I've bought every DQ game released in the west. And already pre ordered this one months ago.
So yes.
Already got it pre-ordered.
I want more DQ, and I put my money where my mouth is.
Already pre-ordered
It's a shame about the downgraded music in the western version, guess they really wanna save a few shekels.
Already got it ordered, one of my favorite DQ games.
Still confused to why Kiefer comes back in the 3DS version
I dunno, seems like the last place I want to play a long jrpg is on my 240p 3ds
I mean I like dqix so why not
Which one's the best, IV, V or VI remake on DS?
These guys get it.
Then don't?
I'm interested. I'm still salty they haven't localized the Dragon Warrior Monsters 3DS remakes but I have always been curious about this game and will likely get it if I find the time to invest
IV for characters
V for story
VI for combat
Go back to r eddit?
Haven't played one of these games before but it looks super generic just from the title. If I wasn't playing RPGs for 5+ years I would be interested but at the moment no.
the changed music thing sucks, but im going to have to wait to see.
there's a chance the translation sucks hard, and they might find something to edit/censor.
we're also at the point that there's a small chance they could remove content, like party chat or endings or something.
but yeah, waiting until the game is out and fully tested.
The only other Dragon Quest game I've played was 9. I enjoyed it, but did not love it. Will I enjoy this one?
I haven't played any of them, it's a difficult choice
Then don't play it?
dq5 on ds is still a great game even though ps2 version looks/sounds better.
dq6 ds is best version of the game but average overall.
dq4 ds should be avoided.
If you didnt like the gameplay and the monsters you wont like it, but this game has an actual party.
Like, you dont make the characters so there's more of a story going on and characters actually interact.
9 was lacking in a lot of ways but not in game-play
try any DQ game
7 3DS will remind you a lot of 9 in terms of visuals and episodic adventures but this time around you'll have actual party members and not dress up dolls.
Huh, I guess I'll start with V then
How did you come up with that conclusion? How did you muster up enough brain power to type all that without thinking "Man this guy must not know to not play something that doesn't seem interesting, I better let him know!"?
While SquareEnix is full of lies and you can never trust anything they say, the localization producer of DQ has said that if DQBuilders and the remakes sell well, it will lead to more DQ games being released.
The localization director is also at PAX West according to the Nintendo 3DS announcement yesterday. But I can't find him anywhere on the schedule. If someone does run into him as PAX, I implore you to voice your desire for all the games to be released. Especially Dragon Quest X and the overlooked 3DS games. Tell him we want them all, not just mainline games.
They're all good. DQV is the most popular one though.
>with Kiefer
that's cruel, user
DQ9 was great, but it didn't have memorable party members. The series shines best when characters are well written.
7 is amazing for the amount of content, characterization, and setting. Even if you think it'll be just "okay" , you can snag a 3DS copy for $30 and have a great time.
Then don't play it?
First day pirate.
They probably spent more money at the end of the day, because the music is new and is shared with the music for the mobile port of VII. It's just not the orchestrated music, which is a shame, but Japan bitched about it anyway, in addition to it only being half the songs.
I'll be playing it, but I won't be buying it or any 3DS game, save for maybe Sun/Moon, in the future.
Dragon Quest IX is not the best game to start with, since it pretty much focuses on multiplayer and nostalgia. And since multiplayer was almost non existent for people outside Japan and you haven't played the previous DQ games, you missed out on both.
I played DQ 9 when it released and I didn't stop playing off and on for about a year.
got like 600 hours invested.
will I enjoy DQ 7?
I'm new to DQ. Just started playing V on DS and I want to finish it before this comes out. Would it be a mistake to play this next?
>if I liked [x] DQ game will I like [y] DQ game?
Yes.
Sounds fun, I'll pirate it.
Preordered ages ago. Really looking forward to it, hope the city I live in gets me streetpasses.
Is it still 80 hours, though? Heard content was cut and the game streamlined in the remake.
>will buy Pokemon, a game that is guaranteed to sell and get sequels and the continue in the west
>won't buy the game that is a miracle to even come to the west and it's sales really depend on if we're to get more DQ games in the future
You're like those people who go "Well, I really want to play The Wonderful 101, but I'm gonna buy GTAV instead"
Yes.
Just remember to buy it if you like it, it means you'll get more DQ games to enjoy
When's it out?
Nothing was cut, but they added a shard tracker to reduce the time a little.
Only reason I'm thinking of buying Pokemon is so I can transfer my Pokemon to the new games on the NX. I don't know if I'll be able to do that with a hacked copy.
No I realy don't feel like buying a 3DS game
Pre-ordered it and also got Rocket Slime from VGP today. Now all I will be missing is the Monster games, I will be scouring Ebay for those.
I'm getting it. Only have time to play on weekends so this will last a long time for me.
after that many hours in any game, maybe you should try any of the other games in that franchise
September 20th I think? I know it and SMT4:A come out around the same time.
don'y let a company hold a series random like that. if they do a bad job localizing a game, don't reward them.
also what the hell is this chair about?
aight
The original PS1 game was more like 120-200 hours. 80 hours for the 3DS will be shorter.
it will be my first dragon quest game
But you still feel like playing one?
that's a good point but what about Pokémon Bank?
