How do you think gen 7 will affect the meta?
How do you think gen 7 will affect the meta?
It'll fuck it more
hopefully to the extent that it completely smashes it and the only way anyone can fight each other is with the same team for everyone.
Then everyone will realize how pointless the meta is.
Isn't that how it's been forever? The amount of viale pokemon has always been stupidly small, I don't know why anyone takes it seriously
The "meta" in pokemon is a joke. I hope they destroy it harder than when Smogon was forced to invent a tier for a single Pokemon because he was that ridiculous.
that's my point
no fun: the meta destroyed my interest in pokemon
Two words:
Mega Arceus.
Yes but if it's always been that way then it being shitty again doesn't stop anyone
>Neckbeards waste their mommy's hard earned money on the same repetive trash every year without fail just to play their pokemans "competitively"
I always ignored the meta because it's a joke, what the fuck did they do to warrant that?
THANK YOU GENIES
They wanted to add Gengar to that tier at one point, and Wobbuffet would probably follow if that happened.
removed a weakness to an already overpowered pokemon and STILL allow a mega-evolution just because.
Mega Rayquaza that evolves without any held item, has these stats and an ability that negates its flying-type weaknesses.
I don't play pokemon competitively. Can someone explain this meme?
Funny how 2016 meta was way diverse than 2015 for worlds. Nigga it's 2016, update your shit.
the genies are pretty much in everyone's team
The meta is so shit that everyone has the same team.
The Genies are good enough that all the top placing teams had them on their team.
Well that sucks. Aren't there like literally 700+ pokemon? How can that still be?
>700
Yeah, h-haha
It doesn't matter how many options there are when some are clearly better than others.
Quick post RPGs with good multiplayer
>bravest bird in almost all teams
Gale Wings really fucked the meta hard
Tapu Koko is gonna fuck this gen up if it gets Earthquake or Earth Power.
>Electric/Fairy/Ground coverage
>STAB and Terrain boosted Electric moves
>Immune to sleep as long as Electric Terrain is up
>Electric Surge and Surge Surfer in Doubles
How do nearly all of the people have 2 (two t w o) mega evolved pokemon?
I thought it only allowed you one, and that's not including the primals.
>someone fielded Mega Rayquaza and wasn't disqualifyed
wut?
Wasn't that thing banned in all rule sets? What changed to make it allowable?
Why isn't Rayquaza mega in all the teams
THANK YOU GENIES
I hope they give Mega Rayquaza a Mega.
they'll give Primal Groudon and Mega Fug Z attacks since it's legal to use 2 primals on the same team and they don't count as Megas
>Pokemon meta
Who cares?
Fuck Ulforceveedramon
>Wasn't that thing banned in all rule sets
You're thinking of Smogon tiers which are so much better than VGC rules, and smogon sucks dick. At least you see a little variety in the different tiers.
this makes me madder than I should be
THANK YOU GENIES
When you have a limit of 2 legendaries per team, you are better off picking something that is actually good, not something smogon cries about the most.
Mega Ray is much better in Singles than he is in Doubles
Z moves will just fuck it up even more
my favorite part of this list is how Cresselia doesn't count as a legendary
VGC rules are absolutely fantastic
It's hard to answer this question without knowing if -
1.Mega Evolutions are still part of the game
2.If Z Moves will be useable in online matches as well
Z moves can be big, the official description is "r, Z-Moves are considerably more powerful than any previously known Pokémon moves."
If we take that literally..we are looking at a move stronger than ever Explosion, maybe even 300 BP
Apply STAB and elemental weakness...and well, every Pokemon can have the means to OHKO the sweeper of the other team
I really hope that they will be in-game only, or else we are looking at a meta that people will just think of ways to counter Z moves (either mass Protect or revenge moves with Focus Sash)
Next VCGC will be 100% Alola born only, so hopefully the genies, primals, and who knows what won't be there.
good, hopefully no new Megastones are added or obtainable in the region as well.
