>been here since 2007 >was here for the launch of the Wii U >bought a wii U at launch >no games >no games >constantl delays >prease understand prease understand >really great games started to finally flow in 2014, but the catalog was overall tiny compared to competition's systems >all of those NO LOOK WE HAVE THE MOST EXCLUSIVE GAMES of kiddy baby mario games and every single game that gets people talking doesnt appear on our console >no mention of a new zelda for almost the entire console's lifespan, literally every zelda game has either been an okay rerelease or a spinoff
Now I'm seeing you retards spinning up the wheels of hype again. You realize no matter what the NX is, its going to take a shitzillion years to put out good games on the fucking thing right? You're not gonna see games worth buying for 2-3 years. Why the fuck are you people getting hyped?
I didnt buy a Wii U until 2015 and I had 30+ games to choose from that were all good.
Faggot.
Brody Howard
I dont see any NX hype at all. Only concern and fear that nintendo will fuck it up a third time.
Jackson Barnes
I never buy consoles at launch People are hype because it's a new console
James Gonzalez
seconding this. everyone seems very tentative about this.
Jaxon Peterson
29 were VC games?
Chase Turner
You must be literally retarded to buy a console at launch but don't be surprised that lots of idiots on this board buy this thing at launch
Sebastian Cruz
This. I learned my lessom with the Wii.
Jace Carter
The only time i bought a console at launch was with the gamecube for melee. It is still arguably the best game of all time so i didnt regret it. The NX already has breath of the wild for release if it has just one more game like a main mario game for once or even mediocre stuff like pikmin 4, i will buy it at launch.
Jace Sullivan
buying a PS4 at launch worked out because it didn't get a price drop for 2 years
Adam Kelly
Fuck you, Sonygger.
Jacob Garcia
>been a Nintyfag since I was kid, buying the consoles at launch >buy WiiU at launch >Nintendo does nothing but spit in my face and bend me over
Who /notbuyingNX/ here
John Reyes
Wii U had Monster Hunter 3U, Pikmin 3 and Wonderful 101 during its first year. That alone is more games than I have for my PS4, which I bought near its launch
John Watson
Zelda is on Wii U familia and they said it's gonna be the same experience.
Sebastian Wood
I bought a Wii U at Walmart when they were having a sale. I got a deluxe edition for $250. This was right before Mario 3D world was released. I agree there are very few games on the system. I would be super pissed if i had paid $350 or whatever they were charging for it years ago.
Dominic King
I dont have a wii u lol
Thomas Morgan
>Buy a Wii U when W101 comes out + several other games >Buy more games I want as they come out >Own about 10-12 games in the end >Will buy an NX when a game I really want comes out for it along with several other games >Will probably wind up owning 10-12 games
Parker Sanchez
nx will be shit, just like the wii u is/has become.
Isaiah Martinez
I bought the Wii U in 2014 once the good games started coming in. Got about a dozen good games out of the system, so I'm happy with it.
Worried about what gimmick the NX might feature though, as Nintendo tries to replicate the Wii's success which won't happen.
Jayden Green
>own 40 games for the NES (i admit it was my uncles and he gave the whole collection to me but still) >own 30 games for the snes >own 20 games for the n64 >own 55 games for the gc >own 11 games for the wii >own 3 games for the wii u Nintendo needs 3rd party like they had with the gc.
Ayden Cook
All 3rd party games are on PC now anyway.
>own 55 games for the gc What is this madness
Gabriel Phillips
Since I have a good PC, Wii U has been by far the best console for me this generation
Dominic Bell
I'm still hoping the gimmick is it being able to play both console and handheld games, since that would be amazing.
