wait, what was the point of infiltrating that giant base just to have a cutscene drive you all the way back out?
To meet SKILL Face. Kaz tells you to go along with it.
The game was fantastic and complete. Stop fucking crying.

NINE YEARS AGO
THEY PLAYED US LIKE A DAMN FIDDLE
Reminder
CIPHER SENT US TO HELL
WE'LL MAKE THEM PAY, BOSS.
You don't even play as the real Boss
This is what makes me mad the most.
This is what was going through Kojima´s mind for TPP:
"A yis, fans love Big Boss, so I give them more enjoyment by making them play as Huey. No wait, gomen, as Mr. Medic, for TPP.
And he no talk a lot. So fans love Big Bossu many much, but they will enjoy silent protagonist.
pries enjoy"
Fucking Kojima.
That's one of my favorite bits
Venom is husbando
>Boss, you're awake!
>Let's go kill Skull Face
>Well that's done, but I feel like it isn't over, Boss
Thats the end of Chapter 1 and MGS V overall.
Is kinda hard to explain but after that is done, Chapter 2 is just an epilogue.
Chapter 2 is just trying to tie the loose ends and fucks up badly.
>tfw going back and watching the elegia trailer
STANDING
One question, what makes the elegia trailer so great for so many people?
I remember the first time i watched the trailer and i liked it, but never got why people love it
Those people probably kept watching the trailer and loved it.
It was the same for me with the Nuclear trailer.
When I first watched it, I was completely offended, because all my favourite characters were beat up and doing mad shit.
Then I loved it and was not fazed by the nature of the vid anymore.
Hype af
>tfw that Miller voice acting
>tfw you're listeng full version of elegia and hear the comrades you've lost
Because it wasn't, reminder this game is set in the middle of the franchise.
Boss, you're awake!
>Let's go kill Skull Face
>Well that's done, but I feel like it isn't over, Boss
>Game ends
>now go play metal gear, mg2, mgs, mgs2, then mgs4
>the end
>Have a female sniper with super powers
>Have a pet wol- I mean dog, I mean wolf-dog
>Be operating in the middle-east
>Major story point involving young Hal
>Encounter a few members of Fox Hound as youths
>No young Sniper Wolf
>>Encounter a few members of Fox Hound as youths
Who the fuck do we see that becomes Foxhound members besides Psycho Mantis (who is just a plot device and nothing more)
What did he mean by this?
Ocelot, Liquid
Though who the fuck knows what age Ocelot is supposed to be
Ocelot was born on D-Day, so he is 40 in TPP. He just looks old with that gray hair.
Words that kill
choice of music was great, Skull Face had some lines in it which hyped him up even more because of his mysterious nature from GZ.
Also a lot of other voice lines that seemed to emphasize how serious and intense the game is going to be.
But then it turned out that all of Skull Face's dialogue was literally from the jeep ride.
I don't know but the one I loved was the E3 2013 trailer. The really long one. It was perfect. We knew so little about the game back then. It spawned so many theories. It makes both miller and big boss look like they're ready to tear apart the entire world for revenge, as if Kojima is setting up a grand scale non-stop story of a desperate miller/bb letting go of every ounce of morals, or duty, or anything they once were, to get revenge at all costs even if it means sacrificing everyone else.
youtube.com
>Men Become Demons
>Kojima makes us think Big Boss has fallen so far he that finds a bunch of caged children only to slaughter them either out of revenge or complete lack of empathy
>WORDS THAT KILL
The real game as was slowly made apparent over time and blown wide open when the game released:
>"Big Boss" being venom snake was 1/100th as exciting or impactful to the "story" as people speculated after E3 2013 trailer
>Venom snake is a fucking mime
>Miller, the most cold hearted and spiteful man alive, suddenly has a heart, especially when it comes to some literally who kids
>Every character is exactly 1/10th as interesting as the trailers made them out to be
>Every single 'twist' and shock was extremely tame and boring
>The whole game was a massive disappointment, complete or not
>Exactly 0 (ZERO) feels the whole game
That speech by Kaz at the 1 minute mark sold the game for me. What a fucking scam. Fuck you Kojima.
