How is the 750ti? Will I need to render games at 720p to get things playable? Are there any alternative GPUs?

add 50 bucks and get a GPU 4x stronger.

>Are there any alternative GPUs?

Yes, a lot. In fact Nivida makes a whole range, and there are even other companies too.

I've used one for playing games at 720p, OP. It does the trick fine. You may have to reduce settings here and there but it does 720p well enough. Are there better cards out there? Definitely. But for the power and price for this thing, it's pretty darn good.

just bought a gtx 950 im assuming youre looking for a GPU with no 6pin/cheap or low power consumption the 950 is the 750ti's replacement its about 130 bucks in some places and is just a better 750ti

Cheers, boys.

Rate my budget build.

ssd/10

I've heard a lot of good things about SSDs, but man, they're expensive.

Should I keep this one, or should I just spring for a 1TB HDD?

900p 30fps at medium settings with some stuff on low

Won't the new AMD 460 out perform a 750 Ti?

Isn't it only $100? I'd look into that, especially since it's a lot newer and I'm sure nvidia will stop supporting the 750 completely.

I play witcher 3 at medium/high at 1366x768 at 40 - 45 fps. Runs good and game is playable.

Its the GTX GPU in my alienware alpha though so theres that. It can play at 1080p with frame drops to 20s though so thats not good.

If you go Skylake instead of Haswell, it will cost about the same and you'll have an upgrade path to Kaby Lake or Cannonlake.

>RX 470
>$259.99

Being Canadian must be suffering.

Get a HDD and solid state, don't get the radon sapphire 480, get the nitro + 480

Tax brings it up to almost $300.

It is suffering.

Seems kinda expensive for what you're getting.

I'd do this instead.

ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/vwF2m8

SSDs are more of a luxury. That build gives you a video card with 8gb vram

It's a great last gen card. It won't play new games at max settings. I suggest buying a used 980 if you want a cheap card that will run anything.

Why only 4GB RAM though?

Just bought a Nitro rx 480 4GB. Playing on 1080p. Anyone got one of those? Opinions :^)?

Mistake

ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/2ZDW4C

I have it, it can run all games but not at max. It was the best consumer friendly card like 3 years ago so there's plenty of way better cards. Just for like 30 more dollars you can get a way better card.

dunno what monitor you have but I got solid FPS on a fully modded Skyrim in 1680 × 1050
All my other components are low-mid tier

But I'd suggest to get something better

Thanks, man. This is much better than my build.

>RX 480
>not GTX 1060
viper, kill yourself my man

>6gb vram
>knowing that card will not last very well in the future

Not really. I'm an nvidia owner myself but for budget the x60/xx60 line is a joke. For dx11 games it might edge it out but give it a year or two and then games will be a great deal less than the performance of their AMD alternatives. Just look at the 760/960 vs their amd counterparts. It also has 6gb vram. If nvidia didn't skimp so much on it I wouldn't be as opposed.

Is this worth $335? Logical Increments put this as the only graphics card for the excellent tier and as $280 but it's sold out in Newegg. I'm building my first PC and don't know anything.

If you can upgrade in 1-2 years it doesn't matter. If you're one of those guys who want a good 4 years out of a card without running below 20 fps then you're gonna want to go with the rx 480.

>MemeSI

It's currently the best mid-range card.
Try to get your hands on the 6gb version and don't listen to the AMD fag shills.

This
I would have bought a 1060 instead of the 480 if it wasn't for Nvidia dropping support in a few years

>trying to "future proof" GPUs

Good one.

>4 years
A RX 480 won't even last 4 months.
The RX 480 is low performance card while the GTX 1060 is the better investment.

So is it bad because it's too expensive or the card itself is bad?

>implying AMD doesn't blow Nvidia out of the water at the mid-range price point
When will the nvidia meme end, they're only good at high end, it's ati processors you need to avoid

I think he doesn't like MSI. Simple as that.
I used to build my first PC waayyyy back then, and after burning through a motherboard from them, I send it back to get it replaced. It was retail, but I figured I could try, even if it was my fault.
It came back first with a message that said "we couldn't find any problem with the board" or something along those lines. Even though it had a large burn mark on the back and didn't work AT ALL.
Send it back again, and got a replacement. Weird stuff.

