Have you tried A2?

post if you bought A2

A2 was okay, wasn't as fun as A1.

I remember anticipating tactics advance like crazy. Then completely lost interest after the snowball fight tutorial at the beginning.

Square always loved to smack down Matsuno and trample on his legacy

You really should have played after that, the game is REALLY good.

why did marche have to ruin everything?

Advance was my most clocked game on my gba. I had every job maxed out for each of my clan members.

Shit was great. Sadly A2 never could have lived up to the greatness that is Advance.

I fucking love advance

HE JUST WANTED TO GO HOME, HE DID NOTHING WRONG

This. I don't know why but there was something about A2 that wasn't the same.

> I played 10 minutes of the game and just knew that it was bad!

It's almost as if the tutorial was designed to teach children how to play the game

>completely lost interest after the snowball fight tutorial

You know FFTA was just a simplified version of Tactics right? The GBA couldn't hold all the details FFT had.

It's 2016. If they were to make a new game, it would be for a handheld or a phone.

Let it stay dead. There's no need to add fertilizer to the soil over the grave.

FFTA was a really bad game. Balance and level design are absolutely essential parts of TRPGs but they were totally disregarded in FFTA. Instead of putting effort into designing each fight, they just threw a bunch of shit together. Sure, the game can last a long time, but if none of the battles are well made then why would you waste your time?
I figure the appeal of FFTA is something like disgaea (which I also rank as one of the worst TRPG franchises); some people might spend countless hours playing because you have the option of building a team however you like, but the team-building part is actually totally unnecessary and the main game is very poorly designed.

Is this accurate? If you like FFTA for some other reason, please explain.

>tfw entire clan of Assassins with Max's Oathbows, Concentrate, and Ultima Masher

Nothing like making the game even easier than it already was.

I still love that game, silly judge system and all.

>Final Fantasy Tactics Advance > Final Fantasy Tactics

[laughs]

and gba players couldn't hold all the complex ideas fft had

The biggest problem I had with Tactics Advance was that the enemy level scaling was shit. You will almost always be at a higher level than the enemy and after a certain point enemies will stop increasing in level period. Enemies also tend to have shit skills and very rarely, if ever, have any of the good skills. The game goes from being baby tier to fetus tier in terms of difficulty pretty quickly and only gets easier the more you play.

But the GBA got a Tactics Ogre game, what the fuck are you on?

>There will never be another Tactics Ogre / Ogre Battle game
>You will never see the end or the beginning of it

>Big improvement on classes/more skills
>Retarded downgrade to MP (starts at zero every mission)
>Literally worst story in all Final Fantasy (basically "have an adventure and a good summer" or whatever)

I always want to replay it, story aside, but the MP downgrade keeps me away every time. Why did they make such huge flaws in there? Could have been 10/10 if they just added substance to the story and had max MP matter.

I'd love a new tactics on 3ds or steam right about now

I've been playing bravely default & the sequel, I need my tactics fix.

I would say the classes were downgraded since many of them were clones where 90% of the skills were the same or named different but did the same exact thing.

The MP system was even more broken though.
>use Ether at beginning of battle
>nuke everyone the next turn
>they can't recover cause they have no MP

I urge everyone here to buy tactics on the PSN store & hope that makes them realize fans want another tactics game

I hope it doesn't go mobile though

Wasn't there going to be a spiritual successor to Tactics that had Matsuno's involvement going to be on mobile? Whatever happened to that? Haven't heard about it in years.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Terra_Battle

is that it?

>"Hey buddy don't you want to go home?"
>"lol no this place is fun"
>"Aren't you worried about never making it back?"
>"Yo check out all of this cool stuff!"

The game.

After looking into it I'm thinking it was Unsung Story

wasn't that canned or something?

Final fantasy tactics is bad, turn based strategy is bad, and you're going to have to accept that most actual humans have moved on, caveman.

Latest update was June 28 this year. They're working on getting a beta release soon.

oh, good t hear that

A2 sold poorly, so they only bothered with a crappy mobile game this gen that was shut down after only a year or so. FFT is potentially dead.

Matsuno was really just a name they put on the Kickstarter, his involvement in the game is almost nonexistent.

That's what I was thinking but didn't they also get the guy who did all the music for his games too?

Its story, while simple, was still better than the melodramatic and 'deep' garbage plot the idiot fanbase loves.

This game was so fucking broken but that makes it even more fun to play.

>assassin with concentrate + any instant death skill
>paladin with double sword + excalibur
>blue mages in general
>gladiators with any kind of element boosting gear

etc. etc.

Trying it now, it's literally grind for 30 hours before it gets fun: the game. All the starting classes are trash and to get to better classes you need to make then buy the weapons you helped make from the stores. And there's no guarantee you'll be able to get the weapons you want when you need them like skills for the starting clan members. This singlehandedly ruined the game for me. I just want cool jobs that do decent damage already.

what was the best way to build marche

gonna do a fresh new start on advance, what are some fun challenges i can do to make the game more fun?

Why did they ruin so many mechanics and skills. I like the new stuff added and the new jobs and races but damn they fucked up quite a bit

story aside it has way more interesting and engaging skills with different debuffs and utility.

Ninja alone got geomancer type utilities reworked to be useful and fun.

I fucking love tactics advance and shit on A2 to this day due to the fuckups they did.

Try it with no Viera and no Bangaa (unless forced by the story)

You also have to unlock several classes via quests which was a stupid idea.

What kind of rough jobs?
