fucking cave story, man

>game is nothing but the difficulty spikes
>can't even finish the story and get to the post game

>game suddenly has a massive difficulty spike out of nowhere

EO series and Dungeon Traveler's 2.

>accidentally encounter the secret optional boss before fighting the final boss

>Symphony of the Night
Kind of. Then the difficulty becomes non-existent just as fast as it spiked.

>Accidently encounter
>a secret boss

Name three times this has happened

>one of the strongest bosses in the game is a random encounter
>you encounter it

>Game is actually really hard at the start but lightens up as you play.

...

>it's the only part of the game that's challenging

>FFIX
>FFX
>Dead Rising 2

>Bonus Mode

>enemies have double HP
Fine.
>way more enemies per stage
Fine.
>you have an AI partner to help
>getting hit by partner causes no damage, but stuns you for a second
>in a time-based arcade game
>and all of her attacks have at least some element of AoE
FUCKING. REE.

How is the Vita/PS4 version? I've been playing the shit out of it on PC, but I just noticed Vita/PS4 version has extra content. Worth picking it up again?

Coffee or Candy?

Cowfee.

>competitive game
>teammate quits/dc's
>brain dead bot takes over them

>game is ass clenchingly hard until you acquire that one weapon/skill that breaks the whole game

You asked for it.

The whole chapter is a basically a boss challenge. Although this particular group was the most bullshit, yeah.

Qada can fuck right off.

While it was never ass-clenchingly hard, Samurai Warriors 4 has a skill randomly on weapons called "Stimulus" which puts you into ulta super mega overpowered ridiculous mode, usually difficult to get off more than a couple of times for a few seconds every mission, every time you level up - even if you're at max level. It's entirely possible to level up multiple times during this mode thereby extending it forever and making it possible for a(n initially) level 1 character to beat the hardest mission on the hardest difficulty with almost no effort.

...

fucking Tekken 6 scenario mode, i swear

Shin Megami Tensei series mostly

>Beat game
>Get to post-game dungeon and breeze through it
>Get to optional boss and it wipes my entire party before I can even act, forcing me to just mindlessly grind to lv99 to stand a fucking chance

Fuck this guy in SMT IV, I´m finishing neutral ending and his sidequest is the only one I can´t complete

I want to impregnate Hotaru

what games let me do this

Dreams.

I remember playing the original game back in 2006 in middle school and encountered this guy in the Echo Building.

He blew my ass up and I was wondering what the fuck was going on.

Don't know about other games, but I found Dark Aeons and got my ass kicked in FFX.

AA2 with mods

Final Fantasy 7
I just wanted to explore with the submarine, not get my ass ripped six ways from Sunday.

>FFX
>FFIX
what bosses are those?

Fuck this fight. pretty much had to cheese it with the scientist class ability which makes your party invulnerable.

Shit is impossible otherwise

Disgaea 4 does this

i can't beat hell

More Hotaru please.

Kingdom hearts 1 has 3 secret bosses i did that too.

I remember there being an optional book boss when you return to Alexandria in FFIX

>only appears on a certain tile at a specific part of the day
>still find it by accident

...

>game starts out as silly b movie and gets hard later on

>game starts off difficult
>by the end it's piss easy

...

...

>that ending

>game

>the game of life

Prinny 2. Shame you had to go 100% mode to unlock it though.

This is the number one reason why I drop a game.

...

>Life

>Game has random encounters
>Game allows you to set every character to AI controlled
>Just tape the sticks on the controller down and gain levels in the game while you do something else
>Game is coded to notice this and have the secret boss come and absolutely destroy you

Gween tea.

What happened to her arm?

I want to feed Hotaru with sweets!

Too much candy.

Why not both?

Diabetes

every disgaea game

...

...

>Difficulty spike during the climax of the game

is bravely default worth playing? the art kinda puts me off a bit but if the gameplay is good i'd still play it.

...

This happens in Darkest Dungeon all the time.

...

The first quarter of the game is universally considered to be great if you're a fan of classic Final Fantasy, everything after that is highly divisive due to being a time loop

OH NO NIGHTMARE HAS RETURNED

KIRBY MUST SAVE THE DAY YET AGAIN

Fucking Collector I swear to God, every time before the boss room.

The first half of the game is pretty much a very classic and, quite engaging traditional style RPG.

The game's second half of the story and dialogue turns to shit, but then the gameplay shoots to the sky. The battles begin to skyrocket in difficulty suddenly and you often have to train and mix up your team in unique combinations for each fight. It's an intense experience if you enjoy overcoming challenges in turn-based combat.

If you don't enjoy that rush, however, then you won't enjoy Bravely Default.

If I were to compare it to another well-known game, I'd compare it to Pokemon Emerald. Before you beat the game it's an above average RPG. After you beat the game and get to the Frontier, the story is gone and is instead replaced by an insanely difficult yet thrilling set of challenges.

both Xcom

Dark Aeons mang

is this from a doujin or just a stand alone colored image?
i'm going through the booru's now collecting pictures.

Why can't you fucking faggots talk about anime where it belongs? Or at least start your videogames thread with a picture of, you know, videogames?

exhentai.org/g/928259/4ee0a0f620/

...

thanks mang

what are those jap snacks that look like a single giant cheeto puff

Good enough.

>game's extra boss become's the game's defining character

>game's extra boss becomes secondary bait

>Extra boss becomes a traditional boss that's fought in every game.

Goddamn

...

>ffxii
>yfw encountering the lvl99 red chocobo

Yeah that shits unreal. Although Yiazmat is a harder and longer fight by 100 fold, at least you come prepared for it. You can be ambushed by a level 99 red chocobo even early game.

>game is cool, creative, has a good story
>consistently too difficult for me to have fun

First time playing Dark Souls and getting the DLC area:
>mfw hyper aggressive boss within a minute of arriving

>game gets a massive difficulty spike at the final boss
>fight two bosses in a row without healing
>first boss hs a barrier that you have to take down with heavy damage before you deal any damage to his real health
>amount of heavy attacks is extremely limited

Gotta say, once you beat the Sacred Grounds, you feel pretty good.
Accomplished, really.
None of you used the Life Pot before getting to Ballos, right? If you did, good luck, you'll need it.
I played several Cave Story mods after beating the original, ones like Jenka's Nightmare, WTF Story, Mimiga Army and 4th Ending Mod.
The first three I mentioned are quite a bit harder than the original, but that's due to not being able to get through certain areas first-time, since there are stupid traps or poor map design you have to bear with.

...

This is why I never finished NFS: Carbon.

Or maybe I'm just awful.

>due to that, the amount of fanworks it recieves skyrockets
>meanwhile unimportant pieces of shit like clownshit get only a few pieces of porn and MUH MUHRICA meems
feels good

>he doesn't love America

only play the first half
when they start time looping just stop playing the game everything goes to shit after that
like how every party member start acting even more stupid and only talks about food
