I'll let you on a secret. Nobody is gonna show the free account players any kind of compassion and unless you have any knowledge of EVE from your own searching on the net you are gonna get dismantled all the time. The best you can expect is to become a meatshield in PH and flashing a redlight on ship in an "electronic warfare" wing.

Except all of that is plenty to learn the game.

I think EVE is designed in a way that makes it incredible, but also unsustainable in the long run (because of the advantages old players have over new ones).

The best solution would probably be to make an entirely new server, so everyone could start the game on an even footing.

You can actually start the game with decent enough combat skills to participate in fleet battles. Goonswarm used masses of trial accounts to bully itself to the top for a while.

Astro has been baby mode for years now, and Chance pushing for a better UI only made this easier. Revenue plummeted.
