Why haven't you made your own game yet, Sup Forums? Hundreds of Indie Devs are doing it.

If you're dissatisfied with the state of the Industry, take matters into your own hands, instead of complaining about it. Make the games you want.

If I make the game I want I won't be able to enjoy playing it.

Because I develop real software for $50/hour instead of selling shitty indie games for $2 on steam/humble

That's why you enjoy playing those you'll inspire.

That makes no sense. If you cook food, you can enjoy eating it.

>mirrored shirt

I would probably make something worse than this YIIK shit game. And that depresses me greatly because that game is one of the worst pieces of shit i've seen.

Food doesn't take months and/or years to make user.

You also have to do all the writing yourself if you're going solo and all the sense of mystery is gone if you already know what happens.

I made a game in Ren'Py. Then I realized it wasn't the right engine for me. A year later some crackers translate the game into Russian and port it to Android. It was a sentient food vore visual novel.

I keep scrapping everything I start on because I'm not satisfied.

...

laziness

the game I want to make is a ton of effort so I haven't worked on it in like three months after spending a month and a half straight of working on it

In b4, during, and after RREEEEE NUMALE

>indie nu-male the character

into the trash

why would the sense of mystery be the appeal for you

I am more bothered how the characters are positioned in the actual game versus the dialogue window. They don't match up at all.

what is this travesty

It's not made yet because shit takes a long time. Hopefully it will be finished by the end of the year though.

This is RPG GOTY

>Indie Devs

Worthless trash

This actually doesn't look too bad, and I dig the art style. It's a shame that the protagonist completely puts me off from wanting to play it.

Mad because they made a better JRPG for pennies than Atlus or SE ever could

making a game requires alot more skils, resources, and connections than most forms of media,
and most people don't have enough time to devote themselves to study all of these required skills to somewhat competent levels as a one man team and most people don't want to hire or work with other people who have skill sets that they lack, plus managing those people is a pain

Not going to lie, I would be into this if it wasn't for what looks like slow-as-fuck combat and that dumbass tagline of "A post-modern RPG"

A game far beyond your understanding

youtube.com/watch?v=IKvDypy1Mrw&spfreload=10

Because I want to play games, not work on them.

>nu-male protagonist
LOL what a bunch of faggot cucks

If I made shit, I still don't enjoy it even If made it. Fuck you and fuck your analogy.

>being a nu-male means having compassion, loving art, and being witty

Never change, Sup Forums

Game development is really heavily skewed towards artists. A lot of types of games are actually super simple to make if you use a modern game engine and have a reasonable scale for your one man army project. Getting all the art/music assets put together is far and away the hardest part unless you're an artistic person yourself.

I can't program and want to kill myself because I'll be nothing but an ideas guy.

You can always be a game journalist

I want to make videogames not eat shit.

>memes
>nu male
>Mother inspired

at what point did we die and went into meme-hell?

everyday we stray further from god's light

>mirrored shirt text

To be fair, while I don't like the game, I think the "lolnumalecucksjw" criticism is skin deep and there are plenty of other things to criticize it for like:

>Being another fucking Earthbound clone.
>The deliberate, yet poorly applied janky animations.
>The blatant appeal to retro styling while misapplying a good portion of what the 90's looked like. (There could be a justification, but judging from the media I've seen there isn't much to go on.)
>Being another fucking Earthbound clone.

Seriously, isn't everyone tired of these types of RPG's that have been sprouting up like a weed lately as if taking inspiration from a classic game is a justification for their existence. Other than LISA, Undertale, and OFF!, (Which came long before this whole wave of Mother-inspired games.) just about any other game from this minor boom is a waste of time.

Also, I have made my own game fuck face, it's a bad whack-a-mole clone using Diglett.

Mother was already a shitty meme-game, so this game is being pretty faithful

Here's your (You)

>Be artist
>Want to make my own game
>Good art takes time
>No time for game since I have to make a living
>Want to quit job and start a patreon to finance game
>Afraid that people will hate muh fetishes and I wont be able to make a living.

There is no escape.

I'm guessing you're a pedophile

It's not my fault that lolis are so sexy

Just make a princess maker game

What's the name of the girl?

Holy shit why is every single animation so long? It's like a Telltale game that just hangs at the end of a scene because the game needs to load. And the little minigames are awful too. Fuck that record scratch takes so long but the 8 hit combo didn't do any more damage than a 3 hit combo.

Vella

I think it's less about having those traits and more about being an SJW.

WHAT THE KEK IS THIS

What about the Mini-game combat?

The Earthbound/Undermeme clones are fucking everywhere now

Why does Sup Forums hate this, again? It has undertale music!

Which is easier to pick up, learn and make a ASCII Rogue-Like with? Game Maker or RPG Maker VX Ace. I don't mean some shitstain like The Binding of Isaac, I mean something akin to Ancient Domains of Mystery, Dungeon Crawl: Stone Soup, or Nethack?

...

