I finally got around to playing the ace combat games and i must say. They are are fantastic. The fantasy world was very engaging and felt well paced. Whats your opinion on Ace Combat?
Did you listen to that song?

The journey begins
Does AC4 emulate any better or do I still have to choose between either no textures or flying through molasses.
It's pretty much a given that Ace combat is one of the few things Sup Forums unanimously loves.
That actually sums up how i felt, i genuinly thought i was going not have fun
Never knew Sup Forums liked this game
literally the best insignia
AC unit insignias are the shit
This game has a boss ass OST
just look at this shit
>The fantasy world was very engaging and felt well paced.
The setting is usually pretty boring though. We know very little about it other than what we can guess from the way the countries/wars are very obviously based off real world ones. The only time it was interesting was in AC3, and that game is nearly two decades old at this point.
...
I wonder if there are any patches like these floating around. If not, well, I wonder how you would go about making them.
...
Ive been trying to get some made on a base thats near by i only got the razgriz and G/A/L/Ms started. id like to try my hand at making a few. if they arnt crap ill get extra and try to sell them for cheap
Ask around the patchgeneral on /k/.
you mean like this?
There's a guy on /aceg/ that makes patches. Go ask them for a link to his store.
The PS2 games are all among the favorite games, even after all these years.
Now we just need to hope 7 can recapture the magic...
That would be rad user.
The insignias also look cool enough that they wouldn't look that out of place among actual military patches.
Props to whoever designed em.
>directed by the guy who also directed AC5 and AH
Not looking good so far.
Well, thank you anons.
user please dont kill my hopes this early
Is there any series that is so underrated and misunderstood as Ace Combat? Anyone that has not played it will instantly assume it's some Top Gun arcade clone. It's basically metal gear with airplanes, but with less weird.
>wants more of strangereal
>only played Ace combat games
Time to play some ridge racer too sempai
Post favorite color scheme.
idol shit need not apply
Call me edgy, but this is my favorite. It was the closest I could get to a Trombe color scheme at the time
I never said I wanted more of it. I'm just neutral towards it. If they use it more then okay. If they don't and just have another setting like ACI then I'm okay with that too.
I'm an idiot