Yes?
Well, I have Pokemon Bank on my legit 3DS, but not my hacked one, and I don't have a NNID on my hacked 3DS.
No real content was cut, everything cut was filler and Horii even admitted that he just shoved a bunch of it in VII just because of CD technology. That's why you can actually play the game now in less than 3 hours.
VII is SO FUCKING LONG. I'm fairly certain it's one of the longest RPGs, if not the longest one.
Soapland/oil massage stuff. I frequent the /jp/ thread, so just ask there if you can, I'd rather not anyone get banned for offtopic.
the only thing that's actually shortened is the intro.
The rest is likely due to faster battle speeds.
Damn, close to 40 hours of cut/streamlined content, then? I might skip it, DQ IV DS and IX already burned me. I might pick up the original for the PS1.
I was waiting for 8 but they delayed it until next year so I'll probably get it in a month or so in order to get my fill until it's out. I've only ever played 1,2,3, part of 9 and I'm currently playing through 8. About 20 hours in.
You probably won't finish it by the 15th. But DQ games can be played interchangeably, the formula hasn't changed much over the years but everyone one of them has something unique to them.
Read The game has just been sped up, that's all.
bro they cut the first dungeon
dq7 3ds is going to be much shorter
iv'e been waiting for this for a long time so no i won't buy it.
i'll buy it three times
>dungeon
You were just pushing blocks and running around the fishing town. For 4-5 hours.
No one's got time for that shit anymore. Not even devs.
why does Nintendo keep doing this
It's a tutorial dungeon that isn't important. If Horii thought it was that damn important, he would have kept it. It's gone, so obviously THE WORD OF GOD FOR DRAGON QUEST DOESN'T THINK IT'S NEEDED.
>Atlus
>Square Enix
Nintendo has nothing to do with their release dates being pushed.
>Horii
The same guy that wabts to remove NTRHorse? For shame.
Re-read your posts. You guys are already defending hours of cut content because fanboisim.
He doesn't want to remove the horse from DQV, just wishes the doujins didn't exist.
>Damn, close to 40 hours of cut/streamlined content, then?
Its more that:
-You have an object that helps you find shards faster
-Movement is faster
-Class system has been overhauled reducing (or possibly eliminating) the need to grind
Only thing that's really been streamlined according to Yuji Horii is that some of the dialogue has been reduced. Which actually might be a good thing since some areas in the PS1 game had hours of dialogue.
September 16th for America. No idea about Europe.
If he wanted to remove the horse, he would have done it over two remakes and two ports. But he didn't.
damn straight son
been waiting for this for like 4 or 5 years, whenever it was first announced
There's always one of you here to shit up these threads
It's not about fanboyism.
It's about pacing. I've seen one too many people dropping DQ7 because the beginning was too dull.
You're just joking but I don't really care.
Better than Koichi "There's no such thing as Comfort Women and Nanking was a lie!" Sugiyama. I like how I brought that up, and one of those assholes at US Gamer had a shitfit.
Nintendo is publishing DQVII, so it's their decision on when it gets released, but it also comes out on the 16th. Not the 20th.
Sell this game to me Sup Forums, I've never really played a DQ game besides Heroes.
source?
Already pre-ordered. I'm currently playing through DQ8 and loving every second of it. Also currently own the DS remakes of 4, 5, 6 and 9.
Did Amazon ever fix their store page for it? I don't wanna preorder until then. I know it's kinda silly but I'd rather be on the safe side.
I've heard it is too long
lots of people try to play the ps1 version but never finished it
do you like RPGs to began with?
I grew up loving Final Fantasy, then when the DS remakes of Dragon Quest 4 and 5 came out I became a total DQ convert
DQ is the better series
Did you play the first 5 final fantasy?
Should have been made for the vita, it somehow looks worse on the 3DS than it did on the PS1
I recall Dragon's Den saying they did a while ago. Worth a double check.
>-You have an object that helps you find shards faster
>-Movement is faster
>-Class system has been overhauled reducing (or possibly eliminating) the need to grind
These are all positive points. I loved DQ7 as the as the next guy, but it's 120+ hours dragged on.
It is long. Hell it's STILL long. Just not as much as the PS1 version.
Then don't play it?
Yeah looks like they did. Time to preorder.
>DQ is the better series
Why? I've never played a DQ game and I'd like to know your reasons.
I've only ever played 9, but I loved it and beat it multiple times. Oh yeah and the joker series.
Will I like 7?
Have you actually played the PSone game? It is one of THE UGLIEST games on the system and the year it came out.
I only played IV and V. IV was entertaining but nothing memorable beyond the fact that Alena was hot as fuck, V was amazing but apparently it is the black sheep of the series or something since it actually has a stor and characters. If I stick with the series should I go with VI or VII next?
Fuck yes, was going to play the ps1 version but this is even better. DQ is fucking great.
I'll buy it, but won't play until somebody patches in the orchestral score
Never played 7. Looking forward to downloading it though.
Wasn't the PS1 game also a case of forever being delayed?
For one thing, it doesn't reinvent the wheel every single time a new game comes out.