Xavier Watson
>bought a Wii U after smash got announced in 2013 >lived with 2 roommates at the time >we all had a bunch of wiimotes so had plenty of stuff for multiplayer >friends come over >play game & wario and Nintendoland for literally forever >Wii U become life of the party >slowly but steadily single-player games come out for the Wii U >in the meanwhile, play multiplayer games with friends >Wii U continues to be life of the party after I move states >move back home until I get enough dosh to afford a downtown apartment
So far my Wii U has done exactly what I wanted it to, be fun online or off with friends. I played it regularly for like 3 years straight. Only real disappointment I had with it was Star Fox 0 which was a huge POS and made me understand Paper Mario fans' hatred of Miyamoto.
Josiah Wright
Yes they are on PC, but 3rd party games are 99% of the reason why the ps4 sold so much. I personally dont care if the NX has 3rd party, but it needs it. A console with Melee2/metroid/zelda + 3rd party like KH3/FF15/whatever would be just ideal.
Ayden Nguyen
That's most likely what it will be. Wii U controller that you can take along with you would be a very natural progression
Cooper Sanders
This
Jordan James
Everyone who wants to play multiplats already has a PS4/Xbone/PC. I honestly don't see why NX would need to have them
Juan Miller
Pretty much this but got it in 2014.
Literally have a massive fucking backlog because of how man good exlucsives there are. Also have the few wii u enhanced third party games like Batman City and Tekken Tag Two.
Ayden Sanchez
This. If there is any optimism at all it's cautious at best. Nintendo really has to knock it out of the park this time around.
Henry Watson
I can't speak for anyone else, but as the rumors -- however legitimate or credible they may or may not be -- have continued to coalesce around this handheld/hybrid idea, my hype for the system has completely evaporated.
In a way it's good, though. Nintendo isn't going to try to put out SNES 2.0 and I can stop looking for it.
Levi Young
>buy WiiU >have a blast with many games that got released for it >DK:TF >Mario Kart 8 >Pokken Tournament >SMB >Kirby >Rayman >Bayo >W101 >Splatoon >SM3DW >Star Fox Zero >SM Maker >Yoshi WW (Personal Favourite) >Pikmin 3 >Xenoblade >Monster Hunter >Shantae
I don't get it whenever people say that the Wii U has no good games. Opinions I guess.
Jace Torres
>the catalog was overall tiny compared to competition's systems >kiddy baby mario games
Shitpost detected, opinion discarded. PS4/Xbone don't have many more games than Wii U and their libraries are padded out with PS3/360 ports and rereleases. There are maybe 600 games for either available to actually buy, including indies, not much better than Wii U. For comparison the OG Xbox had more games in its four years than the Xbone will.
And they've been dangling Zelda in front of us for years, the fuck you getting "no mention of Zelda" from? It was first talked about in 2013, a year after the console released, for a 2015 release.
Joseph Reyes
Nintendo systems are always best to get when they are already done with.
Otherwise you just get long dry spells and disappointment.
Alexander Ross
>Nintendo systems That's not even true, every console this gen has been like this. >2 years in >PS4 and XBONE have literally no game >consoles with only one or two good games
Saying that it's limited to Nintendo is very unfair and far from truth.
Juan Roberts
The Xbone is also one of the reasons the PS4 sold so much. Microsoft shot themselves in the foot so hard with the launch of that console that they're still trying to recover with Phil Spencer.
Now that PS4 has most of the dudebros, their friends won't buy an Xbone unless most of their friends have one. And online multiplayer on the Wii U is a joke.
Logan Martinez
I hope it gets hacked It should be strong enough to emulate gamecube games
Jace Edwards
To be fair the only even remotely credible rumor is that EG leak and even that is murky at-best. We have no solid proof whatsoever. It'd make sense for a hybrid, but with a few exclusives named for the 3DS in 2017, I have a hard time believing Nintendo would support their old consoles. That's unlike them.
Nathaniel White
You get way more current third party releases on other systems, vs waiting for whatever first party game nintendo has you waiting for that anymore may or may not be disappointment.
So, yes, absolutely more true for nintendo systems.
Camden Wright
Well in regards to the software output since Nintendo doesn't have to put focus on 2 systems, and just shove all development on NX (though granted 3ds will still be supported for sometime) the potential for software draught will be lessened. Also hd pokemon among other things.