Based on what? That is such obvious shilling, I really dont know what to say

I don't know who to trust. All I know is Logical Increments put it their as the only excellent-tier card. So it must be good

Is there a better card at around the same price?

I read there were a lot of overheating/power problems with the 480 when it launched, are those fixed now?

Yes

RX 480 is an excellent 1080p card that costs 200 bucks. If your looking to run 720p itll last you a long time. The 1060 is nvidias equivalent and its mostly on par the the rx480. The 1060 is generally 2-5 fps above the 480 at 1080p but beats it in a few benchmarks. Nvidia has better support overall in general. ATI generally runs hotter and noisier but made some pretty big improvements this generation but still is hottert/noisier than NVIDIA in general.

RX480 will easily last you 3+ years at 720p with max settings which is a pretty good deal for 200 bucks. 1060 is comparable to 10% better but also costs about 80 bucks more but will have better driver support.

I wouldnt buy a 750ti at this point. Its just really old tech. If youre gonna go that route I would spring for a 960 at the very least.

...

?

I'd link you the archive, but foolz got deleted.

I want to run 1080p, not 720p.

Again I have to ask, are you only saying 480 is better just because it's cheaper? I don't really care about the price as much as the quality of the card itself. So you're saying 480 will last more than the GTX 1060?

Fireden is alive and kicking.

I'm going to amend my position because i just checked prices. 1060 is currently 199 for the 3gb while the 480 is 250+ for the 4gb. I WOULD NOT pay more for the 480 over the 1060. The extra GB in vram is nice but if youre planning on 720p it wont really matter. Go with the 1060 at these current prices.

No the 1060 is technically faster in more games than the 480. The 480 is supposed to be cheaper but current demand has skyrocketed the price by an extra 20-30%. If you bought the 480 in todays market you'd be crazy. You'd be paying about 20% more for about 10% worse performance.

1060 3gb is the way to go. At 720p, that card will last you many many years. The 750ti is about 140 and really spending an extra 60 for the 1060 is worth it. It is 2-3 times more powerful. The 960 is $180 or so and cant even begin to compete with the 1060.

>1366x768

What's a good card to upgrade to from a 660ti?

how much you looking to spend?

Nope, AMD's drivers will cripple it's future performance.

Maybe up to $250 at the moment.

What i was saying is that the 1060 is a good card, the company is not.
But memes aside, both rx480 and 1060 are good choices and the difference is probably very minimal.

amazon.com/MSI-GAMING-GeForce-GTX-1060/dp/B01IEKYD5U

I hope this lasts for half a decade.

I got the first party one on the nvidia website for 300 cuz it was sold out on newegg, if that's still available it's your best bet

>amazon.com/MSI-GAMING-GeForce-GTX-1060/dp/B01IEKYD5U

Are you linking a 1060 6gb for 350 bucks? Dont do that. Thats a terrible deal.

>AMD
>Good drivers
Pick one.

>Are there any alternative GPUs?

Nope, the 750ti is the only one. Sorry, OP, there just aren't any others.

1060 6GB for 1080p. Its right at 250 right now and is a fantastic 1080p card. It'll run everything on high/max at 60 fps. Maybe a few things like shadows dialed down. It sits right above the 970 in terms of power if that means anything to you.

It's good budget card, but the GTX 950 is way better chocie this day and age. It even has similar low-power versions, that run on mere PCI-port's power.

>getting a gpu that is likely to last longer = future proof
?

>buying AMD
>ever

does fireden keep archives from nearly a year ago?

>just above 970

user that thing is on par with the 980 and even beats it in some games

what did he mean by this?

I know it has 2015 posts but I dunno how far they go.

what I'm using like radeon 5870 and most of the stuff runs just fine on 1200p

Logical Increments lists it as their excellent card and I don't really see it anywhere else for a lower price. I don't want to buy it used either.

So it's bad because it's expensive? Or is it bad because it's a bad product?

Despite staggeringly powerful specs the 5870 it is worthless. I can't run my pc on hopes and dreams. While nvidia is flooding the market with 285's and i can buy a ton of 295's, the best card both spec wise and price wise is nowhere to be seen. It seems the only thing amd and ati can sell is hype!!!

