I get a warioland vibe from watching game play of Shantae, are these games ANYTHING like that?
youtube.com
this trailer is hype as fuck
As a matter of fact, yes. You're right on the money.
they are very much like Wario Land. If you enjoyed those games, you'll love Shantae.
some people consider it a "spiritual successor" as Ninty hasn't made one in 8 years.
All in all great games.
where do I begin?
release order. start with Shantae on GBC.
Then play Risky's Revenge, then Pirate's Curse, then the upcoming Half-Genie Hero.
They are all excellent. The first game is a bit tough at first, but after some upgrades you get your bearings. Risky's Revenge is awesome but it's really short because it was originally a DSiWare title. Pirate's Curse uses slightly different gameplay and is the best one so far, but HGH could very well claim that title.
the behemoth has top tier music composers

>you all just lost
get groovin or get loosin
>Risky's Revenge is awesome
C'mon now user. It's "decent." Awesome is really pushing it. Easily the weakest shatnee, and not just because of length. The whole thing is pretty lackluster. A good example of a perfect 5/10 game.
I'd really only recommend it to people who don't want to be lost about the plot of the games, because no less than 2 major developments happen and PC might leave someone shrugging why Rotty isn't on good terms with Shanty. The other development is summarized by Risky though.
One of the best parts of that mediocre sequel, the god-tier tunes
The grooviest of beat-em ups
looking forward to the new tunes in pit people, from what i heard in the demo at PAX its sounding great so far

But still the best boss theme belongs to Starforce 3
The Shantae games have ridiculously good music. Most Wayforward stuff does, actually.
