CRUSADER KINGS 2 THREAD

Had this thread before, was fun so lets do it again

What are you playing?
How do you like the new content?
What are your hopes for the future of CK2?

I played Charlemagne in the last thread, it ended by me getting fucked by my Pepin the Hunchback son, he led a revolt when i was not prepared and took over, it was seriously fucked, and that is how Charles the Great lost power of the empire of Francia

I'm waiting until CK2+ updates to continue, I haven't played since before Conclave.

Muslims are fun as fuck for some reason, invading germanic niggers and bringing them civilization is the way to go

Disease rate is too damn high.

How is the game post-Conclave?

Should I disable the DLC or give it a try?

FAST

Lol

Never forget

Eh, I personally don't enjoy going right into a big nation with conclave enabled, I usually play smaller nations nowadays, dont want to deal with the cancer that is the early game conclave shit

>elevate women's status so I can have them in my council
>seduce them all
I'm a champion of women's rights!

Haha that is some real dedication there mate

I post on the official forum every day asking when it'll be done.

Soon.

Is it really that bad? Does turning it down in the new options menu help?

they make sooo many popups.
>you got a cough
>doctor wants to try a cure
>you're well again
>praise doc for his work
>your relative has a cough
etc

Is Paradox really considering adding China in? I saw a couple of posts suggesting that in some threads but it sounds like shitposting to me.

They added India in so I can't see why they wouldn't consider adding china for more dlc bucks. Recent patch greatly improved performance, so what better way to shit up the game then y adding more shit to reduce performance again?

>shit up the game then y adding more shit to reduce performance again?
Normally, I'd be glad that a developer is still making DLC content available, just unplayable without having to actually buy the DLC. Not in this case though, I always hated how they forced pooinlooland into the game even if you disabled Rajas of India or never even bought it in the first place.

What would adding china even do?
I already feel like whats going on in india has minimal effect on the rest of the map, might as well have been its own game.

If they were going to add something new I think maybe being able to play as an unlanded noble could be fun.
Wander from court to court, be useful to your lord or start intrigues, join or assemble mercenaries etc.

Unlanded noble would be cool, and it would mean you wouldn't lose the game if you lost your last holding

What about trying to implement playable Theocracies and Republics?

Republics are playable

Only merchant republics are playable

Are there any other kinds?

>What are you playing?
Sultanate (now empire) of Rum. I'm currently mopping up the last few Byzantine holdout provinces after I took Constantinople
>How do you like the new content?
Its pretty good. I like how the Black Death actually matters now. Plus, often dying young makes it more challenging.
>What are your hopes for the future of CK2?
Don't add China, it'll be a fucking mess.

>this game has too much content

wew lad

Yes, like the republic of Florence or Denmark

It doesn't actually take much dedication.
Inviting high skilled single women to your court is real easy because nobody else uses them for anything.
Then you seduce them while they're in your court which is also fairly easy.
And then you can make them a loyalist councilor.

You need max women status laws though, or else you can only make relatives and landed women into councilors, though that can work out too if you have hot cousins.

Daily reminder, that if you aren't playing a catholic noble planning on becoming king of Jerusalem, you're objectively playing the game wrong.

Bloat doesn't necessarily equal content
Unless they make China different in some way it just adds more dumb shit to make save files even bigger and put more load on processors

>Muslims are fun as fuck

I'm planning on becoming King of the Franks and then King of Jerusalem. My son is married to the sister of the king, so my grandson will have a claim on the kingdom.

a weak claim though and in the meanwhile you don't exactly have the power to challenge the throne

vanilla ck2 feels really boring after playing gehmisnacht. This new performance is great since it means I can actually play for more than 2 generations in gehmisnacht.

That's why I'm going to get an alliance with the Holy Roman Emperor by marrying my grandson to the daughter/sister of the emperor.

you only get a non-agression pact, he actually has to agree to an alliance
which he won't necessarily do

...

Send a good Chancellor to improve relations there for a year and he will.

>Holy
>Roman
>Empire
lel enjoy your bloodline having the german autism

Rude

the most hilarious part is you actually do since half his conquests are in the kingdom of sicily

Since when could this happen?

Was really surprised I managed to live long enough to raise an heir.

For quite a while now. Maybe even pre-Conclave.

since like the game was released

Then I guess I forgot, since I usually played in the Old Gods start after it came out, and I don't think the Papal State owns Orvieto in that start date.

>no they own two more counties in the William the Conqueror start

Fuck

>want to try Ironman for once
>don't want to give up console commands for messing around in the late game or my crippling reliance on save scumming

this is unrelated, but how the hell do you find people to play with for multiplayer paradox games (i'm specifically thinking of hoi3)?

I'd like to buy this.
Which DLC is worth it ?

If you do want to give Paradox extra shekels Legacy of Rome, Old Gods, and Sons of Abraham, and maybe Sword of Islam are what'd I'd consider to be essential core DLCs. Everything else depends on if you're interested in the specific things they explore.

All of them, just pirate all of them
Buy the base game, pirate all DLC

I can do that?
Buying the base game and pirating the DLCs without being banned from VAC or something?

Yeah, Paradox games are notoriously lax on any form of DRM
Steam doesn't detect it either
The game is pretty barebones without the DLC, just get it all but make sure to disable Sunset Invasion

Yes, there used to be a mega link on /gsg/ with all the DLC and an activator but it was collateral damage during one of their recent shitpost feuds. You probably won't get VAC banned, some people have claimed Paradox revoked their CK2 license but I haven't seen solid proof.

there was some talk about paradox receiving data about CK2 on your machine and the dlc bought and installed, but HPM and his grandi youth made a command file to block the data being sent.

