Anyone played this? Any good?
Anyone played this? Any good?
It's a decent ARPG. There's plenty of valid reason to play it, though it's a bit sluggish at normal speed.
its pretty decent
and its cheap to get now
so you should get it
How's the classes? According to GOG theres over 28 classes. Seems kind of neat.
Also, is there multiplayer online and lan?
There isn't 28 classes but two choice between nine mastery, they can almost all play differently though some ways are better than others especially at higher difficulties. Also yes there is multiplayer/lan.
Seems like they have everything you need to be varied. You pick a "mastery" and you get a 2nd later on . As far as I know you can re-spec after a certain point of the game.
theres like 8 or so base classes i think
its been a long time since ive played
but you can multi class at lv 20 or something and mix and match to make whatever you want to a certain extent
i remember going spirit and rouge to make a warlock
I already have Torchlight 2. It's kind of lonely though. I got far in the single player, and not too many people play online.
Is there any reason for me to get this?
Quick! Post your heroes!
I notice there's a voluptuous amount of thighs for this game. Men and women alike.
Where do I grind for Shroud of Eternal Night?
You get a second mastery at level 8, that's really early in-game. You can't change classes anymore after that.
You can respec your skills, but it costs money. You pay per skill point removed, and the price increases. It's really cheap the first couple, and eventually the cost hits a cap, you can easily grind the money needed.
Good single player?
I plan on giving this a go tomorrow. I like melee and magic, what combination of trees should I go that doesn't involve Dream?
Is multiplayer working now? I remember when i tried playing it with a friend a while back it wasnt.
I haven't played ARPGs before, but 'm having fun with it. The levels are well designed, the itemization is fun, and the skills are interesting.
The combat is a bit repetitive, but it could be due to my own choices, I'm going as single class, and relying on a single skill.
I just wish MP and trading was easier, but this is a 10 years old game after all.
Err, apparently so. I'm seeing videos on youtube with multiplayer and no one has said otherwise.
Decent gameplay, nice visuals especially in the later acts
Have you played Torchlight II? How do these compare? Should I just keep playing that?
It's slower than Torchlight 2, but there's more customization.
I've got 60 hours on steam + maybe 3 times that from nonsteam disc version.
Personally I like it way better than diablo, but I'm also a huge mythology buff.
If traveling through ancient greek/egyptian/chinese locations and killing myths from those places sounds interesting, and you don't mind dungeon crawler combat, this is a great pick up.
It has a ng+-like system so it's pretty replayable for me, as well.
Hm, sounds good. And it's only $5 on GOG.
Hope my laptop can run it.
I did play, though just a couple of hours. The game at the time didn't catch my attention, but it has been a long time, I can't remember why exactly.
But even do I'm pretty sure Titan Quest is more interesting. There's more class variation, the level design is much better, and the enemies are mythological, which I find better than Torchlight's somewhat generic enemies.
On the level design, one thing I can remember from Torchlight was that I was always entering portals. Titan Quest is very seemless.
>join a close american coop server
>my ping is 300
my shitbox from when it was released (2006) could play it on 30 fps, so I doubt you'll have any problems.
Make sure you get immortal throne, as it improves almost everything. Adds a new location. It also adds a new mastery tree, which gives you like, 9 more combinations with the other masteries.
Don't expect much online play unless you play with friends. last time I checked it's kind of dead.(a year ago)
my toaster can run the game well on medium but when the night cycle begins and torches turn on my fps hits single digits so keep that in mind
REMOVE SATYR
strange, I always had better performance at night then during the day. Then when I went into caves it would shoot up to 60fps+
Is there any way to turn the day/night cycle off?
My fps goes from a smooth 50+ to 20- when the sun goes down.
I believe titan quest defiler has the option to turn off the day/night cycle.
it's diablo 2.5 of course its good dummy
its not a coop game too so the map and the gameplay isnt destroyed for uninterrupted ''COOP HAPPY FUN TIME ADVENTUREXD''
pic related
The game randomly crashes for me when trying to join a multiplayer server and my ping spikes randomly even on local servers.
it's not made for it, but you can coop in it. Pretty fun but makes the game really, really easy.
I don't have anyone to coop with, but if I did is there a way to make it harder then?