I would take an equivalent to cancer washing machine meta over gen 6 mirror match meta
Explosion is a fringe case, and most moves at 150 BP and above have crippling side effects or very strict activation conditions. A 180 BP move with the type of your choice and without any penalties will already be plenty destructive, no need to go overboard.
I heard that there are absolutely no mega evolutions in Gen 7. As in, the in-game menu doesn't even have options for them.
Rayquaza gets own z-move.
>>I heard
That's great, but that doesn't mean shit user.
>didn't give Kyurem-W picture
Kek. But wow, those grass types.
Is there an image for this years VGC? Because it wasnt that bad this time.
THANK YOU GENIES
THANK YOU GENIES
That's because VGC and doubles are shit. Smogon is shit as well but at least it offers some variety outside of OU-tiers
Competitive Pokemon is a joke anyways. When using RNG is a legitimate strategy your meta is shit
That's because Z-moves are held items and take similar space and spot in menu.
Put two and two together.
Most likely won't be available during main game, maybe side quest search. Or have to trade them in.
in absolute (not relative) numbers, it's gotten bigger every gen.
Reminder that Mega Evolution was revealed in September leak of CoroCoro for the first time, two months before release
We are not at that point yet...!
Showing new Pokemon and Alolan forms are more important currently
Is that based on something, or are you just speculating. I hope it's true.
THANK YOU ROBIN WILLIAMS
VGC is always based on the pokemon you can catch without trading for the first year and non-alolan arent avaliable on gen VII.
basically the same except with a Shiny Jumpluff on each team
Competitive pokemon died in the fourth gen with the introduction of hidden abilities, when weather teams and speed boost Blaziken ruled leaderboards and Smogon said it was ok to use stuff like Latios in OU. It should stay dead.
wobb hasn't been close to ubers for a long time, this isn't gen 3 or 4
Can someone explain to me where this "Wobbufett is the strongest pokemon" meme come from?
>I wish for a meta with no dragons
>Competitive pokemon died in the fourth gen with the introduction of hidden abilities, when weather teams and speed boost Blaziken ruled leaderboards and Smogon said it was ok to use stuff like Latios in OU. It should stay dead.
that shit was 5th gen. you won't find many people defending gen 5 OU, it's up there with gen 2 as one of the worst
see first gen 6 VGC was Kalos born only
literally never heard of it
>megas are strong, so we're only allowing one per team
>BUT NOT PRIMALS FOR BOX LEGENDARIES THOSE AREN'T MEGAS
granted, now fairies are everywhere, at least two per team
>Wobbuffet is banned for two reasons. The first is that the generally accepted definition of a counter is that you can switch in a Pokemon and then defeat or scare off the enemy, and Wobbuffet prevents anything from switching in. The second is that Wobbuffet vs. Wobbuffet will not end if they are holding Leftovers, because Leftovers heals more than Wobbuffet can hit with Struggle. However, it can be a powerful Pokemon to set up a Belly Drum sweeper if you Encore a non-attacking move.
it's funny to read this justification now, because i don't feel like it would hold up by current smogon standards. (there are a lot of corner cases these days and you could just throw leftovers + wobb under endless battle clause)
In 3rd and 4th gen Wobba was able to defeat most sweepers or defensive walls because he could reflect their damage or out-stall them unless they had a status move, substitute, etc. His ability makes the opponent unable to switch pokemon so he was kind of a game breaker. The game is too bullshit now so he can't survive a fully boosted sweeper's attack and all defensive walls can out-sustain him.
Shadow Tag has always been and still is an Ubers-only ability everybody is butthurt about, nothing has changed since gen 3 other than Wobbuffet getting a hidden ability that let it play in trash tiers where it belongs without Shadow Tag.
each round of vgc is doubles with 4 pokemon per team. you (usually) only bring one of the megas each round.
