>Starcraft and Broodware build up Kerrigan as the main villain >Raynor vows revenge >All this sets up a final confrontation between them, with only one surviving, and no chance of reconcilliation >SC2 plays out their relationship like some love story >ends with kerrigan restored to humanity, and her meeting Raynor in a bar
Is there a sequel more bungled with more of a mess of a story than SC2?
Ethan Gonzalez
What the hell happened to Blizzard's writers? Their stories used to be so much better.
Christian Phillips
> Broodware
Austin Reyes
>complaining about one typo
Adam Wilson
I think they fucked up in BW actually. It's obvious she was brainwashed there, why would Raynor go from loving her to wanting her dead just because she killed his friend while being controlled by some interstellar megamind? Obviously the change from "I'm going to kill you" to "I love you so much please become human again" between BW and SC2 is a big problem, but actually it's BW that is fucked up story- and character-wise.
Cameron Ortiz
>zerg are all weird bug monsters >she looks like a human and not a 'orrible bug monster I've never played starcraft Please explain this I know she was once a human but still
Leo Cook
She isn't brainwashed. She's changed. She has full independence and can do whatever she wants. She's just a bitch then.
Having her be cured is a total cop out to the conflict.
One or both of them should die.
Robert Morales
The Zerg decide to enhance themselves by taking humans, corrupting them and turning them into Generals. They do this to Kerrigan and a few others.
Jack Richardson
The overmind was dead. The point was that she was still Queen bitch of the galaxy after being freed.
Aiden Cooper
The overmind died retard
Easton Myers
see diablo3: blizzard doesn't give a shit about writing. they're making blockbuster games for the lowest common denominator.
Ian Russell
She was controlled by the dark one, retards.
Jacob Butler
Nope. That didn't exist until sc2 so they can make kerrigan a sympathetic character.
Overmind is dead. The zerg don't have a leader, except for Kerrigan who becomes the Queen by taking everyone, zerg, humans, protoss, out. She was the most badass, powerful character in the series and they turn her into a stupid puppet.
Connor Robinson
Amon was only partially freed and able to directly influence things after Kerrigan had her energy stolen in Wings of Liberty.
Jason Myers
A zerg with a fine ass and tits and heels, AND HEELS.
Jaxon Lee
Guys
I got an idea guys
Lets have the shapeshifting evil mastermind come back
And just change his name to be a reversed spelling of his previous name from his previous form
Guys trust me it will be a huge twist
Guys
Jacob Cox
Dont worry theyll retcon it in the sc1 remake
Isaiah White
I was so fucking upset with SC2 when I first got it and the story unfolded What a fucking disgrace >last time Raynor and Kerrigan meet is when she kills Fenix and Duke >"it won't be today, it won't be tomorrow, but I will be the one to kill you Kerrigan" Amazing, perfect set-up for a fucking sequel >SC2 goes full fucking Hollywood with a stupid fuckign nonsensical lovestory >Raynor has a picture of her that he looks at and remarks, what happened to you Kerrigan, I miss you God I was so fucking mad. Way to ruin fucking everything
That said, the campaign is fun in the games but you just have to learn to ignore the story
Josiah Morris
>insectoid race with biological/genetic technology >hivemind Why can't there be a biotech-based civilization that's not a hivemind?
Asher Torres
She was controlled when she was human too, retard. Once the over mind was dead she was finally truly free.
Connor Peterson
Fap material
Austin Murphy
>literal deus ex machina It's the oldest shittiest writing trope in existence.
Robert Gomez
They have varying degrees of independence based on caste, but why wouldn't they be a hive mind? Choice is individualistic and inefficient. It's the opposite of an advanced tech macroorganism.
Aiden Carter
Only Cerebrates and the Over mind were sentient though right? The other zerg are just animals that do whatever their commanders say.
Connor Reed
Does the UED show up in 2?
It's strongly implied in BW that the UED is by far the biggest faction out there. Would have loved to see Earth get fucked up by the Zerg.
Carter Stewart
The cerebrates were sentient but they were still slaves to the Overmind and did whatever it said.
Gabriel Cook
Sentient, but unable to break the Overmind's will. I think from the cut scenes and lore you can tell that the individual zerg units act like animals called by a master, with some narrow agency but respondent to the hive mind will.
Justin Evans
It took them forever just to get there from Earth and then they all got overrun and killed by the Zerg. I'm not sure why the fuck you'd send more people out to some far reaches of space to get slaughtered.
Isaiah Murphy
>All this sets up a final confrontation between them, with only one surviving, and no chance of reconcilliation No it doesn´t. The very last thing you read in broodwar even says that kerrigan ISN´T the big bad in any way, and that something worse looms.
Don´t mix your personal romantics into what SC promised.
Logan Morales
The overmind is not a single individual, the overmind is literally the mind all zerg possess, to a certain degree; it doesn´t even exist in a single body until it manifests on aiur.
Whatever the overmind wants is ingrained into all its servants, kerrigan included.
Mason Morgan
the lotv ending was so fucking corny with her acsension hahahahahhahaha holy fuck
Camden Myers
WoW was the first step in a downward spiral.
Robert Perry
I haven't even played it and reading that makes me realize I made the right choice Sure the campaign was fun though
Andrew Roberts
Zerg can "infest" other species, except the protoss motherfuckers, because they just can't.
Nicholas Gomez
I liked in the second one when she just immediately went >screw this noise, I was fucking Queen of the Zerg, brb, getting reassimilated Then the rest of the story completely failed to capitalize again and spun it into more melodrama love story bullshit. But I did love that specific story beat.
>with her acsension I'm glad I didn't play that.
Ayden Jackson
I mean you're not wrong... but I feel Metzen pushed the dumbass love story / becoming a god angle because he "wants to make happy endings"
Tyler Myers
>Is there a sequel more bungled with more of a mess of a story than SC2?
I been thinking for a long time and couldn't come up with a worse example. SC2 plot is just pants-on-head retarded. And what you said in the OP is one of the LESS retarded stuff in the whole game.
Eli Jackson
Well, the cerebrates clearly had personalities and agendas, they just couldn't do much under the Overmind's watch.
The whole sc2 zerg campaign should have been about fighting old cerebrates instead of magical redeeming bullshit.
Henry Kelly
Shuuut uuup! what just because she wasn't the big bad that means she has to become a fucking care bear? In that case, why whack Mengsk? Why not turn him into a teletubbie? Dude cut the bullshit, the same way even though Mengsk wasnt the main baddie he was supposed to go down, Kerrigan should have continued to be the same queen bitch of the galaxy she was in broodwar and eventually gotten whacked by Raynor. It seriously reminds me of shonen animuh bullshit: baddie comes along, kills a whole bunch of people, confrontation with the protagonist ensues, "I dont wanna be a baddie animore, let's be friends" "ok! lets join forces and fight the other baddie" "ok!"