>playing druid
>get to that boss beneath Athens
>pets literally can't touch him
>can't get spells off without eating a face full of ice
>spells do dick for damage against him anyway
>Summoner
Sold. Is it viable?
Difficulty is in something like a ng+ system where you need to beat it before being able to get the harder difficulties. Maybe TQ defiler has an option to enable it but i'm not sure about that.
I could only beat that asshole after chugging over 30 hp and energy pots as a Brigand, it took forever and it would have taken even longer if I didn't have a necklace of mana burn that stopped him from spamming spells.
This Defiler doesn't look like its been updated in a while, will it work properly with Anniversary Edition?
>play hunter/rogue
>shit on athens boss
>get absolutely demolished by the chinese bull
it's alright. you get 3-4 minions running around and a heal/auras to make them stronger. it's not D2 necromacer level but it's pretty decent.
Any other classes do summoning?
>Poison is pretty gud
>Get to Athen boss
>No damage since the boss is immune to my only source of damage
any one up for a new character lobby?
Is there an ultimate pet build? I want to cut down on my clicks per second to prevent any further carpal tunnel. I heard in another thread that Soothsayer(Nature/Spirit) was one of the better ones.
when was the anniversary edition released? defiler should work up to anything released up to 2014
poison scales with dex so you shouldn't max it first on a rogue
Spirit got a Lich and a temporary extremely strong outsider. With Nature + Spirit you can have 6 pet up, with very good debuff /buff to give them a good time.
Else,
Earth got a Core Dweller, basically the best Tank pet with a taunt
Storm got Wisp, impossible to kill without spells, buffs Elemental damage
Dream got a Nigthmare, a little flying ahriman (bat+eye thing) who does some damage, confuse, and boost pets.
Those are the basic summon you got.
Also, there's a quest in act 3 that double your pet health, and when you change difficulty they are also boosted. Still, at the end of act 3 even with maxed skill they can be frail because some enemies ( FUCKING TIGERMAN) hits like fuckign 18 wheelers
it was released about 3 days ago are you living under a rock
I would be if I had it installed.
Just bought it and it's 5 gigs, and I'm on wifi that is shared at this place I'm renting.
nature can summon wolves, too.
very recently, weeks.
It is indeed.
He asked other classes, he was already informed about nature.
It doesn't change anything when wraith mob are immune to it.
holy fuck I had no idea. I'm Fucking hell, look like another 60+ hours back into the fray
>it makes the game easy
co op with more than 3 people and every mobs does like 10x damage its ridiculous
sorry, I was referring to the original IT. Didn't even know about the anniversary edition, and it says multiplayer was overhauled so it's probably a lot better now.
>Support for modders through new modding options and a fully integrated Steam Workshop
>Dozens of new heroes and bosses to encounter
How am I going to get my uni work done now, damnit.
SUMMON BUILD. I'm lazy as fuck, my wolves just kill everything for me while I stand there.
Did they add any new bosses?
I know the higher difficulties have bonus bosses like that Giant Statue, Egyptian monster, Chinese Dragon and the Hydra from the cover
Nah, it's mostly lag and bug fixing, with a good bit of balancing. Still fun for a quick romp.
Especially since it was free if you had bought the original
does defiler and vault work with the new AE version?
I actually didn't expect to like this game as much as I do. I've been having a blast with it ever since you guys recommended it a few days ago. So if I like Titan Quest, will I like Diablo 2 or Torchlight?
steam page said new bosses and heroes
I was wondering this too. Some guy in TQ AE steam discussion said he got banned from multiplayer for using mods.
It uses the shitty original menu appearance and music. Until I find a way to swap it to the Immortal Throne version I won't bother playing it.
>Shitty original menu theme
youtube.com
>GOAT expansion menu theme
youtube.com
I am playing Grim Dawn and i have a witchhunter doing cold + poison + vitality damage. Never go for only one damage source.
I never liked the immortal throne menu and UI. It looked like it was made by a deviantart teenager.
The menu could be better but the music was far better than the original.
yah the music is much better
Oh shit, thanks for posting, I was dreading doing the labyrinth blind all over again to start grinding.
