BUY IT
Fire.
It seems fishy how for that cheap a price I can get an 8GB card but I'm thinking about it
>Not a 10XX
lol....
Can you please give a serious comment instead of a meme please
its 90 dollars overpriced
It's AMD.
>shit drivers
>games optimized for nvidia
>power consumption issues
>dead company
There's your catch
I've just bought one OP. Thinking I may have fucked up not getting a 1060 for the same price given better performance in benchmarks but fuck Nvidia's shady practices of retro actively crippling cards for planned obsolescence. Also the fact Gsync monitors are more expensive than freesync, which I wanted to buy at the same time.
Should be a decent card that lasts you a few years.
it might get better with age, 1060s will be gimped in a year
you have to undervolt it yourself
defaults are way too high and cause high temps + instability
>What's the catch
it's and AMD card
dude what. u can get a rx 470 aftermarket for $100 less. its only like 5 fps slower lol.
Even if they're gimped, they'll still be pumping out 1080p60hz Ultra.
The 1060 is the only card you should buy unless you're planning on buying a new monitor in the 2 years, or you were one of those idiots that bought a freesync monitor and are stuck using AMD cards.
Fuck you OP. I'm still waiting to order mine.
>Jumping from a 750 Ti to this
Gonna be great.
It's AMD
But is the card itself good?
I think there is a big difference between a 4gb card and 8gb card
Is this Fry's?
Fucking christ those niggers overprice shit to all hell
no its best buy
Hey I'm also using a 750 non Ti
Is this a good card to run nuDoom at max settings is what I care about
Wow you got it right!
Why haven't the 970 or 980ti dropped in price yet?
HEALP
ya i thought it was 4 gb. why is the 1060 only 3 gb lol
>power consumption issues
You mean the issue that was fixed in a driver update? Nvidiots really are desperate to have an AMD equivalent of 3.5GB, aren't they?
>But is the card itself good?
kind of, depends what your expectations are
it's 3-5% better than 390
7-10% worse in dx11 and 15% better in dx12/vulkan than 1060
I imagine 1060 costs about $350 in same store?
Don't impersonate me faggot. I'm patient
>8gb vram is better than 4
>on a mid range card
Well im telling you, you are dumb and it makes no difference at 1080p
Get a 1070 or 80 if your playing higher
well, considering games becoming hungrier and hungrier i'd take 8gb even for 2 year perspective
look at MD, things will get only worse
Yes it does, but it's only 3gb
What exactly makes it mid range excluding price? This is what I wanted to know from the start
any chance to weed out the idiots who have too much spending money I guess
This I barely go over 4gb in 4k
The catch is having a fine piece of technology crippled by absolutely incompetent support, think of a ferrari without gasoline
What catch?
It's ~250€ here for the non-custom version.
My 1060 is 6gb
not that it matters that much, there are a lot of other factors that determine performance besides VRAM
I mean just look at 390 vs 970 benchmarks. It's a toss up despite huge differences in vram
What do you mean catch? The catch is you're considering paying $310 (with tax) for a fucking 480. Literally why.
newegg.com
There, I just saved you $25, and that's still a bad price.
Fry's will price match any internet price. They'll also refund you the difference if the product you bought lowers in price from any retailer for either 30 or 60 days.
Do you mind explaining why it's overpriced? That's what I mean by catch
you mean around 5 dollars? 10$ cheaper minus 5 dollar shipping.
This issue has been fixed in drivers for a while now.
No it hasnt because its not a driver issue its a stock voltage issue which your dumb ass needs to set manually.
the MSI one is 279 on massdrop
And the stock voltage was corrected by default in a driver update.
Lmao software can control the voltage you retard
>hurr durr how does software work
dont buy reference card, get one with better power/cooling instead
Sapphire nitro+ for example
doesn't overclock well, especially on the reference.
