Yeah it looks really hit or miss. My friend git it running at 70-60 FPS, but he has a 6700k. I read a lot of shit from AMD and sandy/ivy bridge owners.

They paid 40 million USD in a settlement very recently. I dare say there might be a connection to this paid DLC.

I've put about 500 into since buying it a few months ago.

It's an open-world survival game. Are those ever 'finished'? The base game is fine, more content than 75% of any AAA game on the market. Needs some optimization tweaks, but every week they update that side of it. It's not like they stopped working on the base game to push this xpac out.

Reminds me of a MMO and JRPG on hard mode. I hate both gebres so I skipped this.

To be fair, those positive reviews were from before they pulled this crap.
The ark community is fairly upset over this.
They not only chose to produce this over fixing many of the bugs that have been around for a while, they also have promised content they have yet to deliver sitting around waiting to be deployed for years.
Also, they seem to have deleted it since, but back when the game first came out they promised all dlc would be free.

Ark can be fun if you play it like a complete asshole

>Pisses mallards off, but doesn't start a war yet
>Day or two goes by without us doing much, not much time
>Two or so days later the server suddenly resets back a few days, people kind of upset, Mallard guy says at least he got his dinos back, he logs off shortly after
>Knife grabs the dimos again and proceeds to destroy their dinos, other clanmate is helpless to stop them
>Mallard and the clan with the dimos get into fight, eventually the big clan cages the mallards, they also proceed to raid just about everyone else on the server
>Server has lost most of it's population by this point, server has another reset except it destroys all structures, knife saves the items from our stealth base, but after that the server is pretty much dead.

I'm missing some details, but that's the gist of it, the drama in chat was the best part.

The paid one runs great and the f2p one runs terribly because they are seperate dev branches.

Griefing in Ark is pretty fun, people love it when you kill all their tamed dinos.

It was never going to be a $30 game after they saw how popular it was. First map and base game is 30, Second map is another 20. Guess what, the Devs always do things in threes. Expect another map. They even correspond to the colors of the obelisks. Green is the island, red is scorched earth, that just leaves the third map for blue and another 20 dollary doos.

By then it will be a full game and the final release will be $60 on ps4 and others with all 3 arks.

griefing WAS fun, they've since added offline raid protection and tribe logs now record who destroyed what. So unless you are alpha tribe, you'll get your shit pushed in by the whole server if you try.

Second map was actually free, granted it was originally workshop content.

You can get around tribe logs by spoofing clan names, not perfect, but it can work. I'm not sure if the server I mentioned in had offline raid protection, don't think it did. Probably would make it harder, but the key is to be stealthy, we had a small base right in the middle of The Center hidden along a cliffside and I don't think anyone ever found it as it never got touched.

The ARK devs have been the busiest and most consistent EA status devs of all time, they're like the fucking prime example of getting shit done and patching every 2-3 weeks.

They have other employees make an expansion who were set to do that expansion from when the game was first even made available to play. On top of that, its good content.

Well to be fair I wasn't really the one doing the griefing, I just supplied resources and watched the action. Just playing Ark and building shit and taming dinos gets old fast, I did that for a bit with friends, but it got boring fast. I don't know how people can play for hundreds of hours and just build and pve, it's boring.

I guess I haven't gotten there yet. I merely have a bit over a 100h on it and it's really hard to get everyone to play at the same time.

I'm sure I'll one day venture onto a "proper" server, but I can't imagine ever investing too much out of fear of being griefed.

I agree. Also everyone ignores . I've mentioned it before, since it would be a legitimization why they are suddenly asking for money instead of just releasing it for free like they have been doing.

That's why you either become the alpha or you build stealthily. On The Center you can hide in a lot of places, our main bomb making base was never compromised and it was ina pretty high traffic area. No base is perfectly defended no matter how many turrets or plant species X you put up or metal walls you have. The best protection of all is building hidden away.

It looks like the sort of game I'd enjoy, but I can barely run it and my friends definitely can't run it.

People say they have improved the performance, but I didn't notice any of it.