(^:
It won't because Smogon will just ban everything that changes the meta. Like they always do. At most a single change of "You can use only these 2 SMOGON approved Z-Moves out of the 50 that were introduced because the rest are all too much fun"
This shit is why the Pokemon games have basically no appeal to me. The single-player content is so stupidly fucking easy that you can clear it with a single unevolved pokemon as long as it's level is decently high, but the multiplayer is so crammed full of min-maxing autists dickriding the metagame and abusing lame tactics that you have literally no chance unless you do the same thing. Not to mention that to even make a pokemon "competitive-ready" requires hours of RNG grinding bullshit to get perfect IVs/EVs and hidden abilities. Unless you are
I've never met a single person that actually liked the genies at all. By far the worst designs in the series
cool dude thanks for posting
>Shadow Tag has always been and still is an Ubers-only ability everybody is butthurt about
smogon's gone back and forth on this, it was allowed in gen 5 and used to be in gen 6
Nobody likes genies, but here we are where the meta is 1 or 2 genies per team, scizor and/or garchomp, clefairy and ferrothorn. Trade 1 genie for talonflame and lati@s or washing machine and there you have it. An OU team
Most people used to play on online simulators to not go through the hassle of grinding perfect pokemons and to avoid the horrible VGC rules, but that's gone too because the people managing the tiers keep fucking up harder every gen and gamefreak doesn't care or has no idea about balance.
That's basically what i mean, nobody likes them, they just need a tool to win with easily
...
I wish that all my favorite, underpowered mons get a new evo that makes them good
I like the idea behind their first forms and really dig the Therian forms from B/W2.
shadow tag wobb was not a good mon even before it got banned
For people who actually care about competitive pokemon, I doubt they actually like any pokemon beyond its ability to win matches.
The alt forms look even shittier
YOU FOOL
NOW THEY'LL BE USED ON EVERY SINGLE TEAM AND YOU'LL BE SEEN AS A META TRYHARD FOR USING THEM
AND YOU'LL GET SICK OF THEM FOR BEING SO COMMON
AND IT'LL BE A MEGA EVOLUTION THAT JUST COVERS THEM IN SPIKES
At least there are monotype events and stuff that changes the pace. But everybody picks flying JUST to use genies and barney. Or an all dragons team. Really annoying.
Personally I use Normal and Psychic monotypes for battlespot and regular play. No legendaries either.
I love those types of pokemon. Do I win every match? No, but beating an ""OU"" team or an all dragon team with them is really satisfying
I always figured as much, but if you have to use pokemon you hate to have a chance, why even bother playing? Pretty sure there are way better games to competitivefag in
That's a curse in disguise. I used Kangaskhan on my Monotype team since Gen V only to realize she'd have to get booted to Ubers.
Care to explain why?
>it's a Sup Forums talks about a subject they have zero clue as if they were extremely knowledgable thread
oh wait that's every thread
Just like what happened to my favourite Pogeymons Gengar and Rayquaza.
Now I can't use them in my team without everyone giving me looks that say "seriously nigga?"
If you don't like a pokemon, it doesn't mean you hate it. It's just a stat block that works.
>that one liligant
Is she good now?
>it's a smogonfags shit on vgc thread
At least play the meta before you start criticizing it.
>seriously implying Gengar and Rayquaza were ever bad
as opposed to /vp/ who take smogon tiers seriously?
>>/vp/28248729
>"competitive-ready" requires hours of RNG grinding bullshit to get perfect IVs/EVs and hidden abilities
I wonder when this meme will die
Maybe in Gen 7 with Hyper Training or something as long as Gold Bottle Caps will be easy to get
Like seriously now, I know that you are trolling, but I know for a fact that people are still thinking that it takes hours to get a Battle Ready Pokemon
It's just..not true anymore, ever since Gen VI where Destiny Knot pass 5 IV from the parents
Even without 6IV Ditto (or 4 IV Dittos which are easy to get thanks to XY Friend Safari) it's still easy
O Power level 3, Flame Body and Oval Charm and you are drowning with eggs
Everstone to give you the desired nature too, and it's locked to that nature 100%
EV training takes 10 minutes top thanks to Pokerus and Horde battles and the Power Items
A single horde can give you 50 out of the required 510 points
She's always had the ability to be a wrecking ball if she can get a chance to set up.
Inject it's ez as fuck.