Jose Cruz
>buying any console at launch fucking lel desu, if you dont wait at least 2 years you are wasting money.
Landon Watson
But getting the same games the competition already has and that historically don't sell well on Nintendo's platforms in the first place won't really help. 3rd-parties need to make new software and not just do lazy ports of games people will just play on PS4, but they're not going to do that.
All they want to make are the generic, safe AAA blockbusters that don't sell well with Nintendo so until that changes Nintendo isn't going to see much 3rd-party support. No one wants to take any risks with software anymore. Nothing like Billy Hatcher or Lost Kingdoms for Wii U that might actually sell okay, publishers would rather fund their next big safe blockbuster instead.
Ubisoft summed up the problem perfectly when they basically said >Make games? Fuck you, buy the $300 system first, then we'll maybe release the games we already made before even thinking about making new ones!" It's the other way around, Ubishit, you make games people like so they'll want to buy them and the platform. Gee, you think maybe the Wii U would have sold a little better if you, oh, I don't know, made some fucking games for it instead of complaining about how too few people owned one when you're making Xbone games at the same time while it had a smaller install base?
Ayden Davis
>PS4, released 2013 >1194 games
>Xbox One, released 2013 >867 games
>Wii U, released 2012 >802
Stats say that you're factually wrong, it took them two years to catch up to the WiiU library, now the NX is being released.
Ayden Allen
It doesn't sell as well on nintendo systems because nintendo has literally been hamstringing them for a looooong time.
Either weak systems that don't have what devs want, shitty online experiences, or a refusal by nintendo to help promote third party software like sony and microsoft do.
When you spend as long as nintendo has pushing businesses away from you and focusing on a different market base, you reap what you sow.
I don't blame third parties for not putting large amounts of resources into nintendo exclusives when nintendo sees them more as competition than an asset.
Why assume monetary risk for the benefit of nintendo?
Justin Richardson
Different guy but the gamecube is legit the best console i've ever owned
Brandon Wood
I ended up trading my Wii U for a PS4 with some guy on a group (he didnt like it, and he is a nintendrone), currently having a blast with the Ni-Oh beta.
Samuel Lewis
All three consoles have too few games, even the original Xbox had more games in its first three years than Xbone does. Half of what we got for PS4 and Xbone until very, very recently have been ports and rereleases. So they both have fewer games than pretty much every one of their predecessors and a huge chunk of them aren't even new games to boot. 8th gen is just, by far, the worst console cycle ever. Fewer games and mountains or ports and old games we already played.
Ryan Jones
>You are wrong >Literally almost 50% more games on the ps4 in less time
>guy says that you get more third party releases on other systems
You literally just proved them right.
John Gutierrez
Get a nx at launch and dont update it, it will be easier to pirate games
Gavin Walker
Not really, half of the games are re-releases from the previous gen, how does that prove anything?
Lucas Nelson
Or just wait the three years it will take to figure out if the system was worth buying in the first place, and when piracy will be easier anyway.
Daniel Myers
>People exist that aren't excited to be able to play the entire Nintendo library on a single piece of hardware
If you want SNES 2.0 then this is literally as close as you can possibly get since it's basically guaranteed to sell because of Pokemon and Zelda alone, which means more games and all on 1 system. Kindly go climb a wall of dicks if your mind can't wrap around why this is the best possible course of action.
Benjamin Cruz
>the fuck you getting "no mention of Zelda" from? It was first talked about in 2013, a year after the console released, for a 2015 release.
Not the OP, just a buttblasted Zelda fan who wants to complain about the way Nintendo handled Zelda U.