Forgot to mention the 'Les Enfants Terribles' bit at the end which pretty much confirmed that Solid was going to be in the game when you see another kid identical to Liquid sitting next to him.
and then we find out that wasn't solid
>you feel it too don't you?
goosebumps everytime fampai
This post basically sums up exactly my thoughts about the trailers/game.
Kojima scammed us good. Won't be buying Death Stranding.
>>Exactly 0 (ZERO) feels the whole game
I agree with most of your points there but the second outbreak along with the funeral was very touching.
>Falling for the illusion that is marketing hype
Good goys. Very good goys.
>that jew nose
>What is cut content
Literally every game you have ever played has missing parts, MGSV just happened to show you some of it as an extra on the special edition.
>Skull Face
>A Ghost Without A Past
God damn that scene. I thought for the longest time that Skull Face would actually land on Mother Base with his soldiers for an encounter with BB in that scene, but it was actually just part of the only significant interaction he has with the boss in the entire game.
Everything about that fucking trailer was WAY more hype than the final result.
>Those who "Don't Exist"
WHO THE FUCK ARE THOSE WHO DON'T EXIST? WHY DON'T THEY EXIST? Is this going to be some huge plot point? Some secret conspiracy? Maybe some sleeper agents who betray big boss at some point and suddenly turn into these grotesque...things? Why do they move like that? What are they?
Oh, they're just a boring underutilized bullet sponge that appears 2 or 3 times in the game
This is a bit off topic but is Metal Gear Rising canon?
You were literally blinded by your own rage, your desire for revenge. Did you even listen to a single line of dialogue or did you actually miss the thousand times where the game implies "Revenge fucking gets you nothing and only leaves you empty"
you forget the part where the story is literally incomplete without mission 51.
Since it's cut content nothing in the canon says what happened when Liquid fled with a huge nuclear machine of mass destruction.
Even with mission 51 they never explain what happened to Sahelanthropus since they said they wanted to keep it as a memento.
Learn to at least read between the lines before posting this stuff, "Those who don't exist" in a game called "The Phantom Pain" about a man called a Phantom, where his accomplishments during the story are erased from history and as far as the world knows he -guess what- doesn't exist.
I'm fine with people being butthurt over MGSV but at least come up with something good instead of this shit.
>Quiet Torture scene
Oh shit this game is going to have some serious shit
>Child soldiers
Wow, Konami doesn't give a fuck. They're going to let you kill children on the opposite side. They're going all out rated A with zero fucks about what anyone says
>That ruthless prisoner execution from GZ
>Not for Justice, Not for Honor, Not for Power, Not for the Future, Not for Love, Not for Peace, Only for Revenge
This trailer did everything right (except maybe the gameplay section being a little too long, but they saved it with the music). Too bad it was all a lie.
Liquid fucked off with the most advanced Metal Gear in existence at the end of MGS2 and no one gave a shit. It wasn't even followed up on in 4 until he randomly appeared with Ray.
Who gives a shit? If you've been paying attention you would've wanted Sahelanthropus removed from Outer he heaven ASAP.
what could've been
they need to make a spin-off where you play as Kaz
>Snake, did I tell you about the random medic who I tricked into thinking he was me, then made him take revenge on some skeleton man who destroyed my base, and then made him have the outer heaven uprising pretending to me, who you killed? He was a good snake.
>modders will never be able to fix the game because of Denuvo
Imagine if there was a script extender.... The fox engine seems ripe for modding
So? That was supposed to be the end result. In the end BB and Miller get nothing.
That is no fucking excuse for why the ride itself has to be utterly fucking empty. The ride was supposed to be BB and Miller slowly losing everything they ever valued and everything they have, and be left with nothing in the end. It's not a fucking high school novel-tier observation of "oh revenge leaves you empty, so naturally the game itself is empty and lacking content." If this was Kojima's intention then he's a fucking hack.
wasn't it Zero who came up with most of the plan concerning Venom, and Big boss just rolled with it?
