What makes Warframe better than Destiny?
I keep meaning to start that properly. Just rarely in the mood for a sci-fi mmo (even Warframe is just fantasy dressed-up as sci-fi). But you're right it's got a lot going for it.
It's free, it's got an AH, and the combat. Like really the combat is just so much fun. I'm not ragging on anyone who likes Destiny, I just think that Warframe just did a lot of the same things better and, again, for free.
>are MMO's worth it?
No. Gameplay and story are never engaging because they're meant to keep you playing forever rather than crafting quality. Also, people you run into are typically shit tier.
MMO's died when games that made you socialize - like FFXI and EQ - were dumbed down to WoW levels, which has only dumbed down itself even more.
>warframe
>good
Never played Destiny.
Warframe is a shitty third person shooter that has wizards with guns instead of ninjas. Majority of the gameplay is grinding, too.
Community is also shit sucking up DE's cock every chance it gets. They also treat the game as if its some hardcore game.
Only the parkour mechanic's good and even then, there isn't a lot to the combat that lets you use them. It became a mechanic just to get from point A to point B. Shame, too, since some of the levels, especially the stealth missions, are designed for them.
NO.
Everquest is still fantastic to chill in and raid.
Rift had very good/fun raiding when I played (a while ago, from what i hear it's gone to shit).
XIV for erp and fashion
Neverwinter is surprisingly engaging. I play it with my friends from time to time.
I just find being limited to FPS a really boring form of combat. I wish they had actually implemented melee. Also, both games are grindy. Warframe has more grind but it is built around that so if you're into loot-whore-y games, and I am, then Warframe is the way to go.
>Secret World for free Cthulhu/Illuminati
If only the gameplay wasnt so fucking awful.
Is Secret World an actually good game or is it just a cool setting?
Holy cow you got a 9!
Yeah the gameplay is just a means to an end, just look up a cookie cutter build that requires you to play the game as little as possible and enjoy the zones and atmosphere and shit.
Well if you mean the combat then yeah, you really don't play The Secret World for the combat. You play it for the mysteries, cliche as they may be.
Yeah, a lot of it is the setting and characters. And the fashion. You don't play it to feel uber l33ts. It's just fun to be in that world.
I wish more MMO had serious RP servers
Especially EQ

EVE Online
>Rift
Im so upset it went dead
Saboteur bombing people was so fucking fun
and the classes were all badass
If you have a group of friends that are willing to join you, WoW is actually pretty great.
It doesn't require a significant time investment anymore and scratches that MMO itch if you are so inclined.
Pugging is really shit so don't do that.
Do you have any idea how much of a clusterfuck EQ rp would be at this point? The burden of knowledge on the player to have any clue what the fuck is happening is astronomical after 17 years
DDO is good, but it's on life support.
I'd rather pay once actually, rather than a monthly fee.
Yeah. But it's one of the few MMORPGs that remembered the "RPG" part
fps doesn't mean guns user
It does in the context of Destiny.
DDO or Neverwinter?
Try GW2, the base game is even f2p now.
DDO for a the MMO version of D&D. Neverwinter for a more action-y game set in Neverwinter after a big cataclysm.
Both are good just depends what you're in the mood for.
Like there's a reason that Neverwinter works on consoles (that's not a bad thing).
I've played a ton of both Destiny and Warframe and they're nothing alike
LazyPeon is so cute, if sometimes a bit abrasive. But his "Is it Worth Playing" videos are pretty good.
Recently went back to Warframe and hadn't realised just how much alike they are.
Also, forgot about Tera. If you like furries and catgirls and want an action focused, mostly soloable game that's pretty good.
Leveling in Tera is kind of a drag though, I'd suggest playing it with friend or you'll never make it to max level unless you really enjoy the weeb aesthetic.
I wish RIFT was still good.
Eldevin is pretty ballin' if you like(d) Runescape.
Well yeah, you had really want to like that Korean MMO look if you're going to play it. If you're into straight-up weeb then there's Dragon's Nest, Aura Kingdom, and Maple Story. Personally loved Dragon's Nest but they fucked something up when the EU guys sold it on.
Got bored of GW2 after 4 years of playing.
Aion online is quite comfy but that might just be my bias.
I'm still waiting for a proper flying mmo that fully utilizes 3d movement with both air and ground environments.
Play wildstar.
dragon's dogma online
>Eldevin
Must check it out
>Aion online
Haven't played in years. Got the steelcase version and everything. Even had the panda pet. Oh, now I want to play it again, I don't even care the those fuck-ups own it now in the EU
i enjoyed FFXIV and Heavensward for the story content, great quests and story but once you are down it gets repetive! I also like TOS for crazy korean grind action
dis nigga knows what's up
I only like black desert but the rng is absolutely insane and anoying
Post more robutt
Always felt like something was missing from WildStar. Never could put my finger on it.