I'm going to do everyone a favor and link the primo card to get for budget conscious folks.

amazon.com/ZOTAC-GeForce-Compact-Graphics-ZT-P10610A-10L/dp/B01KKJAJM4?psc=1&SubscriptionId=AKIAI62SSPLIHX7AR6PA&tag=gpuboss-20&linkCode=xm2&camp=2025&creative=165953&creativeASIN=B01KKJAJM4

OP the 3GB version of that is 200 bucks and will last you 5+ years for 720p at max settings. For evryonr else this card is perfect for 1080p60 at high/max settings. This thing is the price/performance king and this mini one runs cool and silent and has an excellent form factor with literally no drawbacks.

750ti is a shitty meme that needs to die already
It was a temporary solution in 2013, but not in 2000 fucking 16. If you want a budget card - spend 200-250. Alternatively go fuck yourself with a rake. Do not buy anything below this pricetag, unless it's something used and was priced above $300.

i got an 8gb sapphire for $240 that came in a month ago
previously had a gt630 so this is one hell of an upgrade

i'm playing gta V at 900p 60 fps with my 750ti. some occasionnal stutter but most of the time it keeps the 60fps. some newer games (obduction) lag like hell though, i'd advise something like a GTX950 if you have enough money

OP refer to the link in That is my official recomendation. Buy the 3GB version and max out every game at 720p for the forseeable future worryfree.

Enjoy your shitty drivers, poorfag.

I don't know why but I have a feeling you're an extremely angry

doesn't look like they have it, sorry bud.
basically the thread was about the evga 750ti being the most kawaii video card on the market.

I wouldn't be surprised if some nerd on iFunny screenshot it so I'll Google it later. Sounds familiar though. Many thanks, user.

>buying gpus when people throw give those out for free

have fun buying tons of 295's what ever those are.

Nigger, quit recommending 720p, that's for niggers.

>720p
Wow it's like I'm really in the stone age

RX460 destroys the 750ti

True story:
>See the 750ti
>Think it would be cool to see what the smallest PC I can build is
>build a micro-ITX machine
>Discover that even mini/micro ITX cases are big enough to accommodate full-size graphics cards these days
>Don't get a 750ti, instead just spend 50 bucks more and get a 970
>mfw

My 750ti was $80, where is there a 970 for $130? Or were you looking at over priced 750ti?

>not a 380 for $130
even on a micro machine id put either AiO or cpu cooler on the gpu, dont want a mini heater

Huge exaggeration. I hope you didn't upgrade from a 750ti to a 460

You'll get about the same performance as a ps4 with a 750ti

>Or were you looking at over priced 750ti?

Upon retrospect, probably. This was a year or so back now.

You know what I've learned over the years, it all depends on your internet speed most of the time and what you would do with it. If it's fast enough to load for example 720p videos on the go, you have no need for a high HDD and should get a SSD instead. But if your internet is slow as fuck and you still want to see 720p videos you're better off downloading them into your HDD for later.

I always buy low end, so I don't have to change it out for 2 years. Play through all older titles.

Future proof? Look at how the 760 is doing these days. Anyone who buys a nvidia card expecting it to last is a retard.

basically what said

For right now, getting a 1060 gives you great performance per dollar (on top of being very energy efficient) and is way easier to find in the current market compared to a rx 480, but the lackluster support for DX12 and Vulkan on top of Nvidia's habits means it's definitely not a future-proof card.

>980 & 980 SLI above 480 despite worse stats

This.

The GPU market is so tight that you'll always get fucked one way or another, whether it's through diminishing returns or being forced to buy low end frequently.

From what it seems I seem to have the same GPU. It just seems to have problems. When I boot up, I see lots of red dots on the UEFI screen, but this indicates it won't boot up corretly unless I uninstall drivers (when I do it's still NVIDIA Microsoft Basic Display Adaptor, but it doesn't crash). This has been happening since I got this computer. Any tips without me spending any money?

>Any tips without me spending any money?
Stop using a computer till you can build a decent one.

Does it matter at all if you don't play much to buy a gpu with double fan instead of just one?

No, not really. Dual fans help for overclocking, that's about it.
