Just got this from a mate, what am I in for?

Just got this from a mate, what am I in for?

Why don't you try playing it?

3rd best JRPG of the console, 2nd being Tales of Symphonia and 1st being Baten Kaitos

opposite order.

I'm afraid your shit taste is terminal user

This.

You just got a game. Which means money isn't a factor of stopping you from playing game.
So fucking play it. Be surprised.
You want me summarize the entire fucking plot for you? Then fucking why play it?

FUCKING PLAY THE FUCKING GAME

Also next-gen/steam port when? Sega ported a shitload of their dreamcast games, this could probably sell well too.

The best game ever.

Terrible sound quality due to compression of original soundtrack. Nearly ruined the experience of replaying it for me.

GOOD TIMES

A marvelous game.

Protip: Check fucking everything everywhere on a map or house..
EVERYTHING has a flavor taste.
You won't get the usual "This item does nothing" fucking everything will have a little flavor text and it's great.

That's a great played/expected/got you have there.

I love when JRPGs do that.

Terrible encounter rate with slowass combat with even more slowass ship combat. Seriously, you could probably cook three course meal and finish by the time those ship combat animations finish.

Weirdly enough, I've just started playing this as well. Just beat the first dungeon, it's great fun so far, but like some other anons said, the combat is very slow (and difficult at times, some enemies could do hundreds of damage from one attack?) But it seems to have a great world so far, the whole Sky Pirate thing is a pretty rare sort of setting.

There's a bit of early game difficulty spike, it gets easier once you rock a full party of four.

aaaaa I want to replay it right the fuck now

MOONSTONE CANNON

I played this ages ago, I loved it, but then got utterly stuck when you fight that giant red monster on the boat. I did no damage and usually got one shot, and wound up giving up (I was very young).

I should replay it on dolphin. Maybe a speed up button could even be an option, since emulator.

Prepare to hear ALPHA STORM a lot.

In case you do, remember that you just need to use a secondary cannon on the turn before it uses its big attack or simply defend, heal and save SP up for the Harpoon Cannon in case you forgot to buy and equip a secondary cannon.

Man I was thinking the same.

Do you think theres a way to null random encounters? I remember this game having waaaaaaaaaaaaaay too much random encounters.

FIRE

Long drawn-out battles until you start leveling-up (like typical older JRPGs), battles that be challenging until you learn and can exploit enemy weaknesses, high encounter rate too, some of the most awesome ship battles ever (even to this day), characters you actually love and love to hate, a secret base shaped like a toilet, WTF IS THAT THING FROM EVANGELION?!?!, a strong desire to see Aika & Fina in their panties, optional boss battles that will test your JRPG mettle, always upgrade your cannons and NEVER use stat-upgrade items you win from certain major ship battles (Captains Stripes I think) on The Little Jack - save them for the 2nd ship you keep for the rest of the game, realize that if you lose a ship battle each subsequent try will go by the same patterns (much like the Army RPS battles in Suikoden) - just pay attention to what you do wrong so you'll know how to do it right the next time.

...

Ummm, are you aware you posted a pornographic image? Or was that intentional? Wasn't sure if you clicked on it by mistake thinking it was something else.

It's a hidden scene involving Fina and Cupil.

Looks like some common porn image? Sauce? I mean I don't believe what you're saying, but I'd still be interested in it.

So when is SEGA going to do their next batch of porting Dreamcast Classics to modern platforms?
With preferably the Gamecube version of SoA in this case

Captain Stripes carry forward to your other ships. You can use them on the Little Jack.

Seriously? Never did for me.

Captains's Stripes transfer from the Little Jack to the Delphinus if you've used them. The final HP count of the Delphinus will always be 60,000 (provided you get the stripe by beating the Chameleon in the third battle instead of letting the battle end with half its health drained).

Sega 3D Fukkoku Archives Triple Pack

Yes they did.

When I used them on the little jack on the DC version I always came up well short as they didn't carry over. Wonder if it was a bug?

I've heard conflicting reports over the past 12+ years, but I did multiple runs and they definitely transfer. I've only ever played Legends though.
