To his credit, Wario plays a lot differently from Mario does even in games where the base mechanics are very similar (such as comparing Wario Land 1 with any mainstay Mario title or just comparing the two characters in SM64DS).

Wario's not nimble and athletic, he's blunt and crass in every incarnation. He doesn't fight enemies in the same way that Mario does, he doesn't do wall jumps and flips because he's more of a brawler.

He wouldn't work in a main series 2D Mario game specifically because if they did that he wouldn't be Wario, it'd just be fat Mario. Despite their core similarities, their gameplay diverges enough that Wario works best in his own game series with stages based around his mobility and enemies designed around his combat and tools.

No. They haven't made anything amazing. The DuckTales remake and Pirate's Curse were alright, but they need to really prove themselves first.

Its understandable to be honest. Having Wario cooperate with Mario doesn't make sense since he'a literally the opposite of Mario. And Wario doesn't really fit in the mainline Mario world. Wario works best when everything is batshit crazy

Co-Op Platformers are at their most fun when every character has slightly different properties and it allows you to work together in unique ways.

Thats why Tropical Freeze BTFO out of every Mario game since the SNES.

Shake It is one of the most beautiful platformers I've ever seen. Top 5 OST of all time for me. Fucking GORGEOUS hand drawn animations look better than any Mario game has EVER looked.

Everything about that game was fresh and unique and full of love. It was like a playable Saturday Morning Cartoon.

I feel you. Waluigi has potential but just isn't developed. Right now he just holds Wario back into being "le fat silly Mario" but potential is there if Nintendo ever feels like exploring it.

I don't hate him so much as I'm just not interested in him like I am with Wario. As others have already said he's just underdeveloped. A Wario Bros. game would be a perfect way to develop him a bit and then maybe from there give him his own game. It'll never happen though.

I'm always inclining towards yes even though I've been proven more than enough times that there won't be.

It sold okay. It wasn't a runaway success like some of the earlier Wario games, but it still managed to break a million in sales. I think it comes down to the fact that Wario doesn't have a dedicated developer behind it the same way Wario Ware has IS (and even IS is busy with the dozen other properties they work on so they don't get to work on WW often)