He's describing his thoughts during the trailer's original release. It's easy for you to talk shit in hindsight after having completed the game you fucking dipshit.
>It wasn't even followed up on in 4 until he randomly appeared with Ray.
So you mean, it was followed up on in the chronological sequel?
Plenty of people would've given a shit if the metal gear never showed up again, but it did.
So while the Metal Gear Ray was followed up on from 2>4, Sahelanthropus wasn't.
Get a better argument.
Then what's the point of one of the final quotes of the game being about keeping the Metal Gear as a memento?
I'm Big Boss, and you are too. ...No, he's the two of us together.
I am you, and you are me. carry that with you, wherever you go.Thank you... my friend. From here on out, you’re Big Boss.
This. Anyone who claims the game was good because of a stupid reason like that is trying way too hard to justify the game having practically no story relative to the other MGS games. Even Monster Hunter: MGS Edition had a better and much more complete story with comic book cutscenes.
Denuvo is not responsible for the lack of MGSV mods.
>and then we find out that wasn't solid
IT WAS JUST A PRANK BRO
it's just a coincidence that no denuvo games have any mods besides reskins
>The game was fantastic
No... it wasn't. It was a massive disappointment.
Yet Zero and Big Boss were supposed to hate each other and be trying to kill each other. Instead Zero saves Big Boss from the helicopter crash and creates a fake Big Boss to take the heat off him. Let's not even get started on the fact that Phantom Pain is now saying Zero was in his coma before the events of Metal Gear 1. Fuck Kojima.
but MGSV has mods
yeah it makes the last scene of MGS 4 really weird
"The ride was supposed to be BB and Miller slowly losing everything they ever valued and everything they have and be left with nothing in the end."
>Chapter 1 is Snake and Kaz rebuilding their army, they use it to achieve their revenge
>They realise that they aren't fulfilled by this and are left feeling depressed and empty
>Chapter 2 is about Snake and Kaz losing their army to paranoia and their pain, Snake executes many of them personally, Huey leaves, Quiet leaves, Eli leaves, Ocelot was never really with them truly, Snake loses his identity and everything he had, Kaz leaves.
"The ride was supposed to be BB and Miller slowly losing everything they ever valued and everything they have, and be left with nothing in the end"
Jesus Christ.
that was flat out misdirection on Kojimbles part, no other way around it.
Warhammer has mods.
you could start modding the spaghetti code mission lua right now if you wanted. denuvo isn't going to stop you.
reskins
entire factions added alongside swapping what factions certain legendary lords start in.
More than just reskins.
can you even run those mods without konami banning you from the servers?
> Alright, I'll tell you the location of metal gear and skullface!
> They're at the big giant military base you saw them at last time!
thanks huey that was really worth all the torture
show dont tell
I'm unsure, but I know that some consider the Infinite Heaven mod to be really good and fixes a bunch of shit.
Why did Skull Face feel the need to blow up mother base again?
Yes it is. Do you know how game modding works? If the developer doesn't provide modding tools like the Creation Kit, or at least open modding support like in games such as DOOM 3 / etc, the best (if ANYTHING) anyone can hope for is a texture replacer or some shit.
Try modding Dark Souls without DSFix. Oh wait, you can't. DSFix would never have been possible with Denuvo. Ironically DSFix clearly helped tremendously with the massive success of Dark Souls (especially consistent sales over time), a series which Bandai has stated to have more sales on PC than any other platform.
If the Dark Souls on PC experiment had not been salvaged with DSFix, and it remained a complete turd of a port without consistently high sales, it's likely From would not have continued to bring the rest of its games on PC (It was as I said, a completely experimental move and even From admitted they had no clue what they were doing). If Dark Souls had Denuvo, it wouldn't be nearly as successful on PC.
The majority of people who claim MGSV has no story literally lack the mental capacity to see any subtext or look at anything beyond its surface, so I guess that's why they love the ridiculously badly written exposition fests that the old games are.
