WoW vs FFXIV

I've never played either at all, and really feel the urge to mmo? Your opinions on which one a new player should go to? Which is "better" for a proper mmo experience rather than just end game....

WoW. Legion just dropped and is pretty good so far, and FF14 is just a Jap bootleg of WoW. Play the real deal instead.

But WoW there's so much content that its overwhelming, and fuck all players are going through the earlier dlc and base game apparently :/ so i don't want tobe playing an mmo on my own for the first 90 levels -.-

sure, once you hit 110 you can level an alt and there will probably be more people doing the old content again

ffxiv is better

XIV offers a fun experience for 2 months because of its story and diversity, but offers no real replayability whatsoever and the game has next to none customization besides when it comes to how you look. Everyone wears the same equipment, the stats are not interesting and bland and the engine itself is extremely unresponsive.

WoW is a 10+ year old game that has gotten a fuckload of content since then, and has gotten what is arguably the best expansion in 8 years. It looks somewhat dated but it's still enjoyable when it comes to gameplay, class identity and diversity, and customization, as it has actual interesting stats, effects, active skills and a wide array of replayable content that changes each time.

Play WoW if you enjoy playing things for a long time as it's the best of the two, by far.

Play XIV if you want to play a game for its story and drop it a couple of months in. By no means i mean WoW's story is bad, by the way.

Yeah probably. The leveling process is stale, the core game is once you hit max level. Just get on and play, you'll figure things out as you go.

Legions story (so far) is so boring. A farcry from Warcraft 3 days. How does FFXIV story hold up? Heard it was bretty good.

As long as you're not a complete retard you will probably be fine. Learn how to play your class (icy-veins.com) and get addons like deadlybossmods that will aid you in boss fights and dungeons and shit. WoW has been casualized to hell, it's not that hard of a game anymore.

WoW is the game that all other semi-successful MMOs are based off of. It reinvents its class variety and raid mechanics every couple of years to make it feel 'fresh'. It also has decent end-game content unless you're the type of person that likes to chew through the hardest difficulties of raiding ASAP.

FFXIV is a LOT like WoW with some improvements. Crafting is much more involved and the skill ceiling is higher across all content, but the game requires a large time commitment. The grind is very real and there isn't any decent way to level alt jobs unless you bot.

ffxiv is weeb bullshit with the worst engine and combat system i've ever seen in any game ever. unless you're one of those permavirgin waifu weeaboo faggots, stay the fuck away. wow is the least bad out of them all, and they've made it very easy to get into as a newbie
