What the hell happened? Shouldn't a L4D-style game have more longevity than this?

What the hell happened? Shouldn't a L4D-style game have more longevity than this?

they fixed the bugs and now you can't cheat the system

I bought this and played for 2 hours but didn't try to refund until 15 days later and got denied. So fucking bullshit.

The major fuck up of this game is the lack of decent boss fights. As much I liked the gore and the melee system, it felt meaningless after 3 weeks playing.

they had the whole warhammer universe at their fingertips and they chose the main enemies to be fucking rats. What about the undead or chaos? That would have made such a better game.

>dark eldar
>chaos
>orks
>undead
>beastman

Holy shit talk about wasted potential the game.

>exceeded the clearly labeled limitations of the automatic refund system
>don't get refund
woooooooooooooooooow

I've heard it has a lot of bugs especially early after release that sank the game. That and a really shitty weapon unlock system that isn't fun.

L4D has Versus and several modes. This has 2 modes and the campaigns aren't as good as L4D or L4D2. Also the weapon balance is so ass.
Skaven are top tier enemy choice.
>undead
Fucking zombies and skeletons? Shit.
>Chaos
Nope

Nah, boss fights would have fucked it or been cheesed likes its been cheesed in KF1 and 2. Game's problem is the campaigns are pretty short and there isn't enough variation in events, the weapon balance is shit so there is no point to use Y or X when Z does everything better. Why do 1 hand variants exist when it has the same moveset as 1H+shield? Then the loot system is just RNG aids bullshit promoting you to grind on the easiest/fastest shit for more actual chances at loot.

Eldar and Beastmen wouldn't have fit here, and Orcs are overdone enemy type.

Game would have been great if it had connected its random missions into a linear story.

Especially since you HAD to beat a specific mission to continue.

It was a cheap throw away game that made them a ton of money and was pretty fun, but it would have been a must play for warhmmer fans if they had not used such a shitty mission system.

Wait I didn't even notice you said Eldar. What the fuck are you on? Dark Elves would be shit tier and make no sense in a horde game. It was literally Skaven or Orcs/Goblins.

Yeah L4D did this well.

I was really excited to try it a little while ago, but after actually playing it? It just made me want to play L4D instead.

I feel like Vermintide does more than it really needs to or should, when all you really need is just a melee, a firearm and random hordes. it can be simpler.

Honestly if they threw away the fucking RNG loot system it would've been amazing. That shit turned people off the game so fast and gave it a shitty first impression so it died.

Instead of being to beat a level by your skill it was all about exploiting missions (like the barrel missions at the start of the games life cycle) to get OP weapons and armor to power through higher difficulties.

So people didnt want to play. The long missions weren't worth the reward, and you were stuck doing normal if you didnt have good gear, cause people just kicked you.

It wouldve been a great clone if not for the item system

Maybe they are all waiting for spacehulk.

The RNG loot is what threw me off from buying it. I played the free weekend, and I loved how smooth the game was, it was lots of fun to just kill enemies, like why I love killing floor.

Yeah I'm really waiting for it, hope it doesn't stay at only Tyranids, would be awesome to purge Tao, Eldar and other Xenos

>Tao, Eldar and other Xenos
Zero chance of this happening, they already pushed the lore with the hybrids, I don't think they will add anything else. Seems they are just keeping this at space hulk level, not anything larger.

The hack and slash in that game felt awesome. Really nice and meaty when you jammed your axe into something.

I bought the game for like 20 or 25 bucks. Frankly I dont regret it, I thought it was good and had high hopes theyd fix its problems with item RNG. But by the time they started fixing it, alot of people were already turned off and left, and I had no one to play it with so I dropped it too.

Maybe I have a little bit of buyers remorse, but Im more saddened that a game that I liked came so close to being good and just fell flat on it's face.

RNG based loot system, lack of dedicated servers, slow as fuck updates that never actually fixed those issues. People lost interest, and the game died. Same as Lead & Gold, another game created by the same devs.

Basically, they have good ideas but suck at execution and take way too long to fix their errors. Also the maps are all the same.

Its not even that its staying only on Tyranids, its just variations of Genestealers and hybrids.

