My interpretation of 999 was much more consistent. Akane exists because you're going to beat the game and save her. It already happened. Akane knew she was saved by Junpei and she convinced Seven to lie about it so that Junpei would do what he had to do

999's puzzles were a lot more simplistic than VLR's
