanguard, Najka. (Darklurker and X2 Dragonriders can be added to this list if you grind 1M souls)
DS3: Vordt, Dancer
Really makes you think.
bonfire warping
>DS3's linear world design is heavily biased against DS3
It actually just means DS3 decided to go for a different level progression system while compensating it with brilliant individual design. The rest is just your subjective opinion.
You have to admit that Irithyll Dungeon was just put in to fuck with people. Those jailers see you coming from 2 bonfires ago, and force you to waste all your estus.
The other ones are fine, although 1 perpetually poisoned swamp would've been enough.
My only problem with the game is not linearity, but that no one zone feels "new".
What I like of Sould is the exploration, but there are just to many castle zone that pratical have the same texture/model.
>Linearity that hurts replayability
>Useless spells and miracles
>Removal of hexes
>No poise (subjective)
>Incoherent lore filled with plot holes (Subjective as well, some care about this)
>Botchered netcode that took a while to be fixed and not perfectly, its simple on an "acceptable" level.
>Weapon variety is way less than in the previous games, with many boss weapons and weapon arts being useless
>Instant, fast estus chunging, even in ladders.
>Underpowered heavy weapons
>Way less armor variety than before, even when a handful of them returned from previous entries
>Heavy armor being worthless outside of cosmetic reasons
>Most rings being useless or having dismall returns
>Poise is off, yet there is a ring that "increases poise" and with a +1 and +2 variats to boot
This was supposed to be the series magnum opus and an apology for the mess that was DS2, not this incomplete mess.
Its almost TPP levels of dissapointment.
And i still had fun with it, same with TPP and Mankind Divided
>he thinks that Dungeon and Jailers are hard
how shit are you
its bad because it plays best on pc, and that goes against the circlejerk
>subjective opinions
>even more opinions
>and even more opinions
so what exactly is a point of your post?
Not hard, just unavoidable and annoying.
You probably breezed right through it, being the epic 12 year old that you are.
>quantifiable statements
>subjective
The worst replayability of the entire series because build variety is complete fucking garbage, invasions are an exercise of frustration and every area besides the highwall is irredeemable trash.
The entire game for me is "that area". Every 5 steps a mob zerg will fall from the sky on your head and you have to keep pressing r1 until you fall asleep as you wait for them to finish their 31 hits combo, so you can hit once or twice and repeat. It's boring as fuck.
The monsters in this game have no lives of their own, it almost seems like they're tracking you through fucking GPS and coordinating attacks through fucking facebook or something. It's shitty ambush after shitty ambush as if these supposedly dumb hollows already knew where you were coming from. Those shitstains that literally hang from the ceiling and them drop on your head with a zweihander are the worst offenders.
The developers of shit shitty cashgrab do not know the meaning of subtlety at all whatsoever. Just look at how for over half of the game 90% of the chests are mimics for no fucking reason. Back then they were things that would get you with your guard down because you got comfortable with the feeling that chests are safe and then you get fucked by that one chest that wasn't. Meanwhile in dark souls 3 you are ALREADY expecting every single chest to be a mimic because guess what, they fucking are in the vast majority of cases. How can they be so fucking retarded to not understand that what makes surprises engaging is the fact that they have to actually fucking SURPRISE you?
Playing through this heap of trash was the most unimaginative experience ever. Everytime I entered an empty room I was like "gee, I wonder what's totally not going to happen" and I was never wrong. Same thing with the chests.
What makes this game boring is that it's beyond predictable. They just took the atrocious design decision of dark souls 2, aka trying to farm cheap deaths from you, and cranked it to 11.
To see you dismiss facts as simple opinions.