>lead and gold
>peak 255 players

At least vermintide had a launch of twenty five thousand people. They really dropped the ball hard, losing that much of an audience so quickly

Isnt Deathwing pretty much the same game?

Played it for 37 hours and I'd have to say it's a mixture of the shitty loot RNG system and the elitist community kicking out every player that doesn't fall into their bracket of "good".

Which is problematic given that the game has less players than fucking Battleborn.

Welp hope the game make enough for EYE2 then.

To be fair the elitist BS is the same shit L4D has, maybe it's just the style of game that attracts that nonsense

Same COOP vs AI deal, but different set up. Less like L4D, more like Divine Cybermancy - large sprawling levels with enemy patrols and sparce large bosses. More open and exploration and variation.

I'll follow Strenum On for whatever they make, those guys earned my trust. EYE is such a unique game, and I hope the studio visits it again

Yeah that's true, it's less problematic in L4D2 since the game is still thriving in terms of numbers so there's always gonna be newb matches but with ~160 players in Vermintide that means barely any games are going to be active.

No versus. Kiddies love versus.

Despite it's flaws Vermintide and the small community of /vtg/ will always hold a place in my heart for all the stupid jokes me and my buddies had in the 40 hours I played that game.

SIGMAH BLESH DIS RAVAJED BODEE

Might as well post what memes I have of this game, when am I ever gonna be able to post this shit

This is still my favourite.

You can't really make a horde game with factions where the squishy's are the minority of the enemies.

Would make more sense being Orc/Chaos/Beastmen/Dark elf being the playable characters fighting the countless forces of the Empire. Would buy the shit out of that.

BIG MEATY BOLTERS

Looks so great in action, but I suppose I should be worried about how its going to last at all when the entire game is corridors.

In L4D you could do a game with AI and at least have a chance of winning.

The AI in this game was, bar none, the worst I have ever seen in a co-op game. You couldn't do shit without a group of friends and people tended to be really hostile and elitist toward people who didn't have every level memorized to down to the specks of dirt.

End result is everyone new is driven away from the game quickly.

The AI was terrible with item consumption, but the director was so garbage at the start too.

In L4D, the director only ever put 1 or 2 specials that could incapacitate or pin a player down (smoker, hunter, jockey) while the remaining specials were just annoying shit like a Boomer or Spitter.

In Vermintide, if you got unlucky you could roll something like 3 GutterRunners and a Packmaster, leaving everyone to get incapped and instafail the mission.

I saw the preview. The maps have a lot of wide open spaces.

Though what im more exited about is the loot system or if there would be armor customization. There

Remember guys, elf is a slut who sucks skaven semen for shekels

...

They say you play as a librarian, so everyone's a librarian in coop? Would've been nice to choose your own niche class. But it seems there might be some options left for differentiating yourself. One of the lines of text mentioned something about automatic turrets, maybe you'll be able to sacrifice some firepower to bring some support gear like that. I liked always bringing a turret or 2 in E.Y.E.
It's pretty great to see them actually take 40k on after all those 40k vibes from E.Y.E. Plus this game is looking infinitely better than Eternal Crusade.

I hope this fine young lady deals in situations where her all of her holes get dealt with by multiple strangers on the daily.

Also it has to do with the glitches OP.

I dont know.
Something about it just isnt fun. I tried to like it, but after 6hours I just couldnt enjoy it. Might have been fun with friends, but nobody I know wanted to play it. RIP.

The loot system sucks major ass so I'm not motivated enough to keep playing.

That was probably just for the preview.

The classes would probably be Champion/Assault, Chaplain, Librarian, Shooty/normal Terminators.

Ah okay, I looked it up.
>If you switch to co-operative however, four friends can take control of individual Terminator classes directly. More specifically, a heavy weapon support mows down enemies, a melee-oriented assault class slashes foes with claws, the tactician specialist offers helpful buffs, while the Apothecary provides much-needed healing.

Librarian is just the singleplayer locked class it seems.

Was a fun game and the melee felt great, I definitely had my money's worth, but I knew it wouldn't last long, so I got all my Cataclysm map clears done with before the game died hard, I still have nightmares about pre-patch Wheat and Chaff.