Last time I tried it, CK2 considered the DLC corrupt and wouldn't allow it.

How do I marry my sister?

Become Zoroastrian

whats wrong with sunset invasion?

tilde
marry_anyone

It's fun the first time. It wears off really fast though and you're better off disabling it in the options for most playthroughs.

>giant aztec invasion from the west
It's silly and ahistorical

It's alright, but i hate the counsel mechanics. Almost all my powerful vassals have shit skills, but i gotta have them on the counsel or they'll tear my kingdom apart.

I had the same thing happen to me.

>plague killed everybody
>exept me because i spend 20000 on hospitals
>I inherit hungary, the hre, portugal and my dynasty gets the byzantine empire, scotland and castille

I like it.

has that mod been updated recently? or is it still same face everywhere

>people doubted me

Who /ElderKings/ here?
One of the best mods I've played along with AGOT and Warhammer. Why are the mods for CK2 so good?

I don't think it's been updated at all since release. That screenshot is kind of old.

It's a pretty good platform, it's just a shame the actual devs are incompetent greedy jews.

>the first Carolingian king in a century is named Charles

>tfw playing as the D'hautvilles in the Kingdom of Sicily and end up with a harem filled with my 4 Cousin vassals

Its good to be the King

dying young? you can live forever now

Speaking of which how rare is the immortality event chain anyway?

>actually produce really good in depth strategy games
>most content made for the game thereafter have to be DLCs and many DLCs
It just has to come with a catch. Also the fact that there really isn't another company that can compete with Paradox's level in grand strategy games.

of course there's same face everywhere, it's anime styled

dont know ive started 4 guys got the chain 3 times before my cutom ruler died

Sweet Jesus this game is so beautiful with MiniSWMH and Lindbrooks Texture Map installed.

>Liberator of Mann

As in Isle of Fucking Mann? How the fuck did you manage that? Looks like I know what my next play through is going to be.

I don't mind DLC. Hell, I don't even mind paying for it. What I do mind, however, is paying far too much for DLC nobody asked for and which is of a lower quality than a lot of free mods, just so that I can play said mods without compatibility issues.

I can't grumble though, I've got over 1000 hours out of the game.

Are there any decent lewd mods?

I finally had a king make it to the age of 35. By then he had a peg leg, an eyepatch, a hook for a hand, and was a lunatic. He even got an event for a pet parrot. He was also a eunuch. Finally fucking died after passing an absurd law. His son is also an insane eunuch. Just waiting to lose all of my limbs now. Luckily they both managed to have a son before losing their dicks

user, are you telling me the game as-is isn't the lewdest shit imaginable?

I'll be honest with you, it's impossible for me to not get a raging boner whenever I'm shopping for a lovely wife for my young Emperor. Something about selecting a nubile young maiden from Scotland with the "fertile" trait (aka, big tits) and pumping her full of heirs just tickles me pink, and things get lewder when she grows into womanhood as a proper breeding sow continually spawning children.

Don't even get me started on concubines, ever get a Byzantine Emperor that's married to a young daughter of a concubine? Those brown-girls know how to have a good time.

he didn't manage anything, its a nickname given because that character was an ai rebel that successfully retook that county for his religion/culture

Don't forget--Lindbrook's Texture Map has several hidden optional files. You can turn the saturation up and the transparency down on the political map (or vice versa), or flatten the map.

>tfw I just had three successive Emperors of Italy produce heirs at the age of fifteen
It's all about that PTP, 'ttebayo.

I thought I was the only one who got turned on by wife-shopping.

>Sup Forums tells you "WAAAAH Cancer kills everyone!"

>My niggerian prince lives to 75 years while been a cancerous shitlord since birth
You guys are fucking retarted. Cancer made him stronger. He is now 77 years old AND his cancer was cured 2 years ago.

Cancer did kill the first son but that's it. I don't even have a hospital yet (I literally just found out how to build one) If I knew how to take a screenshot I would have done it to shove it down your faces that a nigger with cancer lived to death.

it's especially bad when playing the asoiaf mod for me, basically have a raging boner the whole time

Is there anything more boring than playing a tribe?

you literally can't do any feudalism and are stuck in tribalism for literal centuries.

My guy here actually BEAT cancer some 15 years down the line.

Due to having a good doctor, the character had only a fertility malus and ACTUAL BUFFS due to good treatment.

I get that it's silly, but it is funny to complain about it being ahistorical in a Paradox game.

>not disabling women's rights at the start of the game
Playing the game wrong.

The only thing that sucks about tribalism is the enforced gavelkind succession laws, otherwise I've found it pretty damn fun.

It's not hard to advance to feudalism anyway, all you've gotta do is conquer a feudal province and make it your capital, or upgrade to hillforts!

>tfw you survive the Black Death but your wife and children die

>stuck in tribalism for centuries

Get good, I started as Kiev and not only did I get out of tribalism I formed Ruthenia within the lifetime of my starting character

>tfw your pregnant lover wife is assassinated by a petty baron in your capital
>tfw wiping out the baron's *entire* family tree does not save your character from becoming depressed

Yeah same here. Filled with buffs. and even thought the fertility was supposedly low. I still had 8 children.

Cancer is good.
