Does Demoman take skill?

Does Demoman take skill?

>not playing Demoman while drunk

I main engi, and I feel like I'm not really playing the game.

Whats a class that feels like you're actually playing? Spy's good fun and more involved, but meh.

Is Pyro good? My tactics with him usually revolve around igniting, puffing away and harassing with shotgun, unless I can actually get the kill.

It takes more skill than a spy and a lot less than a medic

Duuuude alcohol lmao

We just had this thread 2 days ago.

yes

guy with 200+ hours in every class here. Just play Soldier and Scout.

Soldier, he's easy.

>Is pyro good?
Pyro's arguably the worst class in the game. He has a heavy reliance on the puff n sting tactic, inconsistent flame range, and can easily be gunned down before you can even touch your opponents if they notice you. He can definitely wreck everyone's shit in a pubstomp session, but don't expect to get too far with him until he gets buffs.

Engie is fun, you just have to think about him a little differently.
You don't need level 3 sentries, a level 2 is good enough in most situations.
Keep a level 2 sentry up and make sure your dispenser and teleporters are level three.

Put the sentry in weird spot and move it every few kills, it will confuse the hell out of the enemy team, especially if you are rolling an agressive level 2 sentry on offence pushing a cart or something.

Your shotgun does a good amount of damage too if you can aim it.

learn to rocket jump properly and play stock rocket launcher + gunboats soldier (aka "roaming" soldier)

that is literally the only reason to play this game for me, and no other game will ever replace this feeling,

here is a good way
go as a random class
click random every time to die
if you get engi, then just click random again

>engi is fun
you literaly hold m1 while an aimbot instakills everyone for you

How do I git gud at rocket jumping?

>I have never played engie aggressively ever.

shoot rockets at feet

join jump servers
(such as RJump ECJ | Beginner [NY] -- steam://connect/74.91.123.146:27015)

until you can finish a few "beginner" maps, at the very least.

>no other game will ever replace this feeling,
Yeah, no other game, certainly not that whole genre about it right

>cancer soldier

Disgusting.

>i actualy never did because i fucking hate minisenteries
thats still an aimbot that does most of the work, though

The "feeling" of playing roaming soldier in tf2 is not just about using a rocket launcher in a video game to propel yourself, don't be retarded

Pipes do. Pipes probably have one of the highest skill ceilings in this game. Being able to reliably hit any class in the game with a pipe really sets you apart from other Demos.

Stickies don't. Almost anyone can sticky spam reliably and get damage out. As long as Demo is doing damage (not even necessarily killing), he's doing his job, and stickies make that job a joke.

>He's never taken a level 3 sentry on the offensive
>"I fucking hate minisentries"
>what is Rescue Ranger

You're a fucking moron if you think the Rescue Ranger isn't a good option for Offensive Engineer.

crouch + jump + shoot at your feet
Play some jump maps. Also if your fingers are getting fucked up consider rebinding crouch to shift if you haven't already.

Also does anyone have rocketjumping webms? I was going to post one but I can't find any of mine.

I did that once, seriously.
Back in 2011 I played competitive TF2 on ESEA and I mained demoman for my 6's team. We had a match scheduled on friday night and it was at around 3 am for me since I live in europe (I played in an american team).
That evening I went out in town to drink with some friends and when I came back home, I was a bit drunk BUT I could still play.
My team leader understood that I was drunk and thought it would be funny to let me play Demoman like that. But before the match even started, I grabbed a bottle of Jack Daniel's, drinked almost half of it right before the match starts and passed out.

Next morning I woke up with vomit around me, my computer screen was upside down, I got kicked from the server and my teammates recorded everything.

Good times.

TL;DR I played demoman drunk

>heavy reliance on the puff n sting
Poor guy doesn't even get to have that anymore.

As long as you aren't full Demoknight or using the quickiebomb launcher, yes.

Pills take major skill to direct hit with stock, stickies need to be used tactically, and his weapons with increased melee range are extremely useful versus enemy classes that rely on getting close to kill you.