Never had a problem with the RNG but I do play a lot of mobile games and there it's the norm. I might not go back depending on the real impact of all the recent changes. (I'm not really into PvP)
...
>Always felt like something was missing from WildStar.
It's you
Awh. *blush*
the next camelot, is it good ?
DFO is probably the most fun I've had actually playing an MMO, and now that's it's not being jewed up by Nexon, its even better.
All modern themepark MMOs are complete shit but FFXIV at least looks pretty and has some really great encounters from time to time. I can't even fathom how anyone could still be playing WoW after WotLK, everything is so slow and simple. Rift was amazing before it turned P2W sadly, The Secret World is still great for RP and questing and ESO and RoR are the only good PvP MMOs right now (which doesn't say much).
XIV always bored the shit out of me. I tried to get it into it so many times but i always gave up after few hours.
Have you tried to level a WoW char from level 1 these days? Hell, even the newest quests are all "collect 10 moth butts" and "kill 15 nigger salamanders". In FFXIV I stopped doing any quests beside the mainstory and dungeon after hitting level 20, just pick a healer or tank and spam those dungeons.
There was a story?
DDO is great if you have a group of people on same wavelength as you who will slowly go through story and dungeons. Neverwinter is basically an action MMORPG with D&D skin applied.
Leveling in Terais much better once you reach expansion areas because they condensed it a whole bunch more so you're not chasing NPCs anymore.
You really didn't play far, did you? The story itself is not that great but there are quite some good moments later on and it's definitely the best in the entire MMO genre.
>Is Secret World an actually good game or is it just a cool setting?
great story and setting stuck in a mediocre mmorpg's body
MMOs really dont need cutscenes and story.
Both have their value, personally I'd just rather play DDO.
Yeah, but totally worth the mediocrity if you like that kind of setting.
I agree, but it's pretty good at what it is. MMORPGs should be about YOUR story told through systems and experiences you go through.
Mabinogi. One of the best MMOs of its time. I fucking loved the idea of being able to use s different class without switching accounts or characters, and even now, it's still uncommon. Too bad shitty Gachas and Reforges made it P2W unless you have a retarded fuckton of gold.
Warframe. Fuck is it fucking grindy as fuck but man, I find it fun when I'm not grinding. Blasting away shit with my Tigris, punching them into the stratosphere while yelling ONE PUUUNCH as Atlas, or sending them to the moon with Jat Kittag. Not to mention it has an unparalleled (IMO) artstyle and aesthetic. Fashion is also 10/10.
Both games are grindy as fuck so be prepared.
Warframe can vary wildly in experience. If you're content with starting shit and just the experience of being a space ninja wrecking shit you'll have a blast, but if you see something you like and it's locked behind a grind wall that will take you two weeks to get through it's easy to get disheartened. I just wish they put more emphasis on story in the game.
Not gonna lie they're doing a great job with all the updates if you main warrior I suggest you comeback pretty profitable events going on aswell
>no pve
could be cool if done right, but it'll probably have the production values of ass
I want to love Warframe and would probably be playing it but I can't stand the aesthetic at all.
By all rights I should enjoy Rift, but it's as if developers made the blandest MMORPG possible by design by taking the boring aspects for both WoW and EQ2.
I main sorc. But maybe, it's not like leveling takes long.
It's certainly unique. I like it but I can see how it'd be off putting.
They are. Too bad it's taking forever for the next cinematic quest to come out.
I miss when I was new. Seeing someone with different weapons, like the Paris, was cool. Seeing the newest Warframe (Valkyr I believe) was awesome, a fucking invincible berserker, going on long after we died. The Void was a scary place because everyone, even at T1 level was much stronger than me. The one time I saw a Prime, I was fucking amazed. When the Stalker came for my ass, I was scared. I remember farming for my skills, and having a metric shitload of Well of Life. I miss it, everything's so trivial in comparison.
I'm not gonna lie, when I first saw it on Raptr (back when it wasn't shit) the Braton looked stupid as fuck, and I never bothered trying it. My sister got into it and showed me, and I fell in love with it. I especially love the newer designs of Prime items, like Nekros Prime and his weird wings that I didn't like at first, but became my favorite part about him.
I've really being enjoying TERA, not even a pedo, I like the Popori and Baraka.
