Isn't it weird how the reload animation affects the whole feeling of a gun?
I mean it's not what you would expect really, as factors like recoil or fire rate are the ones who directly change the performance of a gun. But for me at least, the reload completely changes the entire feeling of a gun.
I was playing New Vegas and decided to mod the fuck out of it, I found some animation mods for guns, changing the idle, reload, even equip animations, and I came across this animation for the 10mm pistol and holy shit it changes everything for me, it's a completely new gun now with an actual good reload animation.
This one's a little bit glitchy but still way better and more satisfying than vanilla
Zachary Rodriguez
i fucking hate the front sight of the 10mm. it made the gun unusable.

what mods? i only have project nevada and some texture mods for npcs and the environment. can you recommend some good weapons and gun play mods.
Caleb Adams
only thing from making it great is theres no bullets in the new mag.

Ammo and condition check from Hitman 1st person weapon animations from Hitman Weapon animation replacer from Joefoxx for 3rd person animations And if you don't like Hitman's try Shiny Hax's animation release

>dropping the magazine again
Robert Young
Not as bad as the peep sight on the repeaters.
Jaxon Wright
Literally every single animation in every single game does that, I don't know what you're expecting
Bentley Allen
Are you doing this to help your dancing?
Connor White
Arma 3 has you put the mag back in your belt
Brody Torres
I would just think that if someone wanted to mod a good reload animation they would think about keeping the magazine in the animation
Easton Taylor
...
Luis Gomez
no, you're autistic.
Mason Martin
AMR is not bolt-operated tho
James Morris
Your pistol animation is not compatible with the ammo check mod
Charles Carter
Name of the mod? Or is it actually Broken Mod
Zachary Campbell
In New Vegas it is
Jaxson Perry
Ammo and Condition checking, works well for most guns unless you're using an animation it doesn't support
Cooper Hall
They're both from the same modder, he updated the pistol shit but didn't update the ammo check to match. Then stopped working on it, rip

Thanks.

Realistic games have your character store used mags back in your mag pouch if you haven't used all your rounds for it. Empty mags are stored in the mag dump pouch, a separate bag where you put the ones that, well, don't have ammo in them.
In a tactical pause/ammo check, you store your half-spent mags back in your pouch for later use, while reloading your gun with a fresh mag full of rounds. This is called tactical reloading.
In a combat situation, throwing your mag away while reloading is called an emergency reload, when you don't have time to store mags back in your pouch while in need of a fresh mag (a.k.a. getting fucking shot at). You can always go back and pick up discarded mags after you deal with the threat and clear the area.
Aiden Richardson
Thanks?
James Wood
thanks /k/
Brody Edwards
I wish that as your guns/energy weapons skill increased, the animations changed to reflect how good you are at handling weapons, culminating with 100 skill + rapid reload for Nero tier reloading.
the mag flipping on the OP feels like something a rookie wouldn't do.
Michael Reyes
How about a game with "dynamic reload" where the same gun has different animations that play so that you don't see the same one over and over
Aiden Thompson
no i disagree
Grayson Cook
>Slide not locking open once the last bullet was fired
into the trash it goes
Logan Baker
Holy shit Battlefield 1 looks like crap
Landon Rodriguez
>Tactical reload when out of combat >Emergency reload while being shot at, lose all the rounds in the mag and it drops on the ground until you pick it back up later
Would be pretty cool.
CoD Black Ops 2/3 does this somewhat, too, IIRC.
Nicholas Gutierrez
god damn it
Gavin Butler
How do you even know that there was no more bulelts in?
Owen Smith
...
Andrew Collins
it's funny how games from 10 years ago were doing that but now you never see it.
Dominic Sanchez
Damn you Bethesda, damn you
Christopher Ortiz
Because if there was a bullet left in it, there would be no reason to pull the slide back again once you reloaded. It would be wasting a bullet. Not to mention, there's no animation showing this.
So either way, it's garbage.
Jonathan Lewis
>those people are considered AAA devs
Aaron Wright
I know Advanced Warfare did it. You could reload a little faster at the cost of tossing away whatever's left in your current magazine.
What's wrong here? Even if it's a fictional gun, he's inserting rounds into the tube magazine through the port on the bottom, and the gun is ejecting used rounds from the port on the top. Shotguns work similarly, except the insertion port is under the receiver.