In the hands of a good player with the Stock GL, Stock SL, and a increased range melee wep, he is unstoppable. Just like Soldier w/ the RL+Shotgun+Escape Plan.

It's even better for players that use the Reserve Shooter now. For everything else, it sucks schlong now.

The Reserve Shooter has even faster deploy time now than when it just had a switch speed buff, and it also has 4 shells instead of 3.

Engie is good fun friend, just stop turtling.
Pyro is an awful beginner class because it mostly reinforces blind W+M1 to people who don't know better.

Soldier is agreed by everyone to be best beginner with a low skill floor but high skill ceiling.

I'm not even talking about mini sentries, use the jag and keep moving a level 2 sentry up and gun down people with your shotgun who focus on the sentry over you.

...

That sounds fun and I want to try it right now

bind "mouse2" "+jump;+duck;+attack"

Pyro in itself is a very weird class. It's called an offense class, and its W+M1 tactics certainly give itself to it, but the few Pyro players I've found that I would actually call good would play in a much more supportive way.

You can't carry as a Pyro. At least not outside of the average public server. You have to understand that Pyro is a demoralizing class, much like a Sniper or Spy. Sniper makes you think twice before you decide to pop your head on the outside. Spy makes you have to constantly turn around and shoot teammates if he's doing a good job. Pyro makes you think twice before you decide to attempt any sort of push. Those few times I've played with good Pyro players and I'm a Medic or an offense class waiting to be ubered, it's a pain in the ass because you know the Uber is going to get airblasted, so you need to wait for someone to pick him off, except a Spy can't do it and a Sniper isn't going to have an easy job with the Pyro's mobility and how he's just going to hang back behind his team.

I think Pyro does have a spot in teams, but having one is more than enough. The problem with Pyro is, people misinterpret how the game has changed and still think being an offense class who throws himself at the enemy team is useful. It's not. And like I said, at the end of the day, you are still a support class whose impact in the game is only felt as long as you don't fuck up. And as a Pyro, it's very easy to get carried away and fuck up. Other classes have ways to damage control a fuck up, but Pyro doesn't if the enemy team is any good.

>Demoman
Yes, and damn effective when you know how to aim the grenade launcher and time your stickies.
>Demoknight
Press M2 while looking at an enemy.
Hit him until he dies.
Repeat.

It's tons of fun, and a level 2 sentry is very quick to get up, there is normally plenty of ammo laying around to replace it if it goes down too.

Also post texas man

demo and soldier should be in the top left corner

>Demo and Soldier
>Not effective
Are you ok, Engie main?

>That Jag buff
>That building speed buff
>That carrying building buff
>50 metal for Teli's
Despite Valve slowly ruining TF with dumb changes I do have to admit all this Engie love is real nice.

shit
my autism is showing
meant lower right

Spy should be all the way at the top but farther left.

He has the highest skill floor and ceiling yet is still not very effective.

I don't think so, hardest thing is directly hitting pipes.

You're playing engineer wrong. I don't main him but I have a great time playing him. Think of him as a slower scout who can place buildings. Put sentries in cheeky places and shotgun enemies down.

>this is what spy mains actually believe

there's only so much you can do as a spy most of the time you have to be out of sight pretty much

can't really say the skill ceiling is high because of that

>m1+m2
>skill

>sniper and demo
>top skill

...

*pounces on stickybomb launcher* hai x3

*glomps on mouse buttons, m2 swishing*
oops hehe

*notices skill floor* Whats this? OwO

>tfw when i have this

kill yourself

no videogames take skill

which is the better weapon at this time

stock pills or iron bomber?

>engineer not being effective or taking skill

Okay fatty. Good luck getting to the front lines without my teleporter.

>appending a tl;dr to a post, especially a non-op post
You honestly should just stay at reddit before this place consumes you.

>doesn't know how to rocket jump or play scout
>demo is so op omfg valve nerf pls

About 50/50
IB has slightly larger hitbox and is good on small maps
GL has slightly larger blast radius and is good on open maps

Good example is viaduct vs badlands

honestly that's how all weapons should be: equivalent sidegrades with different situational uses

shame there's to many flat out inferior weapons around