>Andrew Fayette (Yuri of Wind)

Doesn't he literally just make videos about games?
What the fuck made anyone want him as a voice actor. It's not like they had a scarcity of VAs to pay, noting that they have ones who already did dubbed anime. They probably just wanted him to shill their game to his youtube subs.

Where's the line between RPG Maker games and Earthbound clones?

>Music didn't sound like that in 1999
>2 normal enemies take 5 minutes each to defeat
>The Voice Acting is so damn mediocre and they all sound like they're 2 feet away from the mic
>lolsorandom90snostalgia humor
>Enough has been said about the animation and overall design
I will give credit where it's due, I like the variety in the attacks. But this game has so many bad choices, and this is only 2% of the game

none
learn to code fag

>it made more on kickstarter than Undertale

top zew

I was working on two games and had ideas for 3 more, but then I distracted with something else and forgot about it.

I have almost none of the necessary skills. I can't program. I can't make music, animations, or even the most rudimentary art. Even basic math gives me a headache, so I probably wouldn't be good at balancing, either. The only relevant skills I have are writing and maybe voice acting. I'd need an easy-to-use editor with lots of premade assets and some kind of script generator to make it easy to set up events. I've been looking into making quests for Skyrim or modules for NWN, but even if I could figure it out, I'd need story ideas, and I don't really have any at the moment.

If you're going to use ASCII graphics just code it in a real language. That way you can set up classes for your items and enemies and junk.
Roguebasin has a couple tutorials to start you making a game. The one I saw was in Python, which is super easy to learn.

>get further and further into development
>have to keep doing all the work myself, people who agreed to work with me don't ever do work they're saying they're doing
>people who actually do help only have minor jobs and don't really contribute much beyond spit and polish
>learn to be exceptionally grateful of just this after a few months of work
>it is now 2 years in development and still no real gameplay to show, had to redo a few things so that the game worked
>becoming an exceptional artist quick since unless I can pull out a shit ton of cash out my ass hourly no competent artist will work
>constantly pick up speed in work and then hit some obstacle that slows me way the fuck down, lose all motivation, and fix it a month later
>99% of the time it's some problem that literally only I can fix because nobody on all of Earth uses my same engine and also had the same problems I'm having
>still have an assload more work to do
>still doing it, no longer because I want to do it but because of how much work I've already done surrounding it also the fact I've made working on it a hobby and outlet for my emotions

I also think I have ADHD on top of all my numerous other mental and physical health issues since I can't focus on learning coding worth a damn.
I'm making the game for free and intend it to be distributed freely as well, but because of that I have little to no motivation to pursue it and even if I did have a kickstarter or something for it I likely would just do the same exact thing: work on it for years then dump an unfinished piece of shit. I don't want to ever be that kind of scumfuck person, I'd rather finally kill myself than be such a disgusting rat at the heels of society.

>a forth wall breaking RPG where the hero realizes that you, the player, exist

>He still hasn't played the best Mother/OFF-like of the year

It's only $5 user, what's your excuse?

Because coders and engineers are increasingly irrelevant in game development, and I'm not nearly creative enough to pitch an idea.

LISA is better.

>a 4th wall breaking meme
yeah i think i'm gonna pass

>of the year

Programming is what I know best and I like having projects to work on, but I don't think most of the ideas I'd have for a game are worth investing the effort into and I'm not keen to just go "eh, fuck it" and contribute another lackluster platformer with pixel graphics or something like that into the already huge pile of forgettable games out there

I have no knowledge in anything needed to make the game I want to make.

Kinda like toribash but in the Euphoria physics engine, everyone stands up on their own, and with many-on-one fights in a story mode.

That kills my interest in any game, and that's especially true for an RPG.

My drawings look worse than Sonichu, my math skills are African-tier and I have zero training in sound design.

I have zero of the necessary skills.

OFF already did it.
And I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say that OFF did it much better.

Why would they feel the need to do that?

what is happening with that one indie game where the characters look alright except for their fucking ugly tumblr noses?

Guy who was making it got so sick of people complaining aboutbthe noses he changed them, now all smaller and pink. If you go on the website you can see it in the game's merchandise.

>JRPG
Jewish Role Paying Goyme?

I wish I could make something similar to Unteralterbach

>Guy who was making it got so sick of people complaining aboutbthe noses he changed them

You mean he listened to his fanbase and made a small change that affected nothing to the actual gameplay just to better please them like a good developer.

If I like it or not.

>a postmodern RPG

Because I have 0 art talent

>Something else did this thing therefore literally nothing else ever can or else it's shit
I'm sure GLITCHED will be shit but fuck off if you're going to say X did it first.

god this game looks like ass

Off wasn't the first game to break the fourth wall and address the player, if that's what you're implying.

None of my ideas will ever get past being ideas, because I know damn well i can never commit enough to making anything like a video game.

My best bet is to find someone else who has the dedication and confidence to do this stuff and help them out with conceptual things and writing.

nuh uh bro he was FUCKING CENSORED REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