Count how many he shoots versus how many he reloads...
Kayden Bell
>gun holds 5 rounds >shoot once >reload 5 >end up with 5 rounds >this is fine
Juan Rodriguez
Playing vanilla FNV and going as a sneak crit pistol using Lucky and then Ranger Seqoiua and the animations are pretty good for them on vanilla.
Isaiah Brooks
The problem with it is that it was reloading like the gun was empty when only one round was fired.
Jeremiah Scott
>Tube magazine holds 5 rounds >Fires one round, rechambers >Reloads FIVE rounds, ammo counter goes up by ONE. >Rechambers AGAIN after reloading, ejecting an unfired round.
Jason Martinez
>looks at weapon >"yeah it's at exactly 31% durability"
Thomas White
>5 rounds in weapon >Shoot one round, eject one spent casing >Animation loads 5 rounds, even tho he fired one >After all that, he still ejects a spent casing after the reload animation
Carson White
Oh the ammo counter. Didn't see that. I thought we were talking about the reload animation.
Well, point taken. It's shit.
Asher Russell
...
Evan Davis
>>After all that, he still ejects a spent casing after the reload animation holy fuck, I had to check that again just to make sure they weren't this stupid
That's fucking ridiculous. What the fuck Bethesda...
Austin Ortiz
Still way better than vanilla dude, just saying
Jaxson Hall
The technology just isn't there to make proper reload animations.
Andrew Kelly
That pistol isn't so bad when it's cleaned up some.
Samuel Thompson
most of the time, when you shoot, you watch where the bullet will go the reloading is a resprite where you start to watch elsewhere and since you have an animation taking half of the screen, yes, it is important
Mason Flores
>guy realizes his mistake and recognizes it >dumb duckposter tries to falseflag it as bait

And yet Obsidian came pretty close with NV's shotguns.
Gavin Campbell
Literally what nigga, I hope you're memeing right now and I'm missing the joke
All they had to do was not animate that last part
How is that a "technological restraint"?
Charles Hall
I use that ENB, I doubt there is a better one IMO
Cameron Gomez
Well excuse me for thinking that it wasn't possible for someone to be that retarded. I assumed he was baiting.
Jack Roberts
Not him, but I scrutinised the animation the first time. It's easy to miss the ammo counter if you're expecting a terrible animation
Angel Rivera
thank you ill check those out next chance i get
Ethan Scott
I guess they were right. Sup Forums is full of idiots.
Michael Hill
they do. Bethesda is just lazy.
Ryan Clark
If we're just looking at the animation, My gripe is with the left handed ejection port again.
>B-But moving parts look cooler!
Grayson Anderson
>Look at the time. They are Americans. Sup Forums and Sup Forums drop down in quality, as soon as Americans start to show up.

who was right?

>racks the slide despite not firing the entire magazine, which is a worthless action due to there still being a round chambered
why do people like any of the 3d fallouts, they are gutter trash compared to 1 and 2. yes new vegas is better than FO3 but that doesn't mean it isn't shit.

FONV's stock animations are shit
btw
HOW DOES THIS CYCLE???
Juan Mitchell
>the reload animation is not realistic enough despite looking fine and smooth, therefore the whole game is complete shit
It indicates a lack of care, and generally that extends to the entire game. It's a small detail but one that the player will be seeing for most of the game.
Nicholas Perez
>expecting realism from fucking Fallout
>nitpicks other games >W-WHY ARE YOU NITPICKING NEW VEGAS AAAAAAA
btw how does this gun cycle?
Kevin Wilson
Wasn't there a mod or something that added a side charging handle to it?
Kayden Russell
>that shitty animation seam at the end
Alexander Morales
Well clearly the handle is not actually on the bolt but rather on the shroud around the bolt that kinda cycles back a bit, then releases the bolt itself, which cycles further into the stock.
Ayden Turner
>what was I doing again >oh right, reloading
Noah Bell
>nitpicks other games >W-WHY ARE YOU NITPICKING NEW VEGAS AAAAAAA >btw how does this gun cycle? i was joking. the 12.7mm pistol is loaded through the gun grip. The curved gun grip.
Isaiah Ross
well, i also think bloodlines is inferior to Redemption.
Different strokes, I suppose.
James Martin
I don't remember any shooter doing this but there are a couple of rpgs that did something like this.
The ones I can think of right now are Gothic 1 and 2 The Witcher 1 and Oblivion, you got cooler attack animations when you had higher skill.
Asher Long
I'm not even defending or nitpicking fallout. It's a shit game anyways.
>gun holds 8 rounds >fire one shot >cram a stripper clip with 9 rounds into the gun >still only 8 rounds in the gun REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Wyatt King
the charging handle is right here you fucking idiot
