I haven't played risen in years, it ran very poorly on my shit laptop, which sucks because it's so gorgeous. Fun game, I heard the end one blows and third one is meh. Play Gothic II and divinity II, or maybe check out mount and blade warband user

The first Gothic is literally an autistic bum simulator. Ignore it, unless you're autistic yourself. Gothic 2 is genuinely one of the best RPGs with Night Of The Raven addon installed, that modifies even the vanilla parts of the game. Gothic 3 is dogshit, literally Oblivion without the charming side quests. Risen 2 and 3 are shit.

It is, but you don't play Gothic games for the story, since it's extremely weak and cliched. You play it for exploration, side quests and tough combat and NotR shits all over Gothic 1 in this retard.

You can try playing Gothic 1 in order to understand the story better, but you'll most likely give up in the first few hours, so I'll just sum it up for you in one sentence: a big bad evil has literally awoken and you've blown its ass up, the end.

It has great progression system, best atmosphere among PB games and it was ahead of it's times in many respects. It was one of the first if not the first fully voiced open world rpg, and only reason why people can't get used to it is the control scheme which isn't all that bad if you get used to it.

I remember someone telling me that wolves in one of the Gothic games were dangerously cheesy faggots that will wreck your shit, is this the case for Gothic 2?

Also fuck everyone saying Gothic 3 is shit. Yeah it's nowhere near as good as Gothic 2, but it was fun, and you got the community patch that fixes the broken combat. Also the world is interesting to explore and the atmosphere is great, together with the god tier music
