It will make them money, and with that money they will make amazing games just like they always have. There is nothing to defend, because there is no cause for alarm.

I'm a Nintendo fan and I don't support it. This is going to be the worst decision for Nintendo down the line.

But I will point out that this isn't the first time Nintendo has put their games on a non Nintendo platform. But apparently their ventures on PC and Phillips didn't teach them a lesson.

>they will make amazing games just like they always have

nintendo doesnt do that anymore tho

link?

I don't support it.
It's smart but I don't like it

>Nintendo
>amazing games

Not since like a decade ago, buckaroo.

No it's Mario Run dumbass

youtube.com/watch?v=wgA_qNvm8Mc

Unlike sonyggers, we won't.

What the fuck nintendo? I expect better of you.

>mobile spinoff game

Wow it's fucking nothing

Platforming on phones is shit anyways.

As someone who grew up playing their games, yes I'm worried that we're never going to see amazing nintendo games anymore. As an adult who isn't stuck in the past with nostalgia goggles, I realize they're a business and businesses either need to make money or fail. So nintendo is going to do what they feel they have to do to stay afloat in a changing market that they've always been stubborn to move with.

I've been more disappointed that Pokemon Go and Super Mario Run are reskins of games that already existed.

pathetic

God, it's even got those hideous New Super Mario Bros. visuals.

>Took down shit tons of fan games so they could put up their own
Expect Zelda on the PC in the near future.

>It will make them money, which will incentivise them to make more mobile games and abandon creating amazing games.
ftfy

What's pathetic? Nintendo pulling this shit or I'm not a loyalist retard who blindly defends every decision a company makes?

more like Super Mario Run Out of Ideas

While I'm not personally interested in Super Mario Run, if it gets the iGeneration interested in the core Mario games on Nintendo's consoles, then I'm all for it.

At least they ignored that one dumbass investor that suggested a mobile Mario game where players could pay to make Mario jump higher.

is Pokemon Go going to kill pokemon?

oh wait sun and moon

is Mario Runfuck going to kill Mario?

oh wait [insert NX launch title mario game here]

you people are idiots.

Oh no, Nintendo is DOOMED to make iOS games FOREVER

OHHHH NOOOOOOOOOOOO NINTENDO IS DOOOOOOOOMED

I'm a huge Nintendo fan but no.

It's apparently a paid app, with in-app purchases, with recycled graphics, and a monetize-the-impatience citybuilder added in for good measure.

I cannot defend this.

To be fair though Mario hasn't had a good title since Galaxy 2.

R.I.P IN PEACH

>The audacity of Ninendo wanting to *GASP* Make money!
>how unprecedented

Please. Everyone is freaking out over nothing. Just relax.

>I don't like it

Don't matter, you'll defend it regardless. You know this, you spend $$$ and ends up in this situation.

Guess what? You'll spend $$$ on this mobage and nothing can stop that.

Well, that's not as long ago as the gap between Sunshine and Galaxy.

It would help if Nintendo actually started putting out some good games recently.

every time a company shits on a franchise or does something bad I'll just say "they're just trying to make money they're a company!" from now on
no criticism allowed

Nintendo fan here
I hate it

Monthly reminder to watch that Coke Zero meter.
youtube.com/watch?v=sSy8mbk-Wi4

Sun and Moon looks fucking awful.

>*GASP*

Fuck off

About the same, actually.

I am perfectly relaxed.

I am just stating that I cannot defend this. They're going to have to reinvent a lot of shit for this to stand any chance of not merely being a deliberately time wasting pocket beggar.

They're already putting out great games like Metroid Prime: Federation Force, and Paper Mario: Color Splash is also on the way. Isn't that enough?

you drones always find a way to defend literal shit, huh

Iwata's plan for mobile was for it to be used mainly as advertising for the real games. People play the mobile games, like them, and then will want to pay for a real console.

Hopefully Nintendo will follow that model, but it largely will depend on the reception to the new Pokemon game and whatever Mario game comes out after this. I don't think the increased Pokemon sales after Go so far have been enough for Nintendo to plot out their future course with mobile yet.

People could have predicted this happening when they announced the DeNA deal.

>What is 3D World/Land

There is literally nothing wrong with mobile gaming, just don't pretend it's a proper game and hold it to proper gaming standards.

It's a spin off that isn't going to leech resources from Nintendo EAD but will make them extra money, there's nothing to defend.

5 does not equal 8 senpai

>It will make them money, and with that money they will make game that make them less money

It'll be a shitty mario game, big whoop. That's not new

i actually don't care

like normally i'd be defending or condemning it or something but i legitimately am apathetic on the issue

wow, nintendo went mobile like three years after everyone else

how exciting

maybe it's the massive sleep deprivation from school starting back up talking but it's like wow how is this eventful in any way

call me when they actually release some info on the nx. now THAT'd be something to shitpost about.

>Mario can't die
>if you don't jump over enemies/pits, he just does a flip
Holy
Fucking
SHIT

Sunshine came out in 2002. Galaxy came out in 2007.

I think it will mailnly be an advertisement stint.

But ain't no hurt trying to make a little moolah while you're at it.

Just like Fallout Shelter.

Defend what? Why do you feel the need to play a victim all the time? It's just a shitty cellphone game.

your writing style never fails, cody. so neat, calm, and braindead, as per usual conduct.