>2012 >Wii U tech demos all over the place >Zelda is shown >"LOL guys it's just a tech demo. Don't worry about it, we'll get a real zelda in sometime" >2013 >No Zelda aside from Iwata saying "it'll be here at next year's E3" >2014 >Nintendo teases Zelda by showing that trailer >No release date or gameplay footage >ok, whatever, it'll come out next year >Fall, we see first gameplay footage >Aonuma says the game will be done next year >2015 >pre-E3 >Aonuma goes "WHOOPS LOL THE GAME ISN'T NEARLY READY, TIME TO DELAY, SORRY ABOUT PROMISING TO RELEASE IT THIS YEAR. NO ZELDA AT E3 EITHER BYE" >No mention of Zelda until the December direct where another teaser says it would be coming out in 2016. >2016, April >HEY GUYS WE DELAYED ZELDA AGAIN FOR THE NX AND WE STILL DON'T HAVE A RELEASE DATE
Nintendo handled the Zelda U development poorly as fuck. I know they had to deal with the Wii U being a failure and whatnot, but jesus, don't announce it that early if it's not fucking ready for another 3 years.
Aiden Davis
>Half are rereleases You know that's not true. Hyperbole just makes you look dumb as shit.
I'll probably won't buy one until Nioh and FFXV are out
Julian Edwards
Zelda games aren't even that good.
Noah Edwards
I'm inclined to disagree with you bud.
Cooper Cruz
XV looks like anus.
I dunno if I'd even want to take the time to pirate it when the inevitable PC release gets cracked.
Camden Sanders
yeah and every zelda game is a rerelease or a terrible warriors clone, fuck off
Austin Thomas
They are good. Not as good as the fanbase thinks they are.
It's always amusing when people act like zelda is some sort of pokemon style phenomenon and will sell millions and millions of systems.
Tyler Wright
>It doesn't sell as well on nintendo systems because nintendo has literally been hamstringing them for a looooong time. Can we drop this shit already? It's not 1992, that was literal decades ago and the franchises I'm talking about didn't even exist back then nor do the people that worked at these companies then likely work there now.
>weak hardware >different market base 3rd-parties had no problem supporting the Wii and DS, it was just largely with crap. Because that's what sold there. All they care about is selling copies, obviously, and since the console market is shrinking they're taking fewer risks. That means little beyond what they know will sell millions of copies, and that's your AAA blockbuster or your Skylanders that does actually release and sell well on Nintendo's platforms, including the original Wii. If anything weaker hardware is better for them if it still has the install base and audience they want, that means lower development costs. Look at mobile, lots of publishers are branching out because the development cost are next to nothing.
The problem is that these publishers got too big, they don't want to take any risks on smaller, niche games on platforms with smaller userbases anymore. Again the console market is shrinking, not growing, so they're trying to both stay as big as they are and make more and more money every year. They do this in part by not taking nearly as many risks with their games, they only make what is safe and almost guaranteed to return [X] amount of money. It has nothing to do with some 30 year old grudge, it's the state of the market right now. Fwer games are coming out for all platforms because publishers are blowing tens of millions on marketing and simply don't want to take any risks.
Lincoln Hall
I'm not sure you understood both posts you replied to.
Jaxson Hall
I'd send her to her room for being a spoiled little cunt. Then I'd fuck her mother in the pussy until we get a real son who can just fuck the sister and let me be alone until I die of alcohol poisoning.
Landon Rivera
There hasn't been a good one in awhile though. WW came out in 2002, and TP was a little bland, but was saved by Midna who was a best everything.
Jacob Rodriguez
>PS4, released 2013 >1194 games >Xbox One, released 2013 >867 games >Wii U, released 2012 >802 These totals include hundreds and hundreds of games that aren't released yet, you do realize this, right?
PS4 has maybe 700 games actually available to buy, less for the other platforms, obviously.
Logan Jenkins
Pokemon wasn't enough to save the 3DS from being significantly weaker than the DS in both sales and software.
Pokemon won't be enough to save this shit from being MUCH weaker than the 3DS.
Blake Edwards
This faggot already said they delayed NX to have a strong software lineup at launch and avoid droughts like the Wii U had
Adrian Bell
okay and
Jayden Watson
>It's not 1992 If you don't think this was the case for the wii and wii u you are delusional.
