As much as I might enjoy thread dedicating to companies and individuals I hating with an almost erotic passion, let's have a thread to those who we like.
Post the developers, musicians, directors, writers etc.who you like.
Pic related. He gets posted a lot around here, but he really understands the "game" part of "video game".
I'm in love with Yoko Shimomura. Any woman who can make music like that has my heart and balls in her hands.
Jace Watson
Kinuyo Yamashita (composer of Castlevania 1, Mega Man X and more). She's def my vidya industry waifu. Also Tommy Tallarico who's also a cool guy in my book.
>dat hoverhand
Levi Nelson
This man is incapable of failing.
Adam King
Shitting on Miyamoto and the retarded Gamepad redeemed this nigga.
Mason Cruz
...
Evan Murphy
I'm slowly compiling a list of notable composers for if I ever get round to going into game dev myself. What's her magnum opus in your opinion.
My dude.
Noah Price
I love this man, his art and his fashion sense.
Thomas Miller
How about Beyond Oasis' score?
Ryan Cooper
>Tommy Tallarico the thinking man's christopher hart, clearly
Benjamin Fisher
why are music devs the most chill people in existence?
david wise is my spirit animal.
Tyler Bell
His fondness for flower fields is a problem though.
Matthew Brooks
>e-celeb worshipping
This is not video games, my friends. Go to Youtube if you want that shit.
Juan Phillips
You wanna fight IRL?
Lucas Reyes
Not that user, but Legend of Mana is my favorite soundtrack of hers.
Dylan Sanchez
...
Brayden Gomez
Hitoshi Yamagami, creator of Panel de Pon (tetris attack) series and Dr. Mario. He's mostly a producer nowadays and he's behind the 3rd party deals. Yamagami is the executive producer of games like Sin and Punishment, Xenoblade (monolith soft used to be a 2nd party for Namco, but it was due to Yamagami that they became a nintendo sub), Wonderful 101, Bayonetta 2 among others.
Henry Hall
Can Kamiya make a game that's over 10 hours long? Fuck this autistic twat. Platinumfags are cancer.
Bentley Stewart
>Shimomura's Magnum Opus hoo boy, it'll be hard not to be unbiased. Let me just categorize it:
>As a whole game soundtrack Kingdom Hearts. Individually, the quality varies, but I really REALLY like how one song connected to another, making a theme. For example, BbS' true final boss song was made from Destati, one of many KH's main theme, Ansem's (from KH1) theme, mashed with Terra's theme, symbolizing the inner fight of Terra's mind being consumed by Xehanort. youtube.com/watch?v=R4x-hVR9fZk youtube.com/watch?v=gbeHo6c_a8o youtube.com/watch?v=Hz57xAPL1KQ youtube.com/watch?v=fBpIRi5Y4i4
Lucas Edwards
Except this is about people who make games. That's like telling Sup Forums not to talk about musicians, or Sup Forums to not talk about directors or actors.
Ian Sanders
Kojimbles
Re-meming >Kojima is a hack! He fucked up MGSV! is probably the most foolproof, 100% instant way to out yourself as (1) a contrarian shitpost king, or (2) an ACTUAL retard who has a memory span of less than a few weeks and some Sup Forums thread titles.
Adam Evans
What's he doing in Atlus nowadays? I miss his work.
James Clark
Okami?
Fuck off shitposter.
Owen Hughes
I've gotten more than ten out of VJ, Okami, and W101.
Gabriel Kelly
Akihiko Yoshida.
I hope one day he will return to design a mainline FF game. Meanwhile he's part of making Nier: Automata great.
Ian Rogers
carmack and his passion for 3d rendering is extremely interesting to listen to
Jackson Phillips
He is the scenario designer for SMT IV Apocalypse.
Michael Hill
He worked on SMT IV's setting and story. According to the artbook of the game he was heavily involved in the game, a lot more than fans thought at least.
Carter Morgan
>Meanwhile he's part of making Nier: Automata great. Finally a game where his art wasn't chibified.
Joseph Scott
I mean, art wise. Unless scenario designer also means working on which scenario on what environment where he will skektch the basic idea.
Jackson Myers
>Forgetting FFXIV Sure it has its many problems, but for many people, his art is what carries the game. Sure there's Tsubasa Masao, but he's more like discount Yoshida anyway.
Cameron Russell
It's a pain seeing what they did to his art design so it could run on 3DS.
Also can't mention Yoshida without mentioning Minaba aswell.
Jeremiah Russell
Thanks, she's added to the list.
Andrew Carter
>I mean, art wise Well, he made pic related and a Jack Frost I can't find right now.
Luke Roberts
>Daisuke Ishiwatari (石渡 太輔 Ishiwatari Daisuke?, born 14 August 1973 in Johannesburg, South Africa) is a Japanese video game developer, illustrator, musician, composer and voice actor. He is best known for creating the 2D fighting game series Guilty Gear. He designed the characters and storyline, and wrote the music. He also provides the in-game voice for the characters Sol Badguy and Order-Sol, as well as Freed Velez in Battle Fantasia.
This man is multi-talented genius. He's like a one-man army.
Carter Perez
>developer >composer >musician >artist >writer >voice actor
Is nothing that this man can't do?
Luis Price
Great minds, think alike, ey?
