Loads of star wars games

>Loads of star wars games
>No good star trek games

Why is this?

diplomacy is boring

Elite Force was a good game.

Am I the only one who liked Legacy?

Do you really think what is essentially a morality play in space is a good basis for a game?

I've been asking that for a while

You just made me imagine a Telltale Star Trek game.

That might be cool.

For the last time Dukat, i dont know.

You better ask the captain

Because Star Wars is space opera, which lends itself to an action-oriented medium like video games.

Star Trek tends to be much slower paced. Sorry but most gamers prefer more action then just talking and negotiations.

If you made a Star Trek game properly, a huge amount of fucking idiots would cry about SJW pandering. In Star Trek.

12 year olds on Sup Forums honestly think Beyond "ruined Star Trek" by allowing the "SJW agenda" into it. Fucking Star Trek.

Would it make for a good 4x?

Who is this man and why have I seen him so much?

>tfw no Grand Strategy Star Trek game

oh no, opinions on Sup Forums making u mad

oh no

Tell me captain, I'd love to hear more reasons why I should be impressed with this federation of yours

STO isn't too bad if you treat it as a single player game

The game play is mediocre but the writing is generally good enough to stick with it

That's clearly not true though. RPGs with lots of talking remain popular, as do not-games like walking sims.

That is Gul "He did nothing wrong." Dukat.

Sword of the Stars

Why isn't there a Star Trek game where you just go around the galaxy solving weird space mysteries and stuff? While occasionally getting into a space battle or such.

Dumb opinions. Dumb opinions that remind me how many people here are underage.

Great post, though.

Hardly a grand strategy game but still top tier.

The closest you'll get is Birth of the Federation

It would be better if it weren't so focused on the Federation. Klingons and Romulans barely get any content.

Also, top level content locked behind paywall.

Because I think the best ST Games have alreay been made in their respective genres.

Elite Force 2 for FPS
Armada 2 for RTS
Starfleet Command for tactical ship combat
Starfleet Academy for arcadey ship combat

and various other that I have not played, I agree however that we could use something new and fresh

Its utter shit mate in all aspects. A souless wallet milker saved from abandon ware by an incompetent company locked into a restrictive license agreement

But its also the only active star trek game

Exactly.

I'm imagining a third person RPG where you can wander around your ship as captain, then fly around the galaxy like Mass Effect, encountering crazy scenarios. Add in a level of Xcom style combat and boom, a great Star Trek game.

If I wanted to watch a Star Trek story unfold without any real input on my part, I would just watch Star Trek.

I tried to like Legacy, I thought there was some promising content in there, it was just unreachable because of arcane controls.

I basically had the same issue with Bridge Commander.

id dig a sequel to away team, its also viable given how popular xcom remakes have been

STO is pretty baller

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Star_Trek:_Birth_of_the_Federation

never played it though

psshh step aside

>space exploration game set in trek verse where the objective is to find other alien species and try to convince them to join the federation, uphold treaties and respond to colonies in distress
>you go on voyages for a certain amount of years and are graded by how good of a job and how closely you follow federation regulations
>after each voyage get points to upgrade your ship and personnel like engineering and medical to make your ship run more efficiently,
>things you do in former voyages have long lasting implications in future voyages
>part strategy, part exploration, part sim game basically

this would be my dream trek game

I fucking loved Star Trek Elite Force. Never tried 2 though.

I seem to remember that it had actual different outcomes to things. Like there was a timer where it was possible to save somebody but if you didn't make it in time it wasn't game over, they'd just got assimilated and didn't show up for the rest.

Have you ever tried Spore?

This and add in stuff like different Captaining styles. You can focus on combat, diplomacy or an unorthodox Kirk style.

Also this.

played a little bit years ago but never got far in it

2 has way better missions and looks great as its a late Q3 game

However theres no virtual enterprise, you can date a semi naked scientist tho

Nigga please

Spore was gimped to fuck

>x-com style
>HQ is the ship
>can expand and upgrade different areas
>hire and train crew
>scan galaxy for threats, beacons and shit
>send redshirts and ensigns on away missions
>have to keep good relations with starfleet by responding to distress signals, outwitting romulans and upholding the prime directive or you lose your commission

>roleplay Janeway
>lose comission
???

>lose comission
>don't fucking care because starfleet is too far away to do shit about it

25th Anniversary, Judgement Rites and A Final Unity

They're like playing an episode of the shows, putting paid to that ridiculous "but you can't make a Star Trek game AND stay true to the spirit of the TV show" thing

Yes... yes... now, where are the games.

So a reskin of Xcom2

>build holo emitters
>hire Dr Chaotica

What is the Janeway meme anyway? About her being a criminal?

Xcom 2 with RPG elements would be breddy gud though

The fact that Janeway never had a consistent character because Voyager never had consistent writing, leading to a Captain that bounced around from "uphold the Prime Directive!" one episode to "fuck the Prime Directive!" the next

So is the series worth watching?

Not just no but a Hell no. For it to be running at the same time as DS9 it sure sucked a lot worse.

you high son?
xcom 2 is a textbook srpg.

It has some good episodes, some really bad but it's mostly mediocre shlock

The elite force game is voyager though right?

>tfw themed arena shooters will never be a thing anymore

First one yes
Second one no, TNG with playable picard

Oh, neat

Nobody with a respect and love for the IP is in a position of power.

Faggots in this thread need to become majority share owners, board of director members etc.

Then maybe we'll get something worth a damn.

I don't get it though. Trekkies are the original autists. Surely there's millions of autismbucks that could be made from new Star Trek material.

I've had a ton of fun with Star Trek Online. I'm looking forward to the console version coming out on Tuesday.

StarFleet command and Bridge commander.

Doesn't that one need friends?

Nah, Starfleet command has a fantastic campaign and you can play the expansion Orion Pirates and be a meme weapon tier asshole.

Some of the pirate ships are straight up orky, with naval phasers glued to the hull, gatling phasers and fusion cannons.

Is it just straight up battles?

they're all pretty old now, probably

So they've even more money.

It's during a time of conflict so most of the time its military or learning how the ships work to do complex tasks.

After campaign its full on war, you can do many things to achieve victory or push borders.

Has there been anything good relating to Star Trek since the 90s?

Nnnnnnope

Is this game any good?
