Do a malware scan, OP. Something that isn't supposed to be on that thing has been chewing up space. It might detect other games, just remember that those aren't real games because the PS4 only has one game.

Sounds like your hard drive is dying. The space is probably decreasing because it's finding bad sectors that it can't write to.

I'm sick of this peasantry, I can't even download my updates anymore, but I do have free space, I can even download full games, how's that for logic.

I want to but I play all of those games, only ones that I'd consider are shitframe that I can't play because of serverside issues and now somehow I don't have free space to download the update.

first light wasn't DLC (standalone), and was imo a better game than second son albeit short (but that's probably good, ends before it gets boring while second son just has you repeat stuff until you're sick of it)

Is it bad that I only found out that disc-based games still take up hard drive space a few months ago? I never knew they just background installed while you were playing until I rand out of space and had to figure out why.

I'm pretty sure Witcher patches are something like 20gb. Just buy a new hard drive. The installation is very simple.

Sorry I only realised what I typed after posting it, I meant stretchy objects/people, IMO finding character from dying light in other games would be the lamest shit ever, I never met so much annoying/ non interesting characters in any game until dying light came along, the people in that game think I owe them something and always belittle the player, they devs really expected the player to care for those shit heads?

I kinda wonder what is even the point of disc-based games anymore unless you're planning on reselling/trading.

Usually won't work right without the day 1 patch so you're still tied to downloading stuff from servers, and have to install 90% of the data all while forcing you to keep the disc in / swap whenever you want to play.

And receiving or going out to get the physical copy usually take longer than downloading 50GB nowadays (not to mention PS4 usually let you start playing around 2-10GB downloaded depending on the game).

If you want to keep all your old installs you'll need a 500gb HDD to back it up to. If you don't care about having to-redownload it all don't bother with it.

Your profile and save games is saved on a server. You'll need a 4gb USB stick to download the OS off of Sony's website.

I still prefer discs because some games still come with nice packaging, but also internet speeds and data caps in Canada are horrendous so a digital-only console doesn't really work for us yet.

Get a USB hard drive to back up your stuff and then get a 4tb hd and replace the default one buy a shell to stick over it it'll look like a tumor but you'll have a better hard drive and tons more space. Your default drive is dying just as you said your ps4 is fine its just your drive will shit out soon and anyone you bring it too will cheat you on a "fix". Tldr Buy a new hard drive and backup your shit asap.