Yes
You will like Diablo II. Hell, I like Diablo II and I normally absolutely loathe min-maxing, loot-based gameplay and just this type of game in general (Titan Quest included). There is just something so inherently fun in DII, you cannot explain it. Probably because it's fast as fuck, the controls are unparalleled in smoothness and the loot is actually interesting beyond stats.
the titan quest defiler is a memory hack so you'll get banned for using it online. It probably doesn't work anymore depending on the engine changes they made.
>banned
From what, exactly?
Does this shit use VAC?
I'm playing Rogue/Hunter with a focus on poison, is this a good build for later difficulties?
online means nothing to me famalam, i just want to make new characters to start on ultimate and skip the normal/epic slog, it was fun the first two thousand times in '06, but i aint doing it again i just want to get to the good part.
they redid their online functionality in the anniversary edition
>play big tittied and thighed spartan
>don't get raped by satyr sex demons when you run out of hp
Are you using spears or bows? Spear Brigand has some of the highest single target damage in the game while Bow Brigands also have insane damage and can use poison to confuse mobs.
This doesn't answer my question, you smartfuck.
What kind of online do they use? Steam's default one with VAC enabled? or a new built-in one?
well there's mod supoport now, so.....
well seeing as it is "their" function, I'd wager it's built in and made by them.
Any Two handed greatswords or axes in this game? Any fun builds around that?
You might want to try Grim Dawn. It's made by the same guys behind Titan Quest. The story is about the apocalypse brought upon mankind by the war between extra terrestrial, ethereal body snatchers and blood demons from a parallel dimension.
Grim Dawn is definitely one of the top two ARPGs that's come out in a long time. Only Path of Exile is as good.
The old mods might work IF somehow the old and likely no longer mod developer supported things were updated to play nicely with Steam Workshop, instead of being roughly rammed in as they were into the original version of TQ.
but yeah Grim Dawn is even the same engine because the devs still had a legal claim over it or something. Which means it has the same drawbacks, namely I think they aren't able to make it really run well with modern multi-cored, multi-threaded CPUs so you'll always have a performance bottleneck in the COMPUTER CODE.
I sort of forgot how TQ was actually prettier than Path of Mudxile.
Expanding on this, are there lots of weapons to choose from? Differences?
Its meh. D3 is more fun currently. Best is Path of Exile
Yes, except that undead are resistant to poison and piercing so they'll be a pain in the ass. Everything else you should murder, hopefully before they murder you
Weapons were staffs (for the INT caster classes)
bow for ranged/Hunters
and then you had the choice between swords (good speed, little piercing), spears (slow, strongest piercing) or daggers (low damage but speedy and decent piercing)
there wasn't any 2H in the game. You were 1h + shield with Dual-wielding only available through the Warfare skill that enables it
oh and maces. derp. slower head-barshers.
There's some more stuff, like clubs, and I've got a warhammer once too.
Also, lots of sword types variety, though mechanically they're the same.
Even with the speed option, it's kind of hard to replay this after spending a lot of time with the newer games in the genre. Enemies seem really durable, and I have to sit there tanking damage because I'm too fat to get out of the way.
tfw bleed got buffed but everything is still immune to it
No 2 hander outside magic staffs. This is ancient greece.
For melee weapon you got Dagger , Sword, Axe, Mace and Spear.
Dagger and spear do a lot Pierce damage, which here is kinda like an element, with a specific reist for it ala fire or ice. Dagger are associated to Rogue tree while Hunter got a few very good spear skills.
Sword are faster than axe that are faster than mace, damge increasing accordingly. Mace are preferred weapon of Defence.
Shield counts as weapon when you are Defense, you have 3 or so skills that add a shield bash attack during a normal hit % activation.
Finally, Warfare got special skills for dual wield
>Undead were completely immune to poison in vanilla TQ
>Now they take damage from it but they have high resistance
I understand that Rogues got shit on by undead but that's still a weird change.
Speaking of immunity, is there any boss immune to electrical burn? I'm a dreamshitter, will get shafted if I met one of those.
>tfw cannot carry khopesh all the way though game
They did the same thing in Grim Dawn.
I think you may want to head over to the 2d hentai games general in /vg/
None that i know of. Generally elemental is a safe bet as long as you don't try to freeze a yeti or burn a magma sprite.