>The problem is that these publishers got too big, they don't want to take any risks on smaller, niche games on platforms with smaller userbases anymore.
They don't want to take risks that only stand to benefit nintendo more than them.
You are literally upset that developers don't want to risk themselves for a company that doesn't care about them.
They took risks on nintendo systems before. They didn't pay off. Like you said, their consumers only buy garbage third party games on those systems. If that's what their consumers want, that's what they get.
There's a reason everyone else but nintendo has a thriving third party relationship.
Jackson Robinson
I will buy the NX and get Zelda just to do bullshit like this.
Iwata said the same about the Wii U and the Wii and pretty much every console and it ended up a fucking lie.
Jason Ramirez
Phantom Hourglass sucked, Skyward Sword was terrible and I never played Spirit Tracks which I heard was decent or awful depending on your take of it.
ALBW was a huge step in the right direction even if it was a soft remake of LttP.
Asher Murphy
>30+
Yeah, right.
Evan Morales
>what is PR speak
Andrew Morgan
i forgot about this artist, she used to do so much good art of thicc girls back then.
Owen Morgan
Gaming in general is astronomically more competitive than ever before. Not only do you have mobile taking up a huge portion of the market share, but you also have PC gaming along with stuff like twitch and youtube eating up people's attention.
It's disingenuous to compare the current reality to one from 15 years ago. To say that X sold less than Y isn't giving you a clear picture of the market that now has magnitudes more options to choose from on the consumer end.
Luke Bailey
You're completely right in the reason behind the drop, but that doesn't change the fact another will follow. There is no reason to be excited for the NX, there is no reason to be excited for it after how both the 3DS and the Wii U ended up. A decent output and a terrible one being solidified doesn't guarantee success, it hints at a further drop because parents buying handhelds for kids will see an overly expensive handheld and console people will see a weak console and it'll appeal to no one except the ever-decreasing Nintendo core.
Grayson Flores
Am i just getting old and slow or do they keep shitting out consoles at increasing rates? Why would anyone bother developing for a console if its going to be deprecated faster than it takes to develop a game?
>console released, few games yet, few users >a year or so later, when the price dropped in half, and enough people bought it to make the potential market big eneough >just as one might consider porting a game to that console, everyone announces their next gen shit
Jordan Johnson
>There is no reason to be excited for the NX But I'm excited for it since I wanna play handheld and console games on the same thingy.
I'm sure there will be models for the people that want the standalone stuff too, but the deluxe version will probably be both in 1.
Joshua Green
Wii had tons of 3rd-party support, re-read what I typed.
>They don't want to take risks that only stand to benefit nintendo more than them. Yes, that's what I fucking said. The reason behind it, however, is the state the entire industry is in right now, not just because Nintendo made a boo-boo and hurt some feewings in the 1990's and all the publishers are still asspained about it.
AGAIN, fewer games are being made across ALL platforms, because publishers are clamping down. 7th gen was an unprecedented high, now we're coming down off of that into what will likely be the lowest-selling set of consoles since the PS1/N64/Saturn era. 5th gen sold roughly 140 million consoles, 6th gen close to 200 million and 7th gen moved over 260 million consoles. 8th gen will not come anywhere close to these totals.
Even though the Gamecube and Xbox sold like dogshit compared to the PS2, they got comparable/better software support than even Xbone and PS4 are getting now in terms of raw numbers. And I don't need to point out that the PS2 also had a literal mountain of games with well over 3,000 titles by the end. PS4 has maybe 700 games to buy right now, Xbone and Wii U somewhere between 400 and 600 each. OG Xbox ended its life with over 1,000 games, I doubt the Xbone will hit that number.
Publishers don't want to take risks anywhere, not just with Nintendo. Developments costs have gone up, marketing costs are astronomical, fewer consoles and games are being sold than even five years ago but publishers still need to have a bigger and better bottom line or they lose investors. This is a systemic problem that spans much of the industry, not just a problem for Nintendo.
