Childhood nostalgia attachment, combined with the backing of a mainstream media which tends to back their flagship games at all costs, and at very least perpetuates lies about their inventions/innovations and such. You don't hear of old games being "arcade hard", they're "Nintendo hard". Nobody has used the words "Sony magic" if they wanted to write a glowing review of TLOU or Uncharted, but you can still see "Nintendo magic" be mentioned in mainstream reviews at times.

The games I'm excited for didn't even make it onto that list. Their devs have no incentive to cater to anyone outside of their fanbase. Meanwhile, pretty sure I saw Link whip out a touch screen tablet as a map or something in the latest "gameplay" demo.