How's TORtanic nowadays?
last time i looked into TERA there was a fucking elin exclusive class coming out,
Also a fucking elin got better reach on skills than a fucking baraka.
Fucking pedos.
>Secret World for free Cthulhu/Illuminati
TSW is fucking awful and only the first area has any focus on Lovecraft bullshit. Cthulhu memers can fuck the right off.
It's solid. Problem is they really want that singleplayer audience and last "expansion", that took over half a year to be properly released in episodes, was entirely solo material. They forgot game was MMORPG.
> I can't even fathom how anyone could still be playing WoW after WotLK, everything is so slow and simple
You literally admit to not knowing shit about anything but still insist on trashtalking.
Elin have Ninja just added and had Reaver before that.
Female Humans have brawler and Female High Elves and Castanics have Gunner as their exclusive class.
But I like tanking with the little guy and like casting with the big hardo dudes so I have a Popori Warrior and a Baraka Mystic, it's a lot of fun
Not a bad thing from my point of view. Would you recommend dropping money on the game?
EVE is going semi-f2p in the near future.
It's extremely niche but if you like the way the game plays there's really no other alternative. Best sandbox mmo piled on top of of decade old outdated game mechanics and ui.
There are raid bosses in Legion that have literally 3-4 mechanics and thats it, everything else is a gear check.
I am really interested in FF XIV. Heard some ptretty good stuff about it too.
Its really not that great.
You can play through vanilla for free. It's limiting but you don't need anything to go through story modes. If you like what you see subscribe for a month to get bumped up to preferred status and get expansions for the price of sub.
I always wanted to like that game, but damn did combat feel dull and clunky.
There's a free trial, user. Try it. Many people can't stand the slow as fuck, GCD-centric combat and that should be considered before you buy.
Wait, I checked for this game, and on SE's website it costs around 40 bucks and on steam it's 10, and says it's subscription based? What exactly is it?
So just like it was in Vanilla, TBC and WotLK?
Only people who never got past the first zone clamor about MUH CTHULHU in TSW. It's a game about global conspiracies and mysteries that all happen to be real.
Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning.
Does it name (((them)))?
Is there an MMO that A. requires players to party up to get anything done, discouraging solo play a la FFXI, and B. has an active roleplaying community? No, I don't mean ERP.
>Vanilla wow tier raid boss
Do you actually say like it's a good thing?
I got fucking bored by the time I reached the end of Egypt and the ever expanding amount of expensive issues and Ultimate Collection lagging a lot behind (not to mention "p2w" sprint) just made it so much worse.
Tera.
Probably ragnarok. Go ask the tree of savior thread on vg if people RP in that.
>B. has an active roleplaying community?
LotRO still has a healthy RP scene, but it's entirely solo friendly. And, well, you kinda have to care about Middle-earth to get into it at this point.
I think it means in a sense they're simple and no-nonsense for a change.
would have been neat if they went through with it.
Still pretty fun if you find it cheap and want something "chill" for watching netflix or something else.
I really enjoy raising and breeding horses in Black Desert, and just running around killing things on my Valkyrie.
I have no clue what I'm doing though, I just farm, breed and stop by a few nodes to grind every now and then. But I enjoy it and it looks nice.
Other than that I play alot of "trash" korean games like Elsword, Dungeon Fighter Online, Herowarz and Kritika. And Warframe.
Just hop around to shit depending on what I feel like playing. Warframe and Herowarz are every day, though.

Okay, different person, 'new' to wow last xpac. I'll tell you how I feel about your game, and maybe you can avoid going defensive on me.
TL;DR: Wow is bad.
Pre-purchased legion, decided to get "prepared" in advance, got my raid moose, played my sub and bailed. Game just has not aged well. Blizz is afraid to adopt new ideas (like having complex rotations, or teleportation... Enjoy long, boring flights over pre-2000 graphics and fetch quests) and risk losing their player base.
Even finding the lore nice to catch up on (did like my WC3) the game just does not play well compared to modern mmos- or even older ones that retained personality and did not 'streamline' to where all classes are roughly equivalent in-spec and most rotations can be done one-handed, facing the other direction or stoned out of one's mind as long as you avoid the fire and follow the prompts your add-on gives you.
I might consider forgiving some of this given that I would love to play games with my fiancée again... But they're not only charging a monthly fee, they're charging for xpacs, too: for one of the oldest mmos on the market.
I gave it a fair shot, and even if it helps me get laid I can't bring myself to keep playing it.
No, it should be about stories that affects the world, not some random douchebag wannabe hero, the kings, armies, conquesting, shit coming and fucking everything up, fucking epic and heroic shit, not some random fag made to feel special
