You realize it's still going to be called "Wii [subtitle]", right?
Why would they ditch their most successful brand? And Miitomo and Miitopia are still a thing, so looks like the "Wii", with all it's stupid Wii gimmicks like Miis and shit aren't going anywhere just yet.
I don't think they're that stupid after the Wii U confusion early on.
Ryder Gutierrez
They're must successful brand is their company name itself. Nintendo ___ will sell.
Nolan Lewis
Nintendo Wii don't give a shit anymore.
Camden Phillips
>square wii nx
Joseph Collins
I believe they said that they were going to move away from the Wii name, but the confirmation of Just Dance 2017 for the NX means that it will have some sort of motion controller, so who knows what they'll do.
Adrian Myers
We've known for a while that Nintendo will "move away" from the Wii/DS branding. Why do you think that they've dropped the grey label and merged their retail space to the big red NINTENDO logo when it used be separate Wii U and 3DS baners.
Charles Lopez
The Wii U didn't failed because of branding confusion. It failed because nobody cared for it except the Nintendo diehards.
>Why would they ditch their most successful brand? Because of the Wii U.
>The Wii U didn't failed because of branding confusion The thought that the Wii U was a peripheral for the original Wii was so prevalent that one holiday season, Nintendo had to have an ad campaign specifically targeting that.
Austin Thompson
Please explain then why Miitomo and now Miitopia are a thing? It's a Wii. There's no doubt about it. Screen cap this,As a matter of fact, if it's not a 'Wii", i will fuck my Wii.
Gabriel Reyes
>The Wii U didn't fail because of branding confusion. I don't know whether it did or not, but literally every expert said that was the major reason its launch was godawful.
Daniel Garcia
Miis started on Wii, but they're not bound by it. It's a Nintendo thing overall. Miitomo being a thing shows that, if anything.
Connor Brown
>if it's not a 'Wii", i will fuck my Wii. please provide pics
Adam Ramirez
Interesting, but how would the controllers be powered when detached? Each have individual batteries in them?
Aiden Phillips
>Nintendo Nexus
Daniel Scott
Maybe? Though it'd be weird to have 3 different, separate batteries on one device (2 controllers and 1 screen/consoles)
Jacob Lopez
They might well actually just call their new system the "NX". "DS" was initially just their internal codename for their Game Boy successor handheld
Leo Adams
Exactly. I think I remember reading a report that the controllers would end up using infrared to communicate to the screen/console, but that still wouldn't explain how they would function when detached. I wish they would just show it already so we can stop speculating.
Wyatt Garcia
>Please explain then why Miitomo and now Miitopia are a thing? Phone app about Miis+ 3DS game about Miis = NX is a Wii because of Miis?
It was Nitro, actually. Check a DS game's cartridge front and you'll see NTR.
Justin Wilson
>literally every other console/handheld codename has been at least marginally different from the release name Nice cherry picking, user!
Easton Cox
It's prolly going to be similar to how 2 PS Moves work.
Adrian Green
yes, because if they were serious about a brand change, they would have called "miitomo" something else during development and same thing with "miitopia" which is a brand new game for 3DS. The "mii" is an extension of the Wii brand and it would be awkward if there were no "Wii' to go along with it. The NX will be a WIi. screencap this as well.
Ethan Bell
kek
Nicholas Lee
>Wii NeXt
Wyatt Bailey
I'm not convinced that naming the Wii U something else like the "Wii 2", the "Wii HD" or the Ultra Super Duper NES would've made much of a difference. Its entire concept was fundamentally flawed. The console was not as casual-friendly like the Wii and too underpowered for the dudebros.
Brody Brown
>The "mii" is an extension of the Wii brand and it would be awkward if there were no "Wii' to go along with it Then why are they on 3DS and now phones?
David Sullivan
Nintendo considers Miis to be their own thing now, separate from Wii.
Cooper Perry
BECAUSE THE NX WILL BE THE WII TO TIE THEM ALL TOGETHER
Hudson Lewis
Well, I honestly hope so. At the end of the day, I think we'd all like it to be called something else.
Jaxon Richardson
Well, i know a lot of normies that didnt know the Wii U was an entirely new console, even though they loved the original Wii. It might not have been the main factor, but the name + a gamepad that looks like a mere add-on played a large role.
Charles Scott
It's going to be something retarded like U and Mii
Kayden Baker
>Why would they ditch their most successful brand? To avoid confusion with... well... the Wii. One of the main reasons why the Wii U didn't do so well was because of the name. Just ask any normie and they'll think it's a Wii with a tablet instead of an actual successor.
Henry Perez
wii classic but its actually just pc painted like a nintendo with a chassis status screen.
comes with every super smash brothers and is literal cancer.