Julian Foster
Woah
Joseph Thomas
One of the many victims of Konami, hopefully Bloodstained will do well.
This man is a demi God. Just look at his fucking CV. From fighting games to character action games to RPGs, the man is a perfectionist. Dragon's Dogma was a madman project that innovated in numerous fronts while also bringing exciting gameplay to a genre usually known for limited combat mechanics.
Sebastian Price
>>developer >>composer >>musician >>artist >>writer >>voice actor >It's all great somehow
>spend a decade making one of the most ambitious RPGs of all time >gets called mediocre because not enough copypaste sidequests
Liam Brooks
He looks like a hobo.
Landon Ward
It's hard to remember all the talented people, and I'm forgetting a lot of them that I will be angry at myself later for forgetting but I'm going to try.
Based Directors: >Hideki Kamiya >Yoko Taro >Toshihiro Nagoshi >Hidetaka Miyazaki >Harvey Smith >Warren Spector >Chris Wilson >Hideo Kojima >Fumito Ueda >Hideaki Itsuno >Katsura Hashino
Based Artists >Yoji Shinkawa >Akihiko Yoshida >Viktor Antonov >Jonathan Jacques-Belletête >Kazuma Kaneko
Based composers: >Keiichi Okabe >Yasunori Mitsuda >Nobuo Uematsu
Nicholas Howard
Yuzo Koshiro, the king of chiptunes.
Jeremiah Johnson
Don't want to detract too much from the thread but I played Skyrim and had some hopes of enjoying it but it really felt like some faux game you see someone on TV playing. Everything in the game felt so bland and lifeless that I had trouble not just nodding off for a few seconds. The only real fun I had was after installing mods to get to kill everyone and just stealing everything I can. I have no idea were the hype came from for it.
Dominic Gray
Marketing. It was a lot of people's first experience with the genre.
Etsunobu Ebisu, guy behind Mystical Ninja/Goemon series.
Angel Ward
New sidescroller Goemon for 3DS fucking when?
Alexander Nelson
When Shimomura asked Akiman why Chun-Li's thighs had to be so thick, he had a violent outburst accusing her of being ignorant of the greatness of thighs.
And thus, SF2 launched with Chun-Li's thick sprites and the greatest legs in gaming was born.
Ayden Scott
When Konami stops making pachislots.
Ryan Williams
>his dreamed died with DDO
>tfw I'll never get a DD sequel.
Jeremiah Sanders
I just want Mystical Ninja to be release on Virtual Console
It's common that Jap devs have to quit their jobs because otherwise they risk going mental from the exhaustion. Numerous KojiPro employees were hospitalized during MGSV's production. The Gran Turismo director said that during the production of GT3, he went home three times during an entire year.
Carson Barnes
i like kamiya for his hard to master cancels i like it when my hand over the buttons dances
i like mikami and his wild west focus i'd love to penetrate inner umbrella locus
i feel for kojima getting fucked by konami but don't deny he caused a money drain tsunami
i like how itsuno put acrobatics back in fashion though he could do with overabundance of rations
i like suda's games and i play them for fun i'd feel that way even if i was 51
i like swery and his lynchian charm even though the gameplay is like shoveling shit on a farm
i like taro and his round round mask but first nier must get ported too, do i really need to ask
of those non-slanted i respect the ice pick lodge though their writing is some pretentious hodge podge
what can i say i like all kinds of design if the atmosphere is good to a game i will consign
as i leave you these words you should heed most good games fail just like troika's did
Juan Stewart
>Nobuo Uematsu
If anyone in this thread plays piano, I implore you to check out the official Final Fantasy Piano Collections.
I've been working my way through them for like a decade. If I recall correctly, they're transcribed by one of the composers for One Piece and he really does them justice. They all sound beautiful.
Him, and the crew behind audio production in mass effect 1, 2 and 3
The audio work behind that game is out of this world, in particular music and ambience.
Landon Baker
Where's Shinji Mikami. He's top 2 for me.
Hudson Ramirez
We need more madmen game creators
He didn't design the packaging. He designed the devil trigger forms in DMC3, and Vergil's DT from was reused in DMC4SE, so that's why he gets the credit in those games. The main menus say Atlus at the very bottom.
Owen Cruz
And now you know why Nocturne features Dante from the DMC franchise.
David Martinez
He's also one of the few developers that a really have fun making and enjoying video games. Nowadays people become developers just to get fame or nerd rep, Kamiya does it because he likes creating vidya.
Christopher Sullivan
To be honest I would also sleep in my office if I was also half as passionate about a game I'm making or helping in making. It's all about sharing the vision.
Adam Kelly
>CH >Thank you so much for playing! Thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you!
Aiden Thompson
...
Jack Carter
I was thinking of starting the thread with Compile Heart. They know their audience and have pandering and fanservice down to an artform. It really is great to see a company so in tune with their fanbase.
The cast for the English dub also set the standard for dubbing. There are very few weeb games where I'd opt for English over Japanese, but Melissa Fahn will always be the voice of Neptune for me.
Jordan Adams
I wish my boy made more stuff.
Mason Wilson
...
Connor Baker
I don't know many people that don't like Yoko's work.
Alexander Fisher
To the fucker who keeps bumping this thread every time it hits page 10 thanks, but I think this thread has run its course.
