Will it actually be fun or just another soulless nostalgia grab?
Will it actually be fun or just another soulless nostalgia grab?

nigger shill
What
It can be both.
Both
It can't be fun if it's soulless
dont pay attention to retards they dont know what the fuck they are doing themselves
It'll be fun you faggot
Whether or not it will be fun to play can't be said now, but it will be far from soulless. This was obviously a huge passion project for these ex-Rare employees. Something they really wanted to do, and still would have done so regardless of the kickstarter. They by far the most passionate and experienced kickstarter dev team from the major ones we've seen, and the only ones I trust with my money.
>and the only ones I trust with my money.
You're still saying that after all the delays? Interesting.
fpbp
Not him but have you seen the toybox? Sure it has super placeholder textures and geometry, but the controls and core gameplay are there. It was pretty good.
So even with delays I don't care since the game is shaping up nicely and the devs post some videos now and then of the more finished areas.
At least it won't go the same way Mno9 did, with a fuckton of delays to deliver a subpar product.
It looks so cheap though
This game has been in development for way too long. I'm not optimistic.
It's only been like a year.
A year? More like three.
After the one "delay"?
They had a broad speculation but no confirmation and hinted many many times that it would be later than initially anticipated, and It's not going to happen again.
The Kickstarter was about 18 months ago....
Why are the people that WANT this game to fail? This isn't Con-Man or Mr. Shitface...
What the hell are you talking about?
Really? Because to me it look like a lazy nostalgia cash grab.
This
Old players who played ye olde collectathons will find it lackluster.
Young players new to vidya will find it amazing, fun and colorful.
Is this bait or are you underage and don't understand Golden Era Rareware?
see you in three days lol
That's becuase it's catering to nostalgiafags
The original Banjo Kazooie also had delays :^)
lmao how long do you think videogame development takes?
A couple of months. Sometimes half a year. Unless it's Duke Nukem Forever, but that was shit anyway.
Okay enough kickstarter bullshit.
What do you want to see in Yooka-Laylee?
>Levels
So far the two worlds shown seem really great, but I'm hoping for some of the other ones to be higher concept, like WithyWorld or Click Clock Wood.
>Transformations
Love that we're getting another vehicle one. I want to see something really versatile like the bee, vs something context sensitive like the Stony or Pumpkin.
>A couple months
Have you ever made a game?
What I meant was. It doesn't look like they are even trying to be creative with it. Just looking at what the games of that era did and copying it.
Nothing inherently wrong with that. Pillars of Eternity did the same and it was great and Dreamfall Chapters did the opposite and it was unplayable, for example.
But, to me it just doesn't speak of passion as much as nostalgia.
>A couple of months
I don't think anyone understands the logic behind dreamfall chapters
I think the standard is around 2 years for a more simpler AAA game(IE not an MMO).
Not counting the planning phrase of course.
It's not copying if it's the same people just doing what they did before. It's a spiritual successor, they would just bake a new Banjo-Kazooie game if Microsoft didn't own it, so they did this instead. Not to mention they are adding World expansion, RPG-like modifier elements, and a lot of new things that separates and elevates this game.
When is this game coming out?
>A couple of months.
>It's not copying if it's the same people just doing what they did before
It kinda is. But fair enough
Spring 2017, I'd guess April or May.
Did you come here via time machine from the late 80's or something?
From what I've played it's pretty fun.
a fun nostalgia grab
>A couple of months