Ryan Ross
>there is no reason to be excited for it after how both the 3DS and the Wii U ended up Hey the 3DS ended up pretty fucking well considering the handheld market these days
Eli Price
>it's gonna be the same experience kek yeah okay. Just like how the 3DS didn't phase out the DS and the Wii U had an amazing lineup of launch titles. Please don't take PR speak at face value.
AND also please don't try to talk someone into buying a Wii U. For Christ's sake, the NX will be backwards compatible anyway. All the good games will be on NX on release and NX will also get more games in the future while the Wii U collects dust. There is literally no reason to purchase a Wii U, you can safely skip it. Especially since its price has not been cut one cent yet.
Tyler Barnes
the last generation was the longest between releases in gaming history. The Wii U was the first to release 2012 which made the official gap between gens 6 years, which compared to the average of 4-5 years very impressive.
Juan Perez
How can you be sure?
Nintendo has proved over and over recently thye CAN and WILL ignore the obvious. How can anyone be sure about anything other than the fact that being wary of the mright now is the only logical feeling?
Grayson Mitchell
>90s I keep telling you that they were doing things THIS CENTURY that damaged third party relations.
Jesus christ. Stop trying to put words in my mouth.
Carter Richardson
>Mario Galaxy >Twilight Princess >Metroid Prime 3 >All in the first year >And then another game in each franchise later
Jordan Fisher
>30 games for the snes nobody cares about liars.
Connor Turner
whenever people tell me that the 3DS was a huge failure I like to point this out. Yeah, it didn't sell as much as the GBA or DS, but it was also competing with the solidified mobile market.
Evan Nelson
Back in the day there was a thing called mario games at launch, and you had a reason to buy at launch.
Bentley Gutierrez
That what every console maker says for every console launched. Xbone and PS4 were supposed to have 10 exclusive titles each during their launch year as well.
Luke Edwards
>buttmad that he bought a console at launch Hope you learned your lesson faggot. I bought mine new for 180€ last month.
Isaiah Cox
oh my
Tyler Ross
To be fair Wii U's launch sucked in part thanks to 3rd-parties. Nintendo intentionally held off because they thought they'd be getting support from 3rd-parties and then when it became apparent that wasn't happening all they had ready was NSMBU.
Rayman was supposed to be a huge launch exclusive but got delayed and wasn't exclusive, ME3 was $60 while 360 got the whole fucking trilogy for $40 at the same time, almost every 3rd-party port ran poorly and/or was missing content, like Sniper Elite 2, etc. The only good 3rd-party launch game that comes to mind is Deus Ex and it's still a rerelease of a game most people interested would have played already.
Hudson Nelson
>bought my Wii U and games used Only got 10 games, but it is bretty gud. Xenoblade was a big disappointment which I did not buy, which is a damn shame because Chronicles was great.
Nathaniel Gomez
>Wii U is overpriced and underpowered with a decent lineup of games >NX will be backwards compatible, so it can play those games but also won't be underpowered
I don't get it, why buy a Wii U at this point unless you get it for like $100? If you want to play its games just get the NX later. All your Wii U will do once NX comes out is act as a doorstop or a paperweight. All support will move to NX. Just wait for the NX and get the best of both worlds.
Colton Jackson
>NX will be backwards compatible It won't. You'll get ports. That's it.
Robert Rivera
Nintendo didn't hold off on releasing games. The games weren't done. The system software wasn't even finished and required updates to make it feature complete for months.
They rushed the system to market hoping to buy markets are with time.
Isaiah Torres
Also got my as the mario-maker bundle (not kidding) and I own 8 games and a lot of fun so far.
Parker Ross
Nintendo needs to drop the PowerPC architecture if they want new games with new engines running on the NX. BC for games no one bought that require an special controller at least to start them is not a good hardware choice for the NX