Connor Sanders
It wasn't the primary cause, but it, combined with the horrible advertising that failed to acknowledge it was even a console, led to plenty of confusion that no doubt damaged it.
Lincoln Stewart
u and *ai
Jace Rodriguez
If they had named the Wii U something like Wii 2 and had a traditional controller and the Wii wagglan controls instead of the tablet, they probably would've been outselling the Xbone by now.
Kayden Perez
If the NX is the third Wii, does that mean Nintendo goes all the way home?
Angel Carter
Itll be called the New Wii U and it'll bomb like hell
Lucas Butler
Alright, I ad a giggle.
Samuel Hughes
The gamepad is exactly the problem. It has less functionality than an iPhone and isn't even truly portable.
Hudson Reyes
Post mock-ups. It's definitely thrown together, but shows most of the concepts from the various reports in a way that mostly makes sense.
It was more-so confusion rather than hatred for the gamepad. No one outside of a few nerds actually cared that it existed, they just thought it was a mere add-on and that's it.
To this day I see people saying shit like "Oh, the new Zelda is coming out? For what console?!". Even I was confused during E3 when they showed it off, thinking it was just a handheld.
Nathan Adams
Wiinx peenx
Luke Foster
>Their most successful brand
They're going to name another DS console?
Logan Cooper
Please explain then why Mario and now Donkey Kong are a thing? It's a NES. There's not doubt about it. Screen cap this,As a matter of fact, if it's not 'NES", i will fuck my NES.
Blake Parker
It's recently been there least successful brand.
Carson Butler
Exactly. The gamepad doesnt look like the main controler, it looks like a gimmick for some shovelware like the Wii Fit.
Hell, my father is decently knowledgeable on this stuff, and he still had a hard time wrapping his head around the Gamepad being a controller.
Dominic Russell
What the fuck are you even saying. Mario and Donkey Kong are games, not exclusive to one console but to the Nintendo brand as a whole. Miis go hand in hand with the Wii
Parker Phillips
What the fuck are you even saying. Mii are games, not exclusive to one console but to the Nintendo brand as a whole. I can't replace anything in your last sentence to make you realize how stupid you're being
Christian Ward
all the newer parents are letting their kids play with their smartphones early.
nintendos console babby market strategy is completely fucked.
David Hall
>Miis go hand in hand with the Wii Which is why they have DS, 3DS, and now phone games?
Christian Thomas
i know you're probably baiting but an M isn't a W. Miitomo is working against your point, the Miis are on "iPhones" and "Android" devices and you can't actually use it on a Wii
Angel Baker
So parents will think it's an add-on to the Wii U, which they didn't buy because the Wii U was just an add-on to the Wii?
Juan Hernandez
Hope you got a small dick to be able to slide it into the disc slot...
William Martinez
>that shitty d-pad design again why the fuck would they ever use this when they already have their own design patented and in use on all their systems
Nathaniel Baker
>Wii U NX >Wii Unix A Wii running open source GNU/Linux OS confirmed
Daniel Evans
Look, I get it. None of us want this to be a "Wii" . But at least I've come to terms with the fact that it undoubtedly will. I'm just saving myself from the inevitable disappointment that will come with the revelation that it is, in fact, a Wii. Lying to yourself that it won't be isn't going to make it any less of a Wii. All signs point to Wii, and I honestly thought you guys were familiar by now with how backwards Nintendo's decisions are and have been recently.
Caleb Sullivan
>none of us want this to be a "Wii"
Nowhere have I said that in my post. I'm trying to point out why saying an intellectual property means it's going to be X console is full fucking retard. Which you apparently still don't understand.
yeah i forgot patents don't last very long at all so naturally their d-pad isn't patented anymore. have they shown any designs with that or is it a rumor/speculation? it looks pretty bad but i suppose the d-pad isn't really used that much anymore
Andrew Martin
Wii (2017)
Charles Morgan
Let's Play Video Games and Emily Rogers reported on the Vita-esque split dpad, but there's patents for "modular controls", which I suspect could be about the control itself.
There's literally nothing "retarded" about it. The Mii brand and everything that was conceived alongside it are giant insinuators of what is to come. The fact that they didn't rename all of those applications on the 3DS home-screen suggests they are still of their old mindset. There's nothing technical about this. If they were serious about reformation of image/reputation/branding then we would start to see changes. But no, we still have Streetpass and Miiand things all related to and associated with the Wii brand. Stop being so stubborn. I can't wait to see your stupid fuicking faces when this shit is Wii New or some shit.
Landon Gomez
It will be called the "Wii 1"
It will be revealed years later that this was a prediction. As the name is short for "We won"
Justin Williams
Because they applied that logic with Wii U and got only 1 tenth of Wii's sales?
Joseph Wood
there were plenty of other factors that resulted in the lack of Wii U sales. Don't act like it was exclusive to the name alone