You welcome
>tfw already got GALM
I miss the story telling style from Shattered Skies. I liked how it depicted the helplessness of occupied territory, and it humanized the enemy without resorting to "everyone has a good reason for fighting".
I have SO FAR TO GOOOOOO
How well does AC4/5/0 emulate on PCSX2 these days? I heard they used to have texture/collision detection problems
I think it emulates alright if you have a strong cpu
youtube.com
Umm... Is AC Infinity ok? I've been feeling to play AC again. AC 2 was the last one i played.
it's alright with a strong CPU. the slowdown can get really annoying, as you have to run in software mode if you don't want the ground to flicker.
It's so sad that they had such a great antagonist in AC4 and then somehow fucked it up and just had evil monsters who have no personality other than being evil in AC5. And the good guys are terrible too, since they're so ridiculously innocent that they still want peace even after the enemy tries to murder an entire city with nerve gas.
Seriously, what the fuck went wrong with that game's writing?
THERE'S OCEANS IN BETWEEN US
MiG-29 IS BAE
>when he plays the fucking peace song over the speakers during the naval shitshow near the end
fuuuck me
Two problems with Infinity. The first is that you can't play as much as you want unless you pay. You get a small pool of recharging fuel and you can get some more from challenges/rare drops, but if you want to play a significant amount you need to buy more, and it gets expensive fast. Or you can just play on the recharging fuel and save up the challenge fuel, but that takes a long time.
The second is it's pretty grindy. It takes a long time to work your way through the aircraft tree and then even longer to level up your planes, and since the game came out two and a half years ago everyone else will be way ahead of you. Being stuck with a Phantom while everyone else has Raptors and Fullbacks and Rafales or whatever isn't fun. I honestly can't recommend it at this point.
AW MAN NOT MY BUNK
I HAD ALL MY RECORDS IN THERE
hopefully it stay that way after AC7 comes out
Any AC fans join the military to fly? I'm in advanced training now. I got eye surgery, I can answer questions for anyone interested.
Even the fleet of yellow ribbons-nameless nobodies, had a more powerful entrance for me than the Ghosts of Razgriz. AC6 had a pretty good final battle too though
Strigon team was amazing. I actually think that despite having some of the worst writing, AC6 also had some of the best.
It was fucking weird.
...
thanx.
Srry, meant AC Zero, forgot about 6, never played it
what game does the best job of teaching real dogfighting principles?
AC4, 5, and Zero are an unquestionable 10/10 trilogy.
Is there a full translation for 3(?) yet?
That Gelb and Grun are so cool. Shit I loved Zero.
Wanted to, but I'm too tall to fit in a fighter jet.
6 isn't so bad. The side stories bring the overall plot down, but it looks so damn good and has some great superweapon missions.
Me too, I decided to do pararescue instead, at least i get to save the people i want to be like
you think ac6 had worse writings than Assault Horizon...?
AH's writing was better just because it wasn't a translation. The other games are pretty obviously written in Japanese first and then translated to English, and they don't always do a good job with the translation. AH was doesn't have that problem. It's not great, but at least the dialogue feels natural.
>not sympathizing with Belka
fucking disgrace. they were merely just recouping their honor from their past defeat
Assault Horizon looked like for a second that it had a decent story going on, but then it became really clear that the campaign was really short and due to its hamfistedness just ended up being really bad overall
If it incorporated some decent pacing it wouldn't have been god awful
4,5, and 0 are the must plays
6, X, and the DS Assault Horizon are alright
don't bother with Assault Horizon
Did you know there are three kinds of Aces?
youtube.com
...
It's kinda hard to sympathise with Belka when AC5 presents them as 100% evil with no redeeming features whatsoever. Except Pops, who is nice. And the other Belkans hate him for not being as evil as them.
Seriously though, they're really boring characters. Y13 has an actual personality and relationships with other characters. The Belkans sure don't, they're just the enemies that you kill. Or sometimes they eject, except really, that doesn't make a difference. You could say you killed Ofnir/Grabacr the first time you fought them and they got replaced by more Belkans and it wouldn't make a difference, since it's not like there's anything unique about them anyway. They're just a generic enemy.
At least AC0 did a good job. The Belkans there have personalties. I like those guys. Why couldn't we have had those guys in AC5? They might have been interesting.
While we're on the topic of a truly marvelous game, I fucking despise the first White Bird mission. I can't count how many times I raged over going back and forth trying to destroy cruise missiles and then failing.
What mission do you hate the most?
>ac5
I hope you mean 6.
...
The first sub fight in AC5, whatever it was called, the fucking fortress raid with the tank escort, and what you just said.
Oh whoops, I was getting confused. Kono was only producer on AH, not director. But that's still not looking great.
6 has the best gameplay in the series.
>tfw this comes on
youtube.com
Trying to find Nagase when she was grounded. I don't know why, but I had a stupid hard time with that mission my first playthrough and subsequently have no love for it now.
ACE COMBAT 7 WHEN!?!?!
I hated the dog fight right after the ground support mission on the fortress. the first time i played i was in a fuckin F-117 there was no way i was going to survive a dog fight in that thing and i get slightly upset just thinking about that
> *also on PC
Did 6 have dog fight mode in it like assault horizon? I hope not.
No, DFM was an AH addition
Thank all that is holy, that was the only reason i haven't tried to play 6, hopefully that fucking travesty doesn't get added to AC7
I thought Zero fags said 5 didn't have good dog fights/ boss battles?
I know I know. You would have never known you would be pitted against Air to Air on coming from an Air to Ground mission.
I guess its a win for multirole aircraft.
Also you just need to evade for a while until the squadron that doesn't exist gets called off before they're identified.
Yea I really shouldn't feel the way i do about it, Looking back it's pretty cool that the 92nd caught them off guard when they weren't expecting it. it was a one time deal and it just left me a little bitter, i did manage it though so obviously it wasn't that hard, and i think 5 had really cool dog fights.
Don't worry user they got me too. I used the A-10 on my run because I believed the prior mission was close air support.
Thanks, at least i wasn't the only one who fell for it.
That close air support mission was really neat
I just beat Ace Combat 5 recently.
I was pretty annoyed by it at first, but after saving Nagase, the game took a turn for the best.
>mfw that stadium mission
>escaping sand island
>mfw defending the fleet while the stadium song played
>that second to last mission where everyone comes to your aid
>that final mission
Fuck, it made up for everything.
>this is sea goblin, wheres that motor mouth?
Bruh
...
I remember playing Ace Combat 5 at my friends house with his giant ass surround sound system blasting it as loud as we could stand it.
Comfy as fuck. Talk about being immersed.
I don't think any AC game has ever been multiplatform. Unfortunately.
6 plays pretty much exactly like the 4,5, and zero. It just looks a lot better and has a weaker story.
Belka did nothing wrong
...
Assault Horizon.
>The game could have been so good
>Instead they cowadooty it
That's not a real AC and you know it.
Theres just something about a chorus that can add gravitas to a situation

Still Kobayashi's magnum opus.
So what happened to Edge after Ace Combat 5?
I'm not sure what you are talking about. There are no AC games after 6
Shamrock is the worst wingman.
7 is on the way niggah.