Very uninspired in my book. 100%'d Land, and got through World. Mechanically competent, but at its core it was just a 3D rendering of the NSMB games.

Looks fine. All you ever do in 2D Mario games is hold right, anyway, so it seems like an okay fit for the platform.

Definitely not the most questionable thing they've done as of late.

Fuck off 3D World was GOAT

I will be fine with this if it means that they keep the tired, worn out NSMB style on the mobile games from now on

free app with iap bro

I actually interpreted the "build your own mushroom kingdom" as some sort of stage creator, but I guess citybuilder would make more sense.

>*GASP*
you have to go back to r/nintendo

Sun and Moon were likely in development before Go and SM3DW came out in 2013.

>oh wait [insert NX launch title mario game here]

Source?

I don't really see what the problem is here - did you guys see Nintendo as some bastion of hope for not making mobile games up until this point? They're not going to go mobile only. inb4 you autists call me a Nintendrone my last Nintendo console was the gamecube

The game is not about surviving the levels. It's about being the most fucking fly.

Most airtime and tricks or whatever.

You can download other people's ghosts and play against them.

I imagine they continue the thinking from NSMB Wii (and later?) where they drive the salespitch hard of Mario as a cool game in which hardcore players can dazzle others with their sick skill yo.

It actually looks kind of fun. I'd buy it for a buck or two, seems like it could have some staying power.

The flagpole mechanic strips out the uniqueness the previous 3D Mario games had. Turns it practically into a different genre, really. Instead of focusing around a variety of objectives and tasks, the aim is based around getting to the end of the stage before the timer runs out.

They're not exactly bad games, though the overall visuals and presentation left me unimpressed, but at the end of the day, they're not for people who enjoy the formula of the 3D Marios before it.

>free app

Thought so too.

Some peep in another thread were adamant about it being premium. Couldn't get my head around where they had this info from.

This is outrageous... How can sonyggers defend this, and I play on a PS3.

is this b8

DELETE THIS

I'm not a fan of this decision, but I'm more indifferent than anything.

EAD is confirmed for making the next core Mario and it should be out in the NX's first year, so whatever.

No, it's paid. They specifically said that they wanted to release it at a set price so you didn't have to worry about paying any more once you'd started playing.

whatever. dont buy it. I know I won't.

>I'm a Nintendo fan
PCcuck detected

Well that would've been a big fat lie then, as the pre-alert part on the App-Store front page makes very sure you are aware that there will be in-app purchases.

>free app

Big nintendo fan here, if u didnt see this coming after pokemo go you are retarded

Yes i defend this its great news hopefully some kirby paint canvas for iphone too

This game looks decent for a free to, ahem, start mobile game. But what do I know, I'm literally the definition of bad opinions.

It doesn't say anywhere whether it will cost money or not.

But it will have in-app purchases.

Paid with in-app is the worst.

It's like charging at the entrance of a bar or a supermarket.

Let's speculate about inapp purchases.
>princess peach playable character $1.99

God this is so much more ridiculous than a normal mobile game, how they could ignore this? It's okay when anyone but Nintendo does it.

Toad will be free.

In fact, you start off with Toad. You gotta buy Mario.

Cause everyone Toad.

EVERYONE

>It's not OK when Nintendo does it

Mobile Games aren't innately bad.
A good mobile game is something like Pokemon Go or Final Fantasy Record Keeper, where the game is F2P, and while you can buy stuff through microtransactions, it does nothing that you couldn't already do ingame.
While I could see a slight shift towards making mobile games, I doubt that Nintendo will ever go full mobile.

They're free to prove me wrong though, I haven't bought a single Nintendo game since Kirby Planet Robobot because of how much they've been fucking up lately. If they crash and burn it's their own damn fault.

WHAT

NIGGER
LUIGI

I'd bet on it.

This will be the case.

Nintendo is Japanese EA after all.

>when capcom exist

>Run out of lives? Buy some more from the Mario Store(TM) only $4.99 for 5 lives. Or buy 60 lives for $29.99(SPECIAL OFFER)

No that game got ripped hard on Sup Forums back then.

>pirate phone game-tier name

supermariorun.com/en/index.html

retard

It says on their website. I don't know how much clearer this can be.

supermariorun.com/en/index.html

Man you niggers just communicate only in images.

There is 1 in-app purchase which is the purchase that unlocks the full game from the free demo.

tldr

>A new kind of Mario game that you can play with one hand!
Oh boy, finally! *zzzzzip*

...

>This game is free to download, and some content will be available for free. Additional content will be available for purchase.
>Additional content will be available for purchase.

Fuck.

I don't give a fuck as long as they don't go full mobile.

This is how they've been doing free-to-play for the last couple years - Stretchmo, Rusty, etc. As far as I'm concerned, it's probably the least offensive way to put a pricetag on a phone game, although being able to play video games for free is nice.

>Fire Flower $0.25
>Super Star $0.50
>Automatically clear the level $2.50

No need to speculate!

Just slap Mario related shit over this lucrative model.

The "get to the end of the level quickly" and "each level is a bunch of shit thrown together" never appealed to me. Even SMW had themes to the areas. Plus I enjoyed the freedom and semi-exploration of games like sunshine or 64.
