No.
Nope, is pretty good for a f2p. I played it quite a bit considering
>Am I going to need to spend a shit load of cash to properly enjoy this game?
No, no amount of cash spent will help you enjoy this piece of shit.
Spend money on this game dude, is the best ARPG by far, Diablo 3 is shit...
One of the best games I've ever played. You don't need any money to enjoy it.
the only thing you should spend money on is stash tabs
handy to have but not essential
Okay, so there's cool armour in just the base game then? The prices on the micro transaction store are mind boggling.
Literally the best f2p model to date, you'll probably find your self wanting to support the game anyway.
the 'cool armour' is just a cosmetic skin you can put over any armour in the game
why do you say that?
sweet
Stash tabs are a necessity if you're a hoarder.
You'll be bored of the game long before you would want to spend cash on it.
no, but you need to be a huge jew and stand in town all day spamming wtb x wts y
I'm not OP, but what does this game have to offer in terms of end-game? I've never gotten that far into the game (I think the highest character I have is like lvl 15 or something) but it seems like most of the content is just following quest lines. When does the game change, if ever?
Arc was my favorite skill, is it still viable? I haven't played since Talisman.
The base game armor still looks pretty cool. And if you want, could just spend a very small amount like $5 and get skin transfers.
When you get to around level 68 it's advised you go into "Maps" which are items you place into a Map Device that spawns a randomly generated area that has a boss. The end-game is trying to get to higher and more difficult maps by getting, essentially, +1 and +2 maps within them.
No, PoE is one of the best free2play models. There's utterly no reason to use the Cash Shop at all. The most pay2win thing you could pick up was additional Inventory tabs, which you could legit just make a dummy second free account to packrat shit into if you felt like.
What you ARE going to have to spend a lot of is TIME. PoE is cater-made for an autistic NEET playerbase. A casual probably quits before they've even seen all of act 1, someone who gets sick and fucking tired of mapworks grinding burns out by like 80 or so, and then you have autismlords who grind to 100 just so they can farm drops to make a better min-maxed theorycrafted build that'll require another billion hours of GRINDAN to max out.
The only really useful thing from the store is an even bigger inventory.
But unless you have multiple characters, run a guild or are in the end game you won't really need that.
You will need stash tabs. They don't give you enough.
Also with the premium ones, you can dump items into them and they will be listed to sell.
Yeah the time aspect is why I quit this game. It's the best arpg on the market (and it's free) but it's a fucking time sink. If I didn't have to do anything else in my life I'd play poe.
No. But consider buying extra stash tabs when they are on sale. Not necessary though.
The game is so fucking good that I'd say the devs deserve it.
End game was updated in the latest update.
Is that only to get the best armour, kind of like in wow ? or is that just to beat the game
No. However the sheer quality of this game and the level of content it gives you for free will make you want to support it.
They're all cosmetics and have no significant impact on the game besides pretty effects and giving the devs funds to make more things for the game
well it's not easy to answer.
beating the game can have different meanings
if you want to see most of the story and play through one difficulty? probably like 6-8 hours for a new person to get through all acts on normal mode, maybe even longer.
getting to end game maps (where you grind for loot/exp) can take 15-20 hours to get there.
grinding for things like 'best armor' can take hundreds of hours, and even then you might still not ever find the highest tier gear. might probably have enough currency to trade for it, but then you have to engage with autismos overpricing everything.
Only if you are me and are trying to get the animal helmets from the new box.
>getting to end game maps (where you grind for loot/exp) can take 15-20 hours to get there.
For experienced players.
New ones will have quite a few failed builds before being able to get there.
oh fuck. for new players this game hits you with walls everywhere. there's mechanics ontop of mechanics ontop of mechanics that are not explained in game at all, actually nothing is explained in game.
i have friends that have hundreds of hours in this game and they don't even make their own passive trees. they look at a tree they want for a build and tweak it for themselves from there.
You start getting pretty cool armor around act 3 or something. That's when equipment stops looking like garbage. Leagues also get themed armor skins you can get by grinding league-specific cheevos. There was some wolf-barbarian armor a while back I really wanted to get, but I wasn't dedicated enough to get more than the boots and gloves.
Me and my friend always just play through the 3 difficulty settings and start over. There is no reason to farm maps or play any further, before new acts come out.
game is great for what it is, don't have to spend a dime.
the lack of trading interface is fucking awful though. so are maps. i sputtered out around 400 hours or so because the trading and the end-game maps system are so awful.