>If the developer doesn't provide modding tools like the Creation Kit
Even though that's wrong, what does that have to do with Denuvo?
Guess I'm the minority when I say that MGSV is a great game even tho episode 51 was cut and the whole Eli taking the little nigglets and Sally was never resolved.
also Venom becoming the decoy was a good twist.
You will never be able to understand him Sup Forums, git gud, accept that.
>ITT: People who have no fucking clue how modding works and think the light mods that exist which don't need to "tamper" with game files are even remotely representative of what could be
Reminder that these threads only serve to make us manually feel the phantom pain. Sound a little familiar? Remember when Kojima said he would do something that could only be done in video games? MGSV was supposed to be the rebuttal to MGS4. If MGS was going to go out then it was going to go out with a bang, the ending everyone really wanted for the series. We were supposed to get our revenge for the lukewarm finale that was 4, and we were willing to wait for it. Our sweet, sweet revenge. Remember when the E3 2013 [RED BAND] trailer dropped and everyone's jaws hit the floor? It was all there and the stage was set. This was it. This is what we waited for. 9 long years. But as we later found out, revenge, although sweet, leaves a bitter taste in your mouth. Revenge left us scarred and empty. We waited for a game that never came. Instead we only received a phantom pain.
He says if there are no modding tools the only way to mod a game is some sort of messy hack, like injecting files into the game.
That shit is not possible with Denuvo. Can't tamper. That's how people pirate these days. DLL injection.
dll injection
take a look at infinite heaven, namely infhook.lua and say that's a light mod that isn't tampering with the game files.
those aren't cosmetic changes, that's one man on his own taking.
denuvo is protecting the exe. MGSV stores all of it's UI code, mission data, item data, bullet data, soldier spawns, vehicle spawns etc in plain lua inside the game files. it can and has been modded, extensively.
Story was pretty stupid at time (jeep ride, parasites) but it was objectively the best written and presented in the series, it's the only one that has writing that doesn't resemble anime shit and most dialogue sounds convincing (main characters actually communicate in a believable way) rather than cringey fan service and only using dialogue for blatant exposition. The twist is subjective and up to interpretation so it will likely be discussed for years.
That's a good point, but he's still right about the fact that MOST games can't be modded to any degree while Denuvo is present.
That being said, lua scripts are a pretty nasty workaround. Lua scripting is the kind of shit people do with things lime macro software. I would definitely prefer a much more robust and stable modding platform.
well a large chunk game is written in lua so it's not really a workaround so much as directly editing the game files.
but anyway, he said MGSV can't be modded because of denuvo, when the fact is MGSV can be modded but people don't have the inclination to sift through thousands of lines of engrish lua to change things in a mediocre third person shooter.
>He was a good snake
i genuinely feel bad for people who cant understand the story of MGSV
its not even complicated and yet you retards keep spouting dumb memes like unfinished game or cut content
you know i dont even like the game that much because of the change of tone between ground zeroes and PP especially for some characters (skullface is a joke in V but looked very threatening in GZ)
but the story is simple and complete the game have a real message like all the mgs and after listening the final tapes i felt like the saga was over and complete
the only thing im wondering now is how big boss became friend with kaz after this game because in MG1 they work together
i like how konamis twitter was like
the story is complete in order for you to see what happens next play metal gear msx
but solid snake never encountered Sahelanthropus just rex
kaz isn't even in MG1.
At least the gameplay was very fucking fun.
But it will go down as one of the biggest disappointments of all time for me. Ground Zeroes and those trailers were too much hype to live up to.
I guess Kaz was fine with working under Big Boss as long as he could train Solid to be better, hoping to beat BB in the future, that's what he said in the ending conversation of V.
>Burning with revenge
>literally the only reason why Volgin is burning and alive is because he wants revenge
TPP is a fucking joke, there's zero depth in the story, no clever use of the characters. Twist was okay, but it shouldn't be at the end of the last game in the series. It should be like 30% in.
